I agree that Kotooshu has been disappointing this past year, but during this tournament, he was unstoppable, going 14-1 and winning the Emperor's Cup. A great performance - let's hope he can do it again some day.
FREAKING AWESOME! Go Kotooshu! He is totally rocking this tournament. Thanks for the great videos Jason-san. Even though the quality was worse on this one it was legible and that is all that matters for me. I hope Ama beats Kotooshu, but Kotooshu beats the other two. It would be a prefect tournement in my book.
For Jakob0815: There are a lot of English speaking expats in Japan so they have English commentators on some channels and stations(sat usually), also Jason talks about it in a reply in..
Mate! I'm loving these commentaries. What about today - a bit odd, but on the positive side, it means that the thing still isn't over yet - and with my man Ama meeting Kotoshu tomorrow... Oh, this tournament is just TOO GOOD! The Kotooshu match was a total psyche by Aminishiki, but he's got to deal with that. Can't wait for tomorrow!
Luckily for me, NHK, the national TV station of Japan, offers English commentary on Sumo from 4 to 6pm each day. The regular Japanese commentary is on the main audio channel, but you can hit a button on your remote and get the 2nd audio, which is English. This really got me into sumo when I first got here in 2004 and I didn't speak much Japanese.
Yeah - it's easily my favorite "Japanese" thing that I've discovered while I've lived here - an appreciation that will continue after I leave I'm sure. :)
