I have been listening to talk radio for over 20 years. I Love to listen to a variety of opinions. But, I see why left wing radio almost always fails. The hate, vileness and know it all attitude of people like Maddow, Rhoades, Schultz, makes it very hard to stomach their broadcasts for long. And they seem to push the same hateful theme over and over again, Repubs stupid nazis, white males stupid and privileged. I will gladly listen to liberal radio, but they have to try and change their delivery.

@artistandy: Well, the bottom line is that talk radio is entertainment, it has to draw people to make money. I think that the vileness factor on the left is one of the reasons people tune out. I like different points of view, but when the level of vile gets too high, sometimes I say why bother (I do that on both left and right talk radio). Like when I read DU, and it is just so vile, say like a Palin thread, I will not even read very far. Npr is mostly boring because they are pretty predictible.

well, i listen to stephanie miller, tom hartman, randi rhodes, andthen sometimes ed shultz on the radio. keith olberman is often very vicious, but usually his subjects supremely deserve it. i dont notice the left radio especially vile. i do mostly apprecate when they have done a lot of research and can answer the questions that their topics raise. randi has an especially well researched show and her knowledge goes way beyond a brief set of talking points. she's my favorite for that reason.

I remember that show very well, as I listen to Ed everyday. He DID NOT have a meltdown. Big Eddie is probably the most calm radio personality I can think of.
