i guess it was someones memory looking from the inside , who never got out enough , or their parents never let them out ,so they built this reality that only existed in their mind.i hung out in every part of the slope , and bordering areas from sunup to sunset, with every race of people ,young and old,as the 50s era moved out , the hippies moved in and turned the slope around and stopped it from becoming a getto, it was never a Getto
"Park Slope...years before the idea of inner-city gentrification became a reality." -- talk about prophetic! So incredible to see Park Slope then as brilliantly captured by Ashby/Willis and now as captured by Gyllenhaal &c....good looking on name checking the great, hugely underappreciated Bill Gunn.
A great first film for Hal Ashby. & FYI, Mr. Bridges is also fine in Charles Burnett's Nightjohn.
