  • sting is boss, so fuckit,if you have problems

  • sting blows

  • Fuck you WHITE people, this isn't your music so why are you trying to take credit of this? Sting--- fuck you!

  • @steppingupgirl Ok? So who else bought this music? Only Black People? No. It's everyone's music.

  • @steppingupgirl last time i checked, steve cropper was a white man, and

co-wrote this song, so fuck you, bitch, step down

  • what year did wilson record this?

  • Talking bout SOUL , SOUL ..look up SOUL in the MF Dictionary and you'll see a picture of the GREATEST , WILSON PICKETT ~~

  • Talking bout SOUL , SOUL ..look up SOUL in the MF Dictionary and you'll see a picture of the GREATEST , WILSON PICKETT ~~

  • haha he almost danced as bad as otis redding. but both were fantastic singers and entertainers

  • I found this snippet of music history fascinating. Those who hate Sting needn't waste their time making negative comments, as the unadulterated version is just a click away.

  • Does this song bring back a lot of good memories....;)

  • Watching sting sing this song and tell stories is Great.

  • I DO NOT want to hear Sting talk about his sex life over Wilson Pickett. GEEZ!!!!!!! coll, you found John Lennons juke box. Wonder what you paid for it?

I'm sure us everyday people couldn't afford it.

Sting, enjoy your fame and wealth but keep it to yourself, PLEASE!!!!!!!!

  • I love the contrast between the two top comments lmao

  • Gradually, I have come to find Sting annoying.

  • I'm torn between voting Like cos I lurve the wicked wicked picket. Or thumbs down, cos this IS so irritating. Don't get me wrong. Early Police, superb. But I agree with wolfwilliams, Sting IS so up himself. I am not interested in his tantra sex, or his early influences. Write it in a book, if we care we'll buy it, if not, just go away.

  • Such hate for Sting in the comments lately. He's expressing his love for the song by singing and playing air instruments. That's what talented people do; express themselves in a way that comes naturally. Unlike all these negative people who only know how to express themselves in contrived hate (jealousy) filled rants. I'm not a huge Sting fan per se but I'm a fan of good music and Wilson Pickett and Sting are on my long list of favorites. Get a job and you'll suddenly have better things to do.

  • Ah, he is doing the Temptation Walk.

  • God I hate Sting.

  • @saulhiphop Black music was loved in England and Canada. Some of the most famous became famous doing remakes of black singers, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Otis Redding, many imitators but nothing like the real thing baby. Sting don't bother you are vanilla compared to Wilson Pickett. He was the man.

  • Love This Song! Grew Up With Soul! Country, Opera, Choose Pink Floyd!

  • does anyone please know how to get the rest of this seiries please john lennons juke box

  • ... now this is what I call ... finding a treasure .... Do not mind if Sting needs to celebrate too ... that is just what I am doing here ... in Africa ...

  • ... now this is what I call ... finding a treasure .... Do not mind if Sting needs to celebrate too ... that is just what I am doing here ... in Africa ...

  • What is the friggin point of this? Is Sting that starved for attention? NO! This is a senseless video, at least w/ Sting in it.

  • Sting, simply put, you're a cunt.

  • i knew before I even scrolled down that sting would be getting torn to shreds in the comments, hahahaha.

  • Sting: get out out of this search!!! I'm looking for classic soul, not you, you silly old rich fart.

  • Is that sting?

  • Sting's accent is weird. But no, for once he's not doing anything wrong here.

  • sting is a fucking idiot

  • This was the first song I ever played on the radio and the first song I played in a real band in front of people. That bass line is the greatest

  • That bass line, that voice, that brass all so totally kick-ass. And then there is Sting to stink it all up.

  • @pillroller88 that is so true-sting-every song is the same, sucks donkey balls

  • I liked this song. I also liked the guy at the end's sound effects.

  • Man John Lennon looked good here

  • haha Ouch ... I love sting.

  • fuckin sting!!! booooo what a fuckin slob.

  • What the heck is wrong with you bloody idiots? Sting didn't do anything wrong here. Just because you don't like him doesn't mean you all have to be complete wankers! Seriously grow up!

  • STING IDOLO ¡¡¡

  • FUCK YOU STINK!!! This guy is as bad as Pat Boone.

  • Sting i'm so glad we don't here anything from him anymore i hate his voice.

  • The original poster didn't say so, but this is a clip from a PBS special called "John Lennon's Jukebox." Since Lennon was no longer around to comment on what obviously were some of his favorite songs, other musicians were invited on the program to talk about the various records in the jukebox and what significance and influence those musicians had.

PBS has a pretty good web page about it, but they don't sell copies on video, probably because it was co-produced with British TV.

  • LOL 2:34 warmduscher

  • Sting...ew.

  • WTF is Sting think he`s doing. Who cares what you have to say? Just play the fucking song! Total Ahole..

  • Hey Sting-you stink. You made love to yourself to this record. Stick to the air-guitar.

  • Fuck off, String! WP was Peter Gabriel's first love. Gordon Pimp-ass mother-fucking motherfucker.

  • I have always thought that Sting is crap, now I have more reasons to scorn the big ego.

  • My fav vocalist of all time (there are some others too) - I just realized it today..this is the MAN I have been trying to find my whole life..now I know who..and he;s dead a couple years ago....sad , very, very, very sad...I wish someone knew just how much

  • Who, for Pete's sake needs all this commentng from Sting and ppl I don't even know?!

    Only 23 dislikes...? Make it 24 !

  • I need that jukebox.

  • lol.lol.lol.lol...dude youre too freakin funny..lololol.lol..

nicodagger thanx for the laughter..youre too cold

you really ain;t feelin Sting at all..lol.loll.loll...

    see you in a few;o

    take care..

    Shirl;o

  • @melody2009w You're welcome!! It just pisses me off when white boys do a crappy cover of great African-American music, ESPECIALLY soul, and MOST ESPECIALLY THE "WICKED" WILSON PICKETT!! And I'm a white musician, but I know what the fuck time it is.

  • Sting??? bail out, bail out!!!!

  • @midmodgal ABORT!!! ABORT!!!

  • Soul in soul.

  • Cool to see Sting feeling the real soul of Wilson Pickett.

  • me an my wife love you both -this is Music! Cheers from Helsinki

  • sting YUUUUK

  • Shame you can't cut stings voice out at the beginning of this footage

  • Sting, sing this in a lower key. I'd love to hear you do a slower version, trio, in front of the fire.

  • If its great music, Steve Cropper always seems to be involved!!!!!!!

  • It was great hearing Steve Cropper comment on creation of this song, likewise with John. But Sting....not so much.

  • Man it was great to hear Sting and The Colonel (you know the guy with the ponytail THAT WROTE THE SONG) talk about this song and how they loved it. To end it up with John Lennon talking about how it inspired him to make records. Give me a break this is a tribute not a vocal video. If you want to hear it play another video. It is on here many times.

  • he was a real screamer

  • mp3iffy works again wooohoooo awesome - google mp3iffy

  • oh just shut the fuck up sting

  • @pentonvilleroad AMEN!!

  • We don't care Stingaling.

  • I love how happy he is 1:04

  • Sting the King of Cunts

  • @badmadpilot And a bloody berk as well.

  • This song is so much better when I get to fucking watch sting listen to it and sort of sing along.

  • he says he played the song a million times and he cant even get the lyrics right.

  • Sting is a penis.

  • my first ever video I have rated as "disliked". That should say something right there.

  • Every time I see or hear Sting I realize why he HAD to go solo... no one can stand to be around him longer than about ten minutes. Why would he think ANYONE wants to hear his lame, half-whispered vocals over Wilson Pickett's? And the air trumpet...?

Please, bro.... Have enough respect to get out of the way of a gold-standard song while it's playing. We all get how influenced you must have been by American r&b, but you're in Michael Bolton territory with that opening 'act' in this video clip.

  • @wolfwilliams hilarious comment!

  • @wolfwilliams That's f**king funny dude. All true!!!! That's why it's so hilarious!!!!

  • @wolfwilliams : Muahahaha, "Michael Bolton-territory" made my day, thanks bro.

Though Michael Bolton, to be honest, has a more grateful voice than Sting...

    Greetings from Germany.

  • Wison picket at his best

  • This is great!! By watchin guys like Sting and the others idolize guys like Wilson Pickett you can really see how music evolved.

  • Sting is such a pretentious prick.

  • @kmp3000 Another hilarious comment!! Wow, got 2 good laughs on this page. Thanks people!! Like minded when it comes to Sting.

  • Eddie Murphy could easly play Wilson Pickett in a movie about his life

  • I love watching good musicians listening to good music...

  • What program did this clip come from?

  • @exposefraud -- "John Lennon's Jukebox," shown on PBS 'Great Performances' series, co-produced with BBC Channel 4 International

  • @thegrammarfairy Thanks for the program info. I'll be looking out for a rerun!

  • Sting should stick to hugging trees & eating nut culets!!! Call yourself a Geordie - haway man, have word with yourself FFS! Lol

  • @dxheaven I agree...but what does it mean: "haway man, have word with yourself FFS"?

  • I have had a wee to this - does that add to the gravitas in which Sting envelops the song?

  • @jnmklo9 A poop would have been better, but a wee will do...for now...

  • should change the title. didn't really want to listen to sting--not that he isn't awesome.

  • tmi, sting

  • Oh! I wish you bring back In The Midnight Hours, Ninety

Nine And A Half, and 634-7589. Not to mention Eddie

    Floyd Knock On Wood.

  • @sandralawson18 Now, I've got almost everybody from

the old school, is on my website. I'am so tired of lame

excuse about you not release those songs, all because

of a fenchment bit, when all I want to do, is just listen to

    music, that's all.

  • @sandralawson18 This is 2010 now. I don't understand,

why don't you let hear his music? And, let me remind

you, that I can always buy Wilson Pickett's and Eddie

Floyd's albums from Amazon, and play their albums my

    own self.

  • @sandralawson18 So I'm begging you, will please release

Wilson Pickett's Eddie Floyd's songs on You Tube?

I grew up with all of their music.

  • Sting...complete nothing!..the nothing!From Italy

  • Shut up Sting!! You're f*ckin up a good song!

  • I wished they'd have just played the song through first before they began talking- like Lennon did.

  • the classiccc

  • and the last guy too "see my jesusin the midnight hour..."...i pray to jesus that someone uploads the actual song without these stupid opinions.

  • That last guy is Steve Cropper, who played guitar on most all the Stax Records recordings, Booker T and the MGs, Otis Redding, Sam & Dave and on and on. He knows exactly what he's talking about.

  • Steve Cropper worte the song if he doesn't know what he is talking about no one does.

  • @pissandwind It was written by Cropper & Pickett.

  • Respect to Wilson "The Wicked" Pickett and Steve "Genius" Cropper!

  • so asked sting about ruining this anyway?

  • Sting couldn't drive Wilson Pickett's limo, let alone share the stage with him.

  • What were the other songs on the jukebox list? It will be interesting to know if there are other songs that were earlier than the 1965 Wilson Pickett hit!

  • totally agree, such a fantastic song when we were there.

  • @nicodagger Can you say ignorant? Sting is one of the most legendary musicians of all time. They're both great musicians.

  • @theBASSOE I agree completely that Sting, when perfroming his OWN music, is brilliant....his work with the Police is some of the best ever, no doubt....but Sting trying to sing "In The Midnight Hour"???????????? It's just a fucking joke, and embarrassing and pathetic.

  • @nicodagger I'm pretty sure there are other copies of this song. The intent of this video is the commentary. If you're not interested in it, why is this the version you chose to listen to? Sting (like him or hate him) never intended this to be something you play when you just want to hear the song.

People waste way too much energy on unnecessary rants.

  • Sting, no-one wants to know what you did to this record - it's too horrid to contemplate - why don't you just butt out and let Wilson get on with what he does best!

  • @giveahoot1 and shave that mess off your stupid face.

  • Thank You for posting this clip. I have great respect for Sting, the late great John Lennon and all of the late great R & B artist who were the foundations of Rock Pop and R & B music the world over. I always liked John Lennon for his honesty, this man would tell you what he thought was right no matter what the cost.

  • sting is fantastic what are you saying. listen to "Shape of my heart" and tell me the guy's not incredibly talented.

  • Ive heard it an he's not incredible talented.

  • its not that he doesnt have talent or wahtever, but damn sting thanks for tellin us the things weve all done, like hes special

  • why dont you just fuck off

  • y doesnt sting just fuck off? i mean i dint click on this to hear some stupid limey's opinion, wait i have an idea, lets ask sting about american cars...see what he has to say..see if maybe we can learn something from him...what a homo

  • hey man i must apologise wilson is my hero

hey jude still makes me cry if offended you im sorry

  • @dmellow45 LOL

  • damn if wilson pickett didnt' look like dwight howard from the orlando magic lol

  • hahahhahah

    true!

  • sting is a total cock

  • hes just not cool haha

  • surely, it takes one to know one. If you don't like him, why take it out on this channel, jerk!

  • delayed backbeat... love it

  • do we really need sting talking about his sexlife in the background?

  • Sting is great, don't judge music you've never listened to.

  • how can you not have heard his shit while it's practicly on the radio everyday, together with phil collins, dire straits, robbie williams etc.

  • stings a fag

  • damnit isn't there a version without Mr. I-shouldn't-have-gone-solo?

  • Sting, you twat.

  • thanx sting for not only being a total douche, but ruin a great AMERICAN song.. like who asked him to comment anyway... who cares what he says, when 9/11 happnd i was thinking "somebody get sting on the phone, lets see if he could make some sense out of all this"

    what a douche

  • oeh you just owed Dave Chapelle some royalty money.

  • if i made some money off of it, i dont think dave chapelle would take it anyway. dave is real, unlike most assholes

  • That sounds like John Lennon at the beginning. Any1 know what he says?

  • Sting: what the hell are you doing? ruining a classic song....get outta the way you other idiots

  • Really good song

  • wilson pickett - get me back on engine number 9

  • Great song, but Sting IS a goddamned tool...

  • This is pretty cool.

If you listen to the Beatles and other Music of the era, it's easy to know who inspired them...

  • sting is an idiot. he should stick to his adult contemporary stuff. "i made love to this re-cord" with who? your hand?

  • i think your the idiot dumbass sting is a famous singer what are you, propably a looser

  • i dont like him. he fucks the song

  • escobar, have you ever found a better

    version that Wilson Pickett's Midnight

    Hour?

Looking for what you are comparing this

song to, not looking to argue 'taste'

because it is a 'lose lose' situation.

    Thanks!!!

  • actually i have Wilson Pickett - In The Midnight Hour (1987 Motown Records Corp. re-make) nice audio and if the video doesnt matter its just you :)

  • LOVE ME SOME MIDINGHT HOUR

  • what a fanny that sting is

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP STING!

  • Shame there isn't a version without all this bloody yakking :-(

  • too right m8...and what a brass section...woooooooo

  • lol

  • They planned on being a woman but it fizzled out too early.

  • i remember driving around in this 63 impala ss that was my dads, when i was like 7 playing this song

  • this is my second cousin. no joke :O)

  • SO WHAT

  • my mom had this...I used to sneek her records, when I was a teen. And play them and paint. But this song really reminds me of my uncle J.R. the retired Firefighter. He has burnt ears, and used to look for yard sales with the guys in the fire truck. Waiting for the next call. I'm in my 30's but who will remember these past generations after us? I love youtube...just for that reason.

  • hell teah

  • A few years back. Rolling Stone magazine somehow didn't seem fit to list theWicked Pickett among their 100 Immortal artists (evem though some real lame clowns made their cut).

Happily -- as this vido proves -- music pros far smarter than RS's writers know better...

  • I agree wtih you ! waht a voice !

  • He was a genius of R&B & there will never be another to compare, thank you Wilson. We don't need Sting to tell us about good music!

  • He's not Stung, he's not Stinging, he's Sting, present tense....
