  • There could be a way to optimize this, still using glasses with LEDs on it, but still using just a webcam.

Use extremely bright or just infrared LEDs and setting the camera to only pick up those LEDs. Saves time/code by cutting out head/face recognition, plus you can play in the dark.

  • how to do this!!!

  • could you hook me up asweel? thanks :)

  • can you send me it please

i would be very happy :) lol

  • you mind sending it too me as well. Im haveing trouble getting it too work with the wii mote an I need it for my one class :P

  • how did u get this?

  • download link plz??

  • could it be that it is in room very very dark so the webcam cannot track very good because its too dark?

  • where can i find this targets program?

  • where the hell can u get that target software ?

  • can u send me your software so i can try it out, i have the faceapi think but do not know how to integrate.

  • heyyy donde consigo el sofware ? =) esta super

  • it almost looks real

  • Even though this works with the webcam, I don't think its response time is as good as IR tracking.

  • This is not good becose of big latency. Head Tracking using the WiiRemote gives NO latence. Head Tracking using the webcam gives

    1) Big latence

    2) Very low resolution (it's seen on this video very good)

In games Latency is important. VERY much important. And resolution is importante too. So the web cam head tracking is suck

  • amazing , but how to get the targets sofware..? I've got the faceapi sofware demo where I can see my face but i don't know how to see these targets. can anyone help me please?

  • targets are actually part of my own program(C++/OpenGL). This program is comminucating with the faceAPI detection program, which propobly you already have. ;)

  • 1. Thx for your fast answer, but 2. how can i use those targets? :( Is there an exe-file?

  • yes, I've modyfied the program from OpenCV lib. and add a simple OpenGL animation (targets) which are reacting for the data (face position). I can't include link here, so I've sent to you the source code of the targets program- hope it will help

  • ok, thanks a lot. I will try to get this program running... (sry for my bad english^^)

  • please can you send me that link aswell?

  • @acellary Give me link please Luve your Vid_D

  • @acellary can u send me the link aswell i will subscribe if u do =)

and how to i set up contols

  • @acellary can I download this program somewhere?

  • lee did it first

  • read carefully

  • Mind re-reading the description, this wasn't done with a wiimote. Only a simple webcam.

  • yoru useing the same software on the screen there

  • No, but Ive seen it demonstrated many times...

  • huh? this you?

  • No but for some reason it said that your comment was a reply to mine. lol

  • oh?

u know anything about ds homebrew?

  • Why as a matter of fact, i do.

  • No i don't know how to make it, just use it. I kind of wish i could but it's not that big-a-deal...

  • What a bright idea, using DSi integrated cam, it would be fun having somehow 3D pictures / videos / games.

You got the lead, don't let it go!

  • where can I get this???

  • Zajebiste :D

    pozdro Qbek

  • 35 USD really isn't very expensive, especially considering the high degree of extra functionality and applicativity. Plus, you have to take into account the cost of a webcam if you want to compare methods. And since the Wiimote gives pretty a high resolution, there is definitely appeal there.

I think the best idea is to put an a light filter on a webcam and use (somewhat bright) colored LEDs to manually define two points of tracking. Cheaper than a Wiimote, more precise than silly FaceAPI.

  • I looked at the other comment but still cant fint please help :)

  • nice... good idea

  • lie. webcam cant possibly recognise your face in such low light

  • You wanna bet? :)

  • Whoa, it didn't need infrared lights? That's great...though is that a Windows you're using? I got a Mac. :(

  • genius

  • Fantastic. What head-tracking software did you use? I have found none reliable enough to do that.

  • search google about Intel's OpenCV library. Ive used it in my project

  • how did you do this with just a webcam?

  • web cam gives me enough information about position of head: x,y position its just a position of face in picture, and radius of circle in which face can fit- is the last z- position. Thats it
