  • Hello everyone! I met Richard Bean in 1995 I was blown away by that voice and had no ideal he was the voice behind the Santana CD and was the lead vocals of Love The Way. Remenber it was his song Suavecito that put Malo on the Bill Boards!! This song can romance any women who has class in her taste of music. I think its your lost if you dont appreciate his music . Sound to me like a few hate-ers There are plenty of fans who would agree.

  • Nice to see U R still a keeper of the flame Richard ! I wish there were clean videos of Malo performing this tune ? BTW...from Malo Dos lp~ the great Sax / Flute ? arranger " Hadley Caliman" passed away last month. His arrangements & playing as well as " Luis Gasca "...are historic ricordings. " I'm For Real " :)

  • Hi Bill,

Do you know where I can buy the 1974 Sapo´s CD album online? I´m from Spain and I couldn´t find it in any music store but I´m also having a hard time to find it online.

    Thanks!

  • I was Richard Bean's business manager in 1974 when we signed a record contract with Bell Records. The album was produced by John Simon and recorded in both San Francisco a Walley Heiders, and in New York City. Raul Rekow played conga's. Jose Simon who passed away last April played bass. They were all great people.

    Regards,

Bill Dollar - Business Manager Sapo.

  • Bill, thanks for the info. I have two LP's (one made in Central America and the other in US), and one of the few CDs that were sold years ago. Great memories!! Where is Rich? Thanks.

  • QUE VIVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!! El Rock Latin Que Viva Richard Bean & Sapo y Que Viva Suavecito One Of The Best Latino Love Song Ever !!Nice To See Rich Live With Sapo .I Hope To See them In Los Angeles soon !! A Ture Fan Sapo / Malo :-)

  • I am 26

  • its all good

  • nice

  • Yo drummer boy, what about his abandoned daughter from 22nd. and bryant. I remember you. But your take on the bean is not truthful. Sorry, but I call them the way I see them. Should have been a umpire

  • So what's the story on Richard Bean? Why so much hate towards him? I just know him by the music he has done. Mission district? Only pussy/coward/loser gangbangers mention areas of town, how you do.

  • You had to come out right? Some of you have no f**king class, why can't you just enjoy without the snide remarks?

  • Sorry, Man I see the REAL A**holes you're refering to, always something smelly when good sttuff should just be there!!!!

  • He is not a mans man. he has a clit. and a soft voice. Im old school MISSION DISTRICT. I have a lot of my blood, sweat and teeth on those streets .... and I would'nt have it any other way. I also stand up when I piss.

  • I was in the orginal Malo band with Rich Bean. He was a great person then and still is now. Also, he is from a great family in California. Very talented and does not get the credit (nor does Roy Murray and Abel Zarate) for his role in the whole Malo thing.

    God Bless,

    Rich Spremich

    Orignal malo drummer

  • This was recorded at the Little Fox Club in Redwood City July 28th 2007. I have some more Footage I will be putting up later on from the Little Fox Club and from the recent State Fair Concert in Sacramento.

  • WOW!,...I didn't think I would find anything from Richard Bean on here. They sound awesome,..what year is this? Any more footage of different songs?

  • was richard the original singer for the band?

  • Yes from what I know,...he had his own band during the 70's known as SAPO. He was a singer and song writer for Malo as well. He wrote Suavevito and many others. Sapo's sound is excellent, music doesn't get any better! Santana was always a figure face for the Latin Rock scene but people dont realize there were so many better/unique bands out there that never got the recognition.

  • Yes, Richard Bean formed the band Sapo in 1972 and we recorded the only album in 1974. Richard was the first and only singer for Sapo..
