afternoon, cool vid. i am a british soldier currently but i am looking on a career change and would like to work inthe north sea off shore.i am currently employed a petroleum operator, my duties are regulating pipe lines testing ground and aviation fuels and lubricants and issuing storing and receeipting fuel. how can i go about looking for a job and what do i need to have. your reply is much appreciated. like your choice of songs.cheers
Hey, can you please answer this question. I am 19 and either going to study at university to get a Degree (if not higher) in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering, still have not made up my mind but i was wondering is it worth getting a degree? will it make a big difference? I mean i heard people with no higher qualification or experience are earning big money. Should i just get an Apprentership or what? What do you think?
@lordlugworm I sure have. Had a few days sitting there in the sun drinking. I liked both sectors, the food was great in Holland, but terrible in Denmark.
I'm a 23 year old welder and I'm looking for work on the oil rigs. I was wondering if there is work there in light of the recession? If anyone works on the rigs could you get in contact with me, I'd be really grateful. My email address is mowjoes86@yahoo.co.uk. Thanks
lordlugworm just some advice be appriciated I have the pan european offshore survival Greenhand banksman slinger & medical cost me 2 half G finding it hard to get off my first trip. so any tips contacts be very much appriciated Cheers Ryan.
i'm a tower crane driver from Ireland with 11 years experience onshore both as driver and slinger/banksman, I have the opito MIST course and the opito BOSIET course and the medical done. I'm finding impossibe to get an interview, the agencies don't want to know you if you're a greenhand. how do you gain experience if nobody gives you a chance, i'm a hardy worker and never shirk from what i'm asked to do and alli need is one trip to show i'm able but all people seem to want is your money.
@lordlugworm I'm sure you've heard this a thousand times. I want get into the oil industry asap have no experience i'm physically fit and not scared of hard work any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks.
im from ireland and im 19 and im an out of work apprentice plasterer nearly 3 years done. would love to work on a rig always at the back of my mind.would you be able to get me in contact with the right people and wat kind of job cud i get and wat sort of money would i be earning.
@Terriers yes you could get out there. fisrt go for a pan european sea survival course. nutec aberdeen or other uk places for that. then send off cv to all oil drilling company HR dept's. you,d be better off with a riggers ticket also. try for a rousty to get out there. then go for the drill floor:) not sure what they pay as a rousty. but the drill floors pay well;)
I have my Bosiet and mist and medical done, I have 10 years experience on tower cranes in Ireland and the same as banksman/slinger I cannot get even a reply from any agency or drill company to take me on offshore. i've spent all i had left since getting laid off work last year on courses and it's been a total waste, unless you know somebody with some influence on a rig then it seems i haven't got a notion of getting work. i would work for free for the first trip if it meant a job
@rneoman i know how you feeling i have been were you are, these companys treat you like shit ,dont waste ure time on web sites like indeed, trovit and other sites your best bet is sevice companys.sorry to say to you 10 years on tower cranes means nothing to them regards john
@woodsjwoods Thanks man, I've got one reply in an email saying if i had a banksman ticket i might get a job. i also recieved a letter fro Dolphin drilling and my heart nearly stopped as i thought it might be for an interview seeing as it was a letter lol, they just said they had nothing for me. i know my crane and banksman experience means nothing to them. i'm nearly at the point of quittting my search at this time and focusing on a different career but i've spent a lot of money on training
Just to let all the offshore guys know theres a service for offshore workers. Picking up anywhere in Central Scotland to all Aberdeen Heli Ports. We also pick up in Aberdeen and take you home. Check out the website.
riglinks com
The company is run by ex offshore workers for offshore workers.
silly question,is there a safe place to leave your car or would getting there by train be better(Aberdeen)?and is it true that to work ofshore you must have a ' sea survival/helicopter crashing' course?would i have to pay for that myself or is it part of the job taining?
sea survival/helicopter crashing' course pan european 5 day course at nutec. proberbly your company will pay. as for the car. what are you doing in aberdeeen might help as to the car situation. Trains r good if just flying to work.
reason i asked about trains/cars is that i live in the northwest of England and i was not sure if i could use the trains with regards to the 'starting time of work',say 8am on a monday morniong then i would have to travel up a day or two before which would be a pain, otherwise i would get a car if its safe ie nice FREE BP carpark for example,i don't fancy leaving it unattended for 2 weeks. And as for Aberdeen i was told thats where you go to work on rigs, thats the ' base' ?. cheers mate.
trains ok, half hour taxi ride to heliport from main aberdeen station. parking, just use the airport secure parking facilities (ie NCP as the heliports are next to the standard airport). i assume you will be able to claim this back as expenses (i do) as i think most companies cover this
how long does it take in the chopper from land to the rig? i want to get into the oil business i have no qualifications. what could i do as a job there. labourer? can it be dangerous? and how much is the pay per week?
depends on how far out the rig is. there was a time we left Aberdeen then landded at somborough airport shetland islands. then flew to our rig afetr refulling.did not keep track of flight time. then there was a rig 10 minutes from shore.
im really interested in this type of job have you got any contact numbers? i have no qualifications meaning i would have to start out as a roustabout what that kind of job like ? how much is the pay ?
boy , youre a crane op. the video slow , plus depressing as hell , you should go up to the floor more often man... no disrespect. greetings from the dane sector.
BOY YOUR A CRANE OP.Drlling rigs i am also the supervisor to the deck crew.
Crane op also happens to be the COXWAIN LIFEBOAT CAPTAIN HLO HELICOPTER LANDING OFFICER postman fireman you would not be there if i was not supplying you your gear and my crew?
PSL in this VIDEO build a snubbing unit upside down. there are wrong sectors built and it needed to be rebuilt.this put them behind. They blamed some1 else.i have the Shots of it all:) what did they tell the beach?
i am currently serving my last year in the army i plan to do the survival, drilling and riggers courses as a resettlement. can any one give me advice on finding work and are these courses a good idea?? thanks.
If you had Neil the Crane op(pro Boxer), Sustenone 250,decca durabolin and fights in plonkersDAle shorts, then your life must have been crap.Oh And PAUL , tha Toolpusher. Nowen.what a pair. who sucks who?
