I rode a horse, he spooked, but he went maybe 1 cm and tucked his rump in. That's because he was taught to control his spooky-ness. This was a mess from go. NEVER put someone on a horse and not give them the means to control it, and holding the front of the saddle? thats like one of the first things you teach a rider NOT to do......for obvious reasons. The kid needs a new trainer and that fool dont need to be near a kid and horse at the same time again.
Ok people. The horse was TAPPED with a rope! He's got meat on his bones, he's obviously well taken care of. By the looks of it, they weren't planning to ride the horse for long, it wasn't as if they had him out for an hour and a half without a saddle pad! (Not that I really approve of that part, but it's getting way too much attention) As for the shoes, I ride my horses barebeck, bridleless, and barefoot, am I also doing something wrong? She was less than 5 feet from an adult. CALM DOWN PEOPLE!

Pushing buttons is NOT what this horse was doing. My appy gelding was a button pusher. You could kick him till your legs fell off and smack him with the crop till your arms were gone and he wouldn't do anything except kick out or stand there. Although the first lesson I had on him, I cried because he wouldn't move, I had his number by the end of the month and got to the point where I didn't even need a crop. I was the only 1

Get a saddle pad please! An inexperience rider doesn't need to put feet in the stirrups & try to hold on to an english saddle with both hands, that is like holding on to a wet bar of soap. Always one hand on the mane of the horse and the other on the saddle. If a horse bucks, rears or misbehaves, it needs to be corrected. A smack on the neck or a yank on the harness will do. It's like teaching a child, you let it get away with misbehaving, the horse will have bad habits for life.
WTF is that man's problem? There was no saddle pad on that pony, and it didn't look like the saddle fit AT ALL. It isn't the horses fault that he was in pain, or that the kid didnt stay on. tbh, no you dont NEED a saddle pad at all if your saddle fits correctly, and you shouldnt put a saddle on a horse that doesnt fit anyway, and since when have you ever seen a horse doing a show hunter class wearing a saddle pad, you dont, and i ride my horse with out a saddle pad he isnt dying, i am not cruel and also thats what my saddler has told me to do, and its their choice if their chid doesnt wear a hat, its personal preference! :) x

@ILove1234Music my saddle is double padded but i still use saddle pads.... because its the leather rubbing thats the problem, not how much padding there is. plus if you look at any of the pros like Anky she even rides with saddle pads when she shows... so you should really learn this stuff before you run your mouth

Many people ride without pads. It's not something I like but it is something many people do.
That horse was not hit with malicious intent. It was a tap to get its attention. Notice that it respectfully moved its haunches away when he was flicked. It's a basic in ground work and it's the response you want. 'Specially when someone gets bucked off. Unless you plan on sitting on the horse and giving it a schooling.
i can see though why a little kid couldnt stay on with a little buck though. depends on how expirenced you are .. but the horse isnt mean :P id do the same thing with no saddle pad :P

i can tell you right now why he bucked. it wasn't "just to have a little fun" like these idiots are saying.
1. the dog spooked him.
and 2. he was uncomfortable because there was no saddle pad.
i'm not saying it was wrong to hit the horse, because i completely agree that they should be immediately corrected when they misbehave, but i'm just saying i don't think it was his fault.

Didnt happen again and she aint head shy. you dont NEED a saddle pad. and you can ride with or without helmets sure their a nice brainbucket but hell we m,ight as well never take em off cause horse pple....we just accidents waiting to happen. This was a mess from go. NEVER put someone on a horse and not give them the means to control it, and holding the front of the saddle? thats like one of the first things you teach a rider NOT to do......for obvious reasons. The kid needs a new trainer and that fool dont need to be near a kid and horse at the same time again.

Ok people. The horse was TAPPED with a rope! He's got meat on his bones, he's obviously well taken care of. By the looks of it, they weren't planning to ride the horse for long, it wasn't as if they had him out for an hour and a half without a saddle pad! (Not that I really approve of that part, but it's getting way too much attention) As for the shoes, I ride my horses barebeck, bridleless, and barefoot, am I also doing something wrong? She was less than 5 feet from an adult. CALM DOWN PEOPLE!

Pushing buttons is NOT what this horse was doing. My appy gelding was a button pusher. You could kick him till your legs fell off and smack him with the crop till your arms were gone and he wouldn't do anything except kick out or stand there. Although the first lesson I had on him, I cried because he wouldn't move, I had his number by the end of the month and got to the point where I didn't even need a crop. I was the only 1

Get a saddle pad please! An inexperience rider doesn't need to put feet in the stirrups & try to hold on to an english saddle with both hands, that is like holding on to a wet bar of soap. Always one hand on the mane of the horse and the other on the saddle. If a horse bucks, rears or misbehaves, it needs to be corrected. A smack on the neck or a yank on the harness will do. It's like teaching a child, you let it get away with misbehaving, the horse will have bad habits for life.

tbh, no you dont NEED a saddle pad at all if your saddle fits correctly, and you shouldnt put a saddle on a horse that doesnt fit anyway, and since when have you ever seen a horse doing a show hunter class wearing a saddle pad, you dont, and i ride my horse with out a saddle pad he isnt dying, i am not cruel and also thats what my saddler has told me to do, and its their choice if their chid doesnt wear a hat, its personal preference! :) x

@ILove1234Music my saddle is double padded but i still use saddle pads.... because its the leather rubbing thats the problem, not how much padding there is. plus if you look at any of the pros like Anky she even rides with saddle pads when she shows... so you should really learn this stuff before you run your mouth

Many people ride without pads. It's not something I like but it is something many people do.
That horse was not hit with malicious intent. It was a tap to get its attention. Notice that it respectfully moved its haunches away when he was flicked. It's a basic in ground work and it's the response you want. 'Specially when someone gets bucked off. Unless you plan on sitting on the horse and giving it a schooling.
There is no good excuse for the lack of a helmet.
