  • In particular and you seem to be almost defending soring of these horses because your going all out of your way just to defend those miscreants who sore horses I also wanted to say that how have times changed when you watch this video 2 mont ago and obviously see that many people still sore horses and also just one more thing if you still need money to do what you want or still want 1st place plaques to show your pride and ignorance just as people did 10,20,30, or even 50 years ago why would th

  • Baby and if a horses legs sent even as thick as mine how do you think that feels for them to have to do it for your pleasure and no I don't mean you in prti

  • Hey YouTube I want to make a direct comment to grfx3 I'd just like to say that when you said and I quote " nothing is wrong with padded horses " I was wondering that I should tell you to stand on 5 pound 4 four inch pads for even just 24 hours just to see what it would be like I think you'd probably cry like a

  • To slaughter for their own families so instead of slaughtering bulls when they are under a 1yr old they are sold to rodeo where they are well feed and are used as bucking stock or calves used for roping where they can at least make it to a mature age but if u look long and hard enough everything is cruel in someway or another or so people will say... geez

  • There is nothing wrong with padded horses times have changed and only the irresponsible ignorant horse owners sore anymore. The government will ban u fine u and even give u jail time for suspected harm. And as fir rodeo goes... u can say its cruel but I'm sure u eat hamburger and steaks well how do u think farmers care for the cattle?? With hugs and kisses?!!? I think not horses are used to track cattle and to help rope and brand cattle because believe it or not people still steal livestock to

  • great padded horse 200,000//// the same horse, flatshod 2,000. that will make you so sore.

  • watching plantation pleasure sucks. i hate the safety patrolers. give people their head and let padded horses do what they do. or devalue them by flatshod.

  • @harrellBRAWNER So is all you care about money? Do you care about the welfare of the animal? Obviously not. You're greedy and heartless. You would rather see an animal in pain to entertain you. Let's make you walk with chains, pads, and blistered feet. I'm sure you'd love it. A horse isn't devalued by being flatshod, they are still the same horse, a horse that has the potential to do other things besides prancing about unnaturally. Of course all you see is dollar signs. That's sickening.

  • I hope you all realize how old this video is.

  • What a sick bunch of people these are. No doubt they support rodeo as well.

  • I hope by now you guys finally relize that Tennessee Walking horses are one of the most kindest breeds of horse, because they are getting abused and yet there hasn't been any accounts of a person getting injured from their horse, because if i was a TWH and i got sored, man would i beat the crap out of my owner. These horses don't deserve that much pain, they deserve much more than this.

  • This video is over 20 years old. It is no longer applicable.

  • @Equineify well it is still used today. and i hate it, i own a old Tennessee walking horse that used to be sored by her last owners and it shows that she even now cant stand properly on her front legs. because of this

  • so he didnt slag her but we cant see the tape .... phahah wot does he think were stupid

  • the stacked shoes alone are barbaric and archaic. Add the chains and the soring and the people responsible should serve time for physical abuse as they would to a human. The head bobbing is not normal in this exaggerated state, it is to counter balance the pain they are feeling up through their legs and through their backs. A TWH has a beautiful natural gait, with a gentle head bob. I repeat - just the shoes alone are damaging these horses.

  • IMHO

breed a stacked horse you breed the walk right out of the breed....

  • Thats just disgusting! None of those involved should ever own a horse. I dont even agree with the western reiners/ showmanship riders forcing their horses to carry their heads low. Almost to their knees. Its not natural. Do the wild horses carry themselves this way? Heck no! My mustang has a natural gait. I neither encourage or discourage it because its natural to her. She does her thing, and lets me go along for the ride. :-)

  • please sign a petition on a site called one horse at a time inc. It is to stop padding/soring tennessee walking horses.

  • Just another example of American greed and cruelty , what a shame they can't be the leaders in

changing some thing for the better the judges are a farce and the high stepping horses look GROTESQUE, not a natural gait on any of them and god help any of the brave souls who have the audacity to complain.

I thought death threats were illegal, oh yes I forgot ,that is the American way, kill or be dammed, those poor horses. God Help Them Please...

  • oh mi god ils ont pas le droit de faire sa

  • Never mind the soring, the frame that these poor guys are forced into, butts tucked, heads dragged up. It's a mockery of the most beautiful and useful gait a horse can have. Even 2 and 3 year olds are being used in ways that will damage them forever, all for "style". The judges at these shows should be held accountable for placing these animals so highly. They are the ones who hand out the awards and they should know better.

  • These people are in the same class as Ptitbull fighters--LOW

  • this is just disgusting...i dont even have words...absolutely disgusting

  • I don't think the inspections are a very good way of tesing for soring. Some horses will try to pull thier foot away just because they are feisty horses, and other horses are extremly tolerant to pain and won't even flinch if they are sored.

  • Honestly, the gate at :15 its not right, its sad, in not normal. You'd NEVER ever see a horse doing that in the wild would you? So why and how is it happening here?

  • I think the 'big lick' horses look awful even if they arn't sored, but be careful what standard you set. You wouldn't see a horse eating out of a bucket, wearing a halter, getting brushed or getting medical attention when they are sick in the wild either.

  • Not to mention, how can a person judge an animal when it's being Exaggerated? Isn't the point of horse shows to judge the animals Breed Confirmation? What exactly the animal is Supposed to do and how it's supposed to look when being ridden in the preferred style? How can someone Honestly judge TWH when they are sent into the ring a Fraud to it's breed?

  • I wonder if it occurs to people who ruin their horses in that way that the poor horses hocks are gonna be shot later in life due to the extreme angle the horse is having to walk at to compensate for how high their front end is. It's like the German Shepherds of the Equine world.

  • THANK YOU! Omg yes, my mom quit breeding shepherds because everyone started making the angles on them TERRIBLE we all knew that was wrong and my mom didnt want anything to do with that she never breed for extreme angle but for temperment, and ability. We just recently found a breeder who is the same way with champion dogs who dont have the crazy angles, shes a good happy, healthy dog and is not in pain in the result of humans trying to alter the ways of animals drastically.

  • so glad to hear there still are SANE GS-breeders! :) those froggy-ones.. horrible :(

  • That is disgusting. How can anyone hurt horses like that? They are clearly in a lot of pain.

It is sick that they put a piece of ribbon and a load of cash ahead of the horse's welfare.

I'm disgusted. Maybe they should spend a few years in those poor horse's shoes. I think they wouldn't like it.

  • The cruelty is blatant. Anyone defending this is clearly deluded. Also, for some people commenting here, I must suggest you type like intelligent people if you wish to be taken seriously. A horse in pain is never right. Is a pretty ribbon really worth the health of the horse? I think not.

  • Unfortunately, to some people a ribbon is worth a horse. I am all for flat-shod or barefoot horses. Stacks screw up the natural alignment of the horse's joints, chains cause swelling, and chemicals are used to enhance the pain the horses already feel. And all for a 'fancy' gait. The horses look like mutants! I know a very nice flat-shod walker, and he's not the best gaited horse in the world. Guess we should slap some mustard oil on him, then add a big heavy chain and a 4" stack.

  • Wow people! Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this is abuse.......or does it? The bobbing head, tucked rear end trying to compensate for the pain in the front end........You do the math! As simple as a watch on your wrist? I think not.....Try putting chains around your bare ankles and then go for a run....It just might hurt! That's the parallel here!

  • I agree with what you're saying, except for the head-bobbing part. This is actually a very natural part of the running walk gait. All TWH's will bob their head when they perform the running walk, whether they are sored or not.

  • if there were no ribbon and no money to earn this problem would not exist.....people should learn to be happy as a child that sits on a horse for the first time.....do you remember that moment? why is it gone??????

  • im a farrier in the state of tennessee and i can tell you 99% of the walking horse are sound and well kept animals. the people that say other wise are the people who do not know the right way in training a so called big lick horse. so they want to make all so called big lick horse trainers and owners look bad.

  • Tn thank u as u know i am one of the west tn trainers and the best show places are west and iddle tn. And i think it is wroung that ppl think we are bad ppl.i have a jfk stud and as u know theam are the natural going colts.and to these ppl you will never know the truth about us trainers.

  • yah they may b well kept but the way that they have those stelts and chains on that part is cruel.. they maybe alot sounder if they have them removed but its cruel how can u even say they arent in pain... i would love u 2 b one of these horses and go through everything they do. u maybe a farrier and shod these horses but u wouldnt even know wat they go through. and fair enough some ppl may not the proper training but still its cruel on these horses and they should b stopped

  • "ALL BREEDS of horse that show have something people do to enhance gait,it is seen in the ring"

this is not so. The great majority of horse breeds in the world are shod naturally, and trained only with excercises of collection or gaiting, to move differently. Enhancing gait...is only done in Saddleseat riding styles - on Morgans, Arabs and their crosses, TW & gaited breeds like them, Saddlebreds and show shetlands, and some

    hackneys.

  • Ok i am going to say this and i have had enough of ppl saying all walking horse trainers sore there horses i tell u what u do u come to my barn and check all kmy horses and there are 22 in there that i show and u tell me if any of theam are sore in a coouple of day i will put a vidao up of my park proformance horse and i know yall will say his sore but that horse is sound as a horse i pull out of the pasture.

  • I'll never understand why people feel the need to alter a horse's gate from what is natural. And no, not ALL breed shows enhance gaits. That's obviously untrue.

  • you know the icalandic horse and it´s tolt/ tölt? Such a small horse and still in tolt it can rise it´s feet pretty high for it´s own size and with them people dont need to use ANYTHING on their feet :)

  • As a person who has ridden thousands of miles in endurance competition I feel like puking when I see those horses squatting along in back and pedaling a bike in front. Walking horses are OK horses, but they're shown by a race of fools. If only we could chain concrete blocks to the bottom of their feet and admire their style as they attempt to get from here to there.

  • I do not believe that anyone can believe that that "big Lick" stride can be beautiful or "natural." B.S. Plantation walkers are the only walkers who should be judged. What a better thing to be judged on than a natural gait. My experience has been that the big lick show horses are more pacers than walking horses. I just cannot fathom how people allow this big lick competition to go on when nothing about it is natural.

  • Whoever is going through here and marking all of the intelligent comments as spam and giving them horrible karma is obviously one of the illegal abusers. Hide your shame, not someone else's compassion.

  • Agree-using chains and platform shoes is inherently un-natural- gross & cruel -as is docking tails and ears-the saddest of all is that there are folks that seriously believe it is okay to do this to another living creature. The insane drive to win at all cost is present in all sports and industries-the root cause would seem to be competition itself - think of what people do to themselves with drugs and steroids in their efforts to "win". So sad that good sportsmanship is an endangered value.

  • when u mentioned what people do just to win.. made me think about rollkur. I still dont hate Anky or any big name using it, but I never understand why such skilled riders need rollkur? :( I 100% believe anky would still be victorious even without using rollkur during her training :)

  • Some people believe Rollkur used by a very skilled professional is simply a musculature excercise like stretching in humans..its stretching the muscles and ligaments along the spine and topline and making the horse more supple while working within the legal parameters in the ring...dont' know... it's hard to say. Looks worse with a double bridle on than a snaffle.

  • I have naturally gaited Walking Horses that are barefoot and happy. It is a shame that the artificial gaits are so prized when the horse's natural running walk is beautiful. I'd love to see pads and chains replaced with people loving the animals' natural beauty and gaits, and not mutilated tails. This is why in Central KY everyone is switiching to KY Mountain Horses and their natural beauty.

  • watching all these videos they are very old and

yes change has and will happen ALL BREEDS of horse that show have something people do to enhance gait,it is seen in the ring if someone knows a quick route to victory they find it --a new day is dawning where pedigree, conformation and natural ability win the show ---judges HAVE to judge accordingly you can look at a horses shoulder and see where its legs will lift too, conformation predicts alot of ability -i love walkers change can and WILL happen

  • @aspenhillranch , they are very old?? Huh? I watched this year's shows. Same shite, different day. I pray the change happens sooner, rather than never.

  • pads and chains dont hurt the horse ....

  • nope .. sorry i disagree ... it does not cause FOUNDER .. if so why are FOUNDERED horses put on pads and wedges to help with being foundered ..?? and the chains which can only be 6 ozs do not cause lesions on the band ... but please keep posting inaccurate crap ... just like this biased video that is so out of date its pathetic ..

  • Talk about some biased news reporting. LOL!

  • I couldnt agree more! They only get one side of the story and need to look more into the situation. I think these are BEAUTIFUL horses and i LOVE the industry and shows. Walk ON!!!

  • you do know that the pads , and chains are legal right .. and we arent the only breed to use them .. right ..

  • You think that makes it right? Use your common sense and tap into your conscience. This makes me sick.

  • yeah .. i think it makes it right since there was a study done and it proved that pads and chains DID NOT hurt the horse .

  • lmao .. all shoes are held on with nails ..

  • you do realize that pads are put on just like a regular shoe .. right .. and my horses have never flintched while they were getting padded since shoeing a padded horse is no different then shoeing a flatshod horse ...and less than 2% of twh owers , breeders , and trainers even use the cruel methods that this stupid video shows .. we in the twh bus. are trying really hard with the usda get to rid of that less than 2%

  • I agree about the fox guarding the chicken coop........

  • I just ask that before anyone jumps to conclusions about these awesome horses that they take more time to understand the breed and people in it. The trainers and owners arn't the people they are made out to be, they have a true love and passion for the horses and take excellent care of these horses. In an above comment it states they dont care about their horses, wow these people know so little...they dont c the countless hours people spend and the love and affection they feel for them. walk on!

  • These people who do this to their horses don't care one thing about the horse. Evil bastards. All these methods should be completely banned! They try hard to keep their image, by abusing the horses. All they care about is money and their own arrogant ego satisfying.

  • What is the point in continuing this horrible abuse?!?!

People that sore their horses only care about themselves and have no regard to the well being of the horse. It is merely an issue of lack of confidence!

  • why keep on with the hurting/neglect of the hooves nd legs of the horse, and try methods familiar to dressage? The walk`s are close to eachother in act, why not the practicing aswell?
