It reminds me of when I was a teeenager, and I would hear a really good love song, but not having known love, it made me sad. I liked his little point at 3.39. I'm not too sure about the video, we have the 'red carpet' woman at the beginning, that theme continues through the video, but then we have two couples, one just briefly shown in the car, the other in that urban setting, hanging out. Are these the 'real' couples, showing the emptiness of celebrity life in general, and the effect it has on couples? The 'world is gonna see you shine' lyric is obviously ironic, but what the video's meaning is a bit obscure. Anyone?

I think the whole song after the first verse is ironic. The red carpet woman at the beginning set the scene, the first couple fighting in the car (private) is the same couple walking the red carpet (public & on display). They are the manifestation of the line "lonliness in style". The second couple hanging out in the urban setting are the contrast, giving meaning to the irony. They're the ones being real, where they shine for each other as apposed to "all of this world is gonna see you shine"

I've fallen in love with this song, I love the singers voice, it contrasts so well with the beautiful guitar sound (I think he sounds a little bit like Axl). The chourus is so uplifting, I love the escapism of it. I heard about through David's interview too, which was lucky since i'd heard it before but didn't know the name. Excellent taste, Turin Brakes Rock!

I don't think that whoever wrote this song wrote it about yearning after a celebrity. The video really takes from the song and despite the negative affects on gaining enough publicity to go mainstream it would have, I really think this song would be better less the video. Still a wonderful and moving piece of music, though.
