@MarioIsaGreen Clay is found next to water with the same texture of sand but in a grey colour. Just takes a while to find it (took me an hour of walking to find it for the video) but I am pretty sure notch has increased the spawn rate of it.

I have a house in a sort of valley and mobs would keep on spawning on top of the cliffs and then jumping down onto or around my house. I then found a cactus on the shore and grew a forest of them around my house. Now whenever the baddies jump down they get skewered! No need for fancy traps just grow cactus!
