Ticket prices are lower than other Rajdhani/non-Rajdhani trains (I think!). These trains are intended for the 'poor' man..the GARIB of India which is so typically a word you would expect from the great Laloo...could have used JANTA, etc.

dude i meant to say that it runs with the speed of Rajdhanis and Shatabdis! Almost same number of halts as that of the above 2....yet "Garib"??? if it had to be named "Garib", then why was it given so much glory???

I am sorry. Maybe I don't comprehend what you are saying but are you implying that the "Garib Rath" or the "Garib" or anything associated with the "Garib" should not be glorified?

Let me clarify myself anyways.

I think that the term "Garib" used in this context is derogatory and using that name to identify the possible socioeconomic class of a section of passengers is adding insult to injury. Its like Laloo is saying "aapko sasti AC gaadi to de rahe hai par uske saath yeh Garib ka thappa apne mathe pe mar lo". Typical Laloo and his warped brains.

Like I said earlier, something on the lines of AAM or JANTA should have been used.

21 coached train passed in 15 seconds. standard coach length is 22.28m and wdm-3a is 15.8m long. Total length is 483.6m, So the Garib rath is doing precisely 116 kph!!
