  • I love watching this (must've seen it a few times already!) it is a great perspective on art, and on Conan.

Thanks to the artist for this video, I'm sure Conan would be flattered and proud.

  • the good old way without the modern photoshop !

  • Not only is this video funny and informative, but I never once got bored. I can garauntee you that I will watch this again and again!

  • A-FREAKING-MAZING!

  • Nice!! Very helpful, thanks for posting.

  • this is just crazy xD

  • I love that he kept that giraffe element to Conan's caricature. :) Amazing!

  • The link I clicked for this video only showed the hair in the final drawing, and I still immediately knew who the caricature was.

  • I love how this was primarily a video about outlook and the thought process, rather than about technique itself. It's about seeing. Just fantastic, and inspiring, even if you're doing a completely different style!

  • this is a great video!

and you are an awesome artist!

  • now do Craig Ferguson!

..oh, and fantastic insight into your work!

  • amazing.

  • This is absolutely brilliant.

  • Very well done, and brilliant to boot. You have immense talent, and honorable respect for your subjects. Thank you for this.

  • What's the name of the woman at 04:58? And what does "babulous" mean lol?

  • john let sleep over some time

  • thank you sir

  • You are a great artist.

  • This video is so amazing and important, cause i wish to draw professional caricatures. Could someone plesa tell me wich pencils that gentleman uses?

  • "I'm coming for you with my pencils" haha.

  • WOW fantastic, love every thing about it. Personal i liked the picture at 16:09 better then the final one. But hey everyone was their own opinion right, which helps make art fresh each time.

    well maybe not Comedyman112

  • Fantastic!!! Thanks for sharing...

  • holy crap this was great.

  • I'm so glad I watched this. You're amazing! What a great video.

  • @comedyman112 Someone as ignorant as you would think that.

  • I jizzed at 8:31 when he took the template off.

  • the guys who disliked this were thinking that they`ll get his talent :)

    RESPECT!xD

  • I think any field of art can appreciate that. I come from another field and find many many similarities and sympathies in the work , at least.

  • increible !

  • My art teacher must see this, the next thing he will do is sell hot dogs @ street corner, nuff said!

  • @93dani yeah so my teacher,

but they will always have an excuse ,theyll probably say that this guy is not making art just some illustration work and blablabla.bullshit

    This guy rocks!

  • I can see that you become a GOOD portrait artist or caricaturist you have to be more than thorough and a total perfectionist, what a lot of hard work!! Such amazing results though. And to the artist - great hair (your own) nice and healthy and tidy. (I usually hate long hair on men because they don't know how to make it look anything but straggly!

  • Wow. Just........WOW ! Amazing artist. I just started painting in watercolor and I did a painting today and had a huge mess. the painting turned out great, but you make it looks so easy and mess free ! Years of experience I guess. Great work and I loved the mini documentary ! Thanks !

  • Wow!!!

  • That's a really amzaing likeness of Conan!!!

  • This is like The Wizard of Oz.

  • fuck yeah!

  • Im happy to see talented artist show their way of working. This video really shows a lot of the whole working process and specificly points out how long time everything takes to make. Thx John for sharing this with us!

  • The things this guy can do with watercolors....jesus!

  • Very engaging profile of one of the most interesting, (emotionally) elusive entertainers alive today. Well done on educating us on Coco

  • Great!

  • freaking amazing

  • Very well done, awesome to watch.. thanks for posting.

  • That was fascinating, thank you.

  • That was awesome!

  • Wow! An excellent video! P.S. OH MY GOD! HE'S 6'5"???!!

  • cant believe i watched the whole thing. great!

  • Awesome work!

  • Can somebody trow a light over what kind of materials is he using in the last paint of the video?....I am not sure if he is using watercolor or acrylic, (What is the colored liquid that he pours over the palette?) also I think he is making some details with chalks....thanks for the help.

  • @Lobatomic looks like he was using india ink. more than likely used a combination of a wash of the ink with some other media to finish out the suit.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed that!!

  • this felt alot like an apple video. the one where they explain the apple os.

  • i want you to make a video on Stephen Colbert !!!!!!!! [sorry to thumb whore] but thumbs up if u agree

  • Fantastic video. John Kascht , I tip my hat to you sir.

  • Simply incredible.

  • @shaboooom Not as much as your comment was. Or the fact that people had to read your ignorant BS.

  • @sh00nmeister Nope I'm pretty sure this video is more of a waste of time.

Also I don't think you know what the word ignorant means.

  • What a fantastic, brilliant and creative mind John is! Unreal.

  • What an incredible video. Thank you so much for making this.

  • Great video, subject and presentation. Good job, mr. Kascht.

  • the cone bone hahaha

  • This is way too good only to have 32k views. Sadly, if you broke up a few of the drawing/modelling montages into 2 minute videos, they would probably have a million views by now. Such is the state of youtube.

  • this guy is absolutely incredible.

  • Can't believe I watched this whole thing, but now... I think I could listen to John Kascht speak at length about any of his subjects. But especially one as interesting as Conan. Just great!

  • who's the guy at 19:13?? with the horns of hair, moustache and cigar?

  • @Matt3683683 Groucho Marx

  • Wow, the precision of the physical description would almost seem insulting in any other context - but this is AMAZING... and "cone bone" is great!

    Love this video.

  • Are you guys ready for a whole new type of tv talk show...good me neither - Conan

  • GREAT doc!

  • Would kill to see this guy capture me or anyone else

  • holy shit that was 30 minutes long? O.O damn you interesting stuff, damn you to heck.

  • I really enjoyed watching this. Thanks for sharing and to those who made this available on the internet.

  • Does anybody know where I can order clay to make sculptures like that?

  • those 2 thumbs down were from jay leno and mavis leno

  • Videography was excellent and I learned a lot from Kascht's comments.

I first groaned at the lenght, but I was hooked through and through.

  • That was pure joy to watch.

  • To all you smart people - Go fuck yourselfs for not making the world a better place.

  • beautiful!

  • I want that sculpture...TAKE MY MONEY!

  • 12:05 "I spent the day with Conan."

    Wow.

  • Much respect but where is my Andy sculpture????

  • This is incredible.

  • Excellent! That Hair is like whhhhhoaaa

  • This is great! Well done!

  • WOW! Amazing, i feel like i just took a lecture on Conan, i loved this video, i feel like i learned so much about him, iv always loved Conan iv been watching him since i was a kid, hes the only talk show host i watched, i never cared about guests i just love the guy and hes jokes. LONG LIVE COCO!!!!

  • that was pretty informative and entertaining at the same time

  • Absolutely amazing. I had no idea that caricaturists put in so much effort and research when drawing their subjects (or maybe Kascht is one of the only ones.)

  • Awesome. We love the time lapse scenes. Both are so talented.

  • This is really wonderful. Even if you're not into Conan, there is SO much you can learn from John Kascht's process. Loved it.

  • For a guy like me that cannot draw even a stick figure, watching talented men like these makes me feel so small and useless..

unnatural talent combined with unlimited enthusiasm. Perfect...

  • The master of caricature, amazing !

  • This gets me inspired as FUCK.

  • 4:58 What's "babulous?"

  • Masterful and insightful. Great stuff!

  • There is no more worthy a subject for an artist and a docu like this than Conan O'Brien. This is incredibly done.

  • This is an amazing video. Many thanks!

  • awezome documentary

  • i did not think i'd watch this all the way through...

  • Ha! I like how he starts sculpting and says, I haven't touched that for 20 years and then proceeds to sculpt a masterpiece... -___-

  • That man's a fucking talented genius. <3

  • W0W! I was blown away by this fabulous documentary, John! So engrossing on so many levels!

One needn't be a face hustler to enjoy it (although I am one)

The writing was so great... Did you construct the "script"? Edit it, too?

I fluctuate between scribbling faces and manipulating footage that I was hypnotized from the 1st frame.

    More, Sir!

    Sammy the K

  • Wonderful video on both the artist's process and insights regarding the subject he is drawing. Love it!

  • conebone :D

  • Wonderful video. I'm in awe of such a talented artist, and really enjoyed how insightful and thoughtful the commentary was. Would have loved to see Conan's reaction to the end piece :D
