  • I agree with u unknown shooter!

  • 2nd kind of cool, Glock is one ugly looking gun. I know there great but Ugly.

  • When will everyone accept the fact that you can't beat a Glock ?.

  • He was a driving force in the Hi-Cap mag ban !!!.

  • Great job! Thank you for the video.

  • I just traded for an SR9 and it's a great pistol to shoot, accurate even for my pathetic attempts at target shooting. Feels great in the hands, fits beautifully and just all around fun to shoot! Thank you for the video nutnfancy, I enjoyed it!

  • how much would 100 hollow point rounds for the sr9 cost?

  • @Spudmonkey....lmao well said, well put.

  • Where u will see the real difference is in reliability. I'll bet that you did not freeze both candidates in a block of ice, or mud puddle, or run each over with a SUV. It is under extreme conditions that the SR9 might not quite match the Glock design. After all, what counts most in any defensive handgun is RELIABILITY.

  • @alternatehistories "might not" ... might up the standard. GLock might fail in some of the above situations, just because an older design is battle proven, doesnt mean every pistol brought to the market cant hang.

  • I bought the compact .40 cal version of this pistol (sr40c) and i have put almost 500 rounds through it and i had only one strange malfunction. The slide locked back even when i had a round left in the magazine but i think that may have been a user error because i never had it happen again.

  • ill tell you glock 17 is the best there is!

  • I own both the SR9 and the Glock 17. I can honestly say that I like shooting the Glock a little more (I think it's just personal preference), but if you're on a budget, the SR9 is an excellent choice. I mean you're looking at a substantial price difference here. Regardless of what you shoot, it's all about making that weapon an extension of your hand. Two great pistols nonetheless, and a nice review!

  • I have the SR9c and I love it. smooth action, very very accurate. the shorter barrel length comes in handy on draw from the serpa holster. also love the short clip for ccl but love the 17 rd clip in open carry. Works Great as a PAM pistol. not to heavy, lots of firepower. Keep up the great work. You are a legend in Baton Rouge PD.

  • hey would you recommend SR9 over the smith and wesson SD9????

  • how does it fit the hand compaired to the Glock 17?

  • why the hell are you talking about the guys who made the gun? i want to know your review ON THE GUN!!!!!!!!!!! jesus fucking christ.. bla bla bla bla bla ~skip 5 minutes~ bla bla bla sr9 was made by bla bla bla bla bla............ -_-

  • Dude, I just bought an SR40c, I am very impressed, you should get your hands on one and put it through the paces!

  • I am at 10000 rounds through my sr9 no mods no spring replacement and 4 miss feeds. Shofar berry reliable.

  • I work at a gun store....sell these things all the time. It's not even worth comparing the SR9 to a Glock, let alone making a title stating that it is "Gunning for the Glock". There are some options to the Glock that are better for the same price as a Glock, but this isn't it.

  • I won't buy a new Ruger because they supported 11+ magazine ban, they are good guns, what a shame.

  • Put that shit away. Get a glovk

  • very thorough and complete review, but you talk to much off topic. we wanna compare the guns, not history of ruger...

  • The SR9 is on sale this week At the Ft. Drum PX for $375.00.

  • i love ruger p95 ane i am go to get my one soon so it a good gun

  • I LOVE this gun. Shoots awesome

  • I bought one on post and only paid &375 and it came with 2, 17round mags, a lock, mag loader and a case

  • Got mine for 431$ after tax....It seems like a pretty cool gun.

  • Just bought one for $422.00 at the PX at Ft. Drum.

  • @belair55zz56 That is what mine cost after tax. Great gun your going to have a blast with how accurate the damn thing is even with higher grain rounds.

  • would it be fair to say that this firearm is kinda in between the Glock 17 and the Glock 19?

  • You rock! Great review!

  • lol that deviation on the review was ultra annoying

  • I love theses Sr9 videos, the info is great. I have very little money to put toward a new gun so the more I know about the guns I might want to buy, the better.

Thanks for the Great video. :)

bytheway what do you think about the SR9c?

  • @madmopper31 look at the ruger p95 then its cheap and a realy good gun thats been put for ever

  • The SR9 is a failure because of it’s juvenile and gaudy chamber indicator, non removable thumb safety that is way to small to be workable under shooting conditions, and stock sights that make me wish it was glock sights. It’s a fail no matter how many Hickoc45 viewers waste dollars on it. Does Ruger even have a shooting team? Google says no

  • dude stay on topic! we dont care how "bill" ran the company.talk about the sr9 ffs

  • Ive shot about 500 rounds through my ruger over the space of 5 months. It hasnt been cleaned or lubricated once. It is carried everyday with me, and has never has one firing problem. I think it is gunning for the glock :)

  • You'll dig this!

  • I appreciate the info, but you might be able to get it done in one vid if you were more concise. You repeated for each point on your checklist, you repeated yourself several times.

  • Everyone has a different feel for weapons. so its open to anyones interpretation. i personally like the sr9 because its more sleek and thin and it just feels good. if i gun feels right, buy it.

  • i own the sr9 and have shot only a few hundred rounds at a time. my hand felt fine after very nice shooting. all brass goes in the same place. nutnfancy is right on all acounts exceped the safty. its not hard to push the safty on but it is by no means easy and cound never go on withought you wanting it to. i love the exstra safty on it.

i love glocks and there proven and i will buy one but i got the sr9 for alot less. the glocks dont feel great in my hand but with grip mods im sure it would.

  • Great review with good information and editorial, thank you!

  • the ruger guns got a gorgeous design.allways

  • I really wish video reviews would state at from the start "I am a Glock fanboy". Setting anything against the Glock and saying it's the standard makes mute the rest of the review. If your going to tell me where you stand, you have to tell me where you sit first.

  • The SR9 pistol is an okay pistol but not great.

  • watching your reviews is like reading the bible and you start from Genesis and go through the geniologys... thumbs up for being thorough

  • didnt bill clinton ban assult rifles and high capasity magazines in the 90s

  • Loved your review and after watching it I went out and purchased the SR9. Note for anyone who has small hands this gun is a perfect fit and got a solid deal at 410 brand new, the glock was 2nd but couldn't get a deal on it, thanks.

  • What sort of jerk speaks about the dead like that? This guy is a low-life.

  • believe I'll be getting an sr9. great review, good job.

  • @InfinityS60 you won't regret it. sights are hard though, i find myself shooting better with the glock sights, but after a while you get use to it. 1500 rounds and one jam due to bad ammo. the SR9 is flawless.

  • awesome...great work. I love all your videos.

    Glock rocks!

  • I've shot a Glock and a SR9 and i would take the SR9 anyday, Personally i thought the Glock was not nearly as comfortable as the Glock

  • @USAmenssoccer You thought the what was not nearly as comfortable as what?

  • @GollyGDean I meant as the SR9

  • @USAmenssoccer I meant the SR9

  • I happen to love this gun, It shoots great. I like size of it, I like the mag cap. I have a ruger p95, it was chunky. I baught this one, a few months ago, The thin grip reminds me of a 1911 in hand.

  • WOW! What an excellent rundown of the features! I'm buying my first and I'm almost sold! Thanks!

  • American made wins every time enough said.

  • I live in the bay area. I can get a brand new gen3 glock 17 or 19 for $565 out the door, and sr9 $455 ou the door.

  • just bought one yesterday. Just have to wait for the CA 10 day "cool-off" period to be over.

I haven't fired mine yet but I really like it. The magazines spring is very tight though, hopefully it'll loosen up a little bit in time.

I went for the SR9 over the G17 for 2 reasons: it's slimmer and fits better in my hand and secondly, out the door (DROS + tax), a Glock goes for $700 in the SF Bay Area whereas I paid $500 for the SR9

  • hmm it seems every review deems the safety switch as not needed, but from a target shooters perspective (mine) it's fantastic, safety can never be overdone. I shoot guns, not carry them, so I don't mind added safety. So if we think of it this way, there is no retraction based on the additional safety becoming "unneeded" after the recall.

  • . . . live in NJ. Fml. Lol. Also, what do we think of the sr40c?

    Thanks!

  • Thorough review! Even if you're not a fan of the gun or guns in general, you have to appreciate the time you took to offer this glimpse into the world of the sr9, which I think is a well put together pistol and a testament to Ruger's dedication to offer a quality, affirdable product. I am not the most experienced shooter, but i believe, for the money, thr sr9c, is unbeatable. That being said, I have a question: does anyone know if there is a 15 rnd mag available for the compact version (sr9c) I

  • @MrPaulius19 No doubt its not as manly as all YOUR videos! Run along, jackass. -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy You suffer from brand myopia!

  • @nutnfancy unutveryfancy?

  • @MrPaulius19 No videos. No legitimate critique for you to make. FAIL!

Go home and play Duck Hunt on your Nintendo and don't open your mouth unless you have something to contribute to the discussion; be it positive or negative. Grow up. If you don't like the SR9 then fine, but you don;t need to be an asshole about it. The only thing here GAY is your channel.

I only have a couple of videos of my Hi-Point C9 on my channel; but overall I keep to myself!

    have a nice day jerk!

  • @MrPaulius19 I'm really glad that you have finally admitted this to yourself, its far better than ruining some poor girl's life.

I just don't understand why you chose this as the arena to come out. I suggest you start by talking to your family, then hit the clubs and have a blast.

  • @MrPaulius19 Statement of your personal status?

  • @MrPaulius19 it's better than your blow up doll. long live the SR9

  • @MrPaulius19 owned

  • nutn, I mean this in a respectful way, but with guns like the Beretta or the H&K, what's the point of reviewing them if all you do is bash 90% of it's features and say how the Glock is so much better?

  • @SecretService80 I think the Glock is being used as a benchmark. I thought this video was very favorable toward the SR9. My buddy likes Glock but I'm liking this SR9 better for my tastes.

  • if you cant afford ammo, why dont you reload? Once I started I almost like reloading more than shooting. One heck of a hobby.

  • decent review but it was kinda biased, glocks are great guns but i prefer the xd9

  • "If you can't get the job done with 17 rounds...you suck."

I'm typing this from the afterlife right now cuz you killed me.

  • 1911 .45ACP, 100yrs old and still going. The way I see it, Glocks have some catching up to do.

  • After firing a SR9, G17, MP9, and 92fs side by side. The Ruger blows them all away for comfort and recoil. I've had 3 failures on the G17 in 800 rounds, 6 with the MP9 in 350 rounds, and 0 jams for both the Beretta and Sr9 in roughly 600 rounds each.

I know its an older video, but you talked me into the SR9 with this video series. I am very glad you did. My other pistols have not seen much light since this purchase. You have some great info on these videos.

  • @Kanthor420 ive got a 1000 out of my glock with no jams and at this huge gun store where i live they told me they get more sr9 sent back for repairs then then glocks and they sell more glocks then sr9s just saying theres a reason why its cheaper

  • I know this is an older video. but compared to the Glock, which grip is more compact? I know you have larger hands so I guess I can ask which grip is smaller? My hands aren't small but I shoot better with pistols with smaller grips.

  • When you say that civilians should have all the options that military/police forces have, does that include fully automatic or select fire weapons? Anybody else who knows his position on this can jump in too haha

  • I noticed as you were moving it around on your "show room" that you could clearly see the recoil spring and a noticeable gap between the frame and slide. I'm already pretty sure i'll end up buying the sr9 but do you think that kind of gap is something to worry about in sandy, SW american environments? I don't plan on draggin it in dirt or anything but is it something to worry about for people that prefer the outdoors opposed to keeping it as a home-defense weapon? Love your reviews, man.

  • @dsandwhich00 dont know if you got your answer yet..but that gap is designed to let sand/dirt out. They accepted that dirt is gonna get inside the gun no matter what. so they "designed" a way for it to come out. well they just ripped it off the glock. or so ive heard.

  • @andrademeza Might as well emulate a proven beast, right? :-) I got the sr40 instead and I love it, btw.

  • @dsandwhich00 haha right. Nice i decided to go with the sr9c, i just picked it up from the dealer bout an hour ago.

  • PEOPLE SHOULDNT STICK WITH SAME GUN ALL THE TIME I LIKE 45 1911

  • hey why are all these people that have never been under stressful situations talking about guns? trust me this is a fact nothing beats ruger. hey kid put your glock and head on the line in street wars with that top eject piece of bull clean or dirty glocks jam. look up how many vids on glocks jamming and look for rugers on the world wide web! hmmm big difference. ya think?

  • pffffffffffffff

  • I find the SR-9 more reliable, and more accurate than a Glock. However, i hate the dual tone SR-9, looks like a woman gun. But it jams less than a glock, and has better groups.

  • i can see up your slide ;) no realy i can sand + gap = FAIL

  • Mr. Ruger said, "He didn't believe a civilian needed more than 10 rounds." (paraphrase)

  • clips r for gulsss lol magz r for men

  • I'm sorry, but I feel like this is a bit biased towards the Glock. but i suppose it's like an AR-15 guy reviewing any other assault weapon, he'll lean towards the AR every time.

  • @TheBlueManChoo Or they know the superior firearm...

  • @TheBlueManChoo Generally people lean towards what they like and are use to.

  • @TheBlueManChoo Please don't refer to them as assault weapons. That arms the Brady Campaign and other antigunners more ammo.

  • @TheBlueManChoo Only because, wether you like it or not, the Glock IS good. not the best, like he says in either this or other videos ive seen, but it is the gun HE uses as the standard of measure for a Full-sized 9mm pistol.

  • lol, nutn sounds so much more southern in these old videos

  • Can you review the new Ruger LC9 !!! Please ...

  • Had a Glock 22 and fired it alot.Had a few issues with it.Got a Ruger SR9 and have fired 10 of thousands of rounds through it.Love it.Not a single hitch as yet.

  • Have you found a gun that will beat the Glock 17/19 in each category?

  • @_@ must... buy...a... glock....

  • GLOCK GLOCK GLOCK BLAH BLAH BLAH

  • if only they made guns in two versions, polymer frames for the people who want polymer, and then metal frames for people who want metal.

  • Nutnfancy: Tactical clinic= The desert . LOL

  • all i hear is glock glock glock glock glock ......

  • @mkooms01 they arent half bad. I am more of a HK fan.but i give Glock alot of credit.

  • @KeithWasHere1 I definitely believe you, but still he says it a lot, i didnt feel he was being truly impartial in this video, but whatever its not my video.

  • @mkooms01 well if Ruger,Springfield,S&W and Sig made such a great design as the Glock whole line of pistol maybe you would here these other names.

  • @CDMJDMHHC well said.

  • @mkooms01 that is because there is no other word that needs to be uttered.

  • @tactical2bagpipes LoL, I like Glocks don't get me wrong, but i don't like the feel of the handles angle they all have, they're excellent shooters though.

  • @mkooms01 It is kinda odd how that works. Many people dislike the Glock platform because of the grip angle. I personally find them to be the most comfortable and controllable grip design. Kinda funny how small differences in the shapes of our hands can cause such a difference in preference. My dislike for Ruger goes all the way back to the p89. Ruger just builds a shitty autoloader, they build world class revolvers and should stick with that. Nobody in the tactical world takes ruger seriously.

  • @mkooms01 The glock is the standard to all pistols.

  • @OutDoStuff not even close. it's the nuthuggers weapon of choice that is all. standard to all pistols? you got to be kidding me. if there was one it would have to be the colt 1911

  • nutn, there has been a guy in the uk bringing firearms in and this video was on my regions news! no sound but video.. did you know about that?

  • He oughta update this annotation to say he got the gun replaced and it worked fine.

  • sooooooo beautiful :)

  • i can only afford 3 handguns.a s&w 642,i carry every day in a pocket holster.an sr9 i carry when i'm out in the boonies in a shoulder holster ,and a 22/45 ishoot the most[cheeper ammo.]my only rifle is a 10/22.my point is,i have had great luck with ruger products.

  • @mopperone you need to chill & watch more than 1 video; a lot of the guns he "borrows", he does so for months. To the point that he purchased a CZ75 off a friend that he had on loan for over a year. You'd also realize that after running the Sr9 he bought one, he even posted update vids. You'd also learn he owns at least one 22/45, at least one 10/22 & several mini 14's. It's not as if he doesn't like/own/have experience w/ the products. As for the length he's giving his opinion & reason for it.

  • @mopperone lol you sure did 9/11 the hell out of this nutnfancy vid, which why im assuming lately he's been disabling rating his vids

  • I thought you were going to review the gun I see no reason to bring out a magazine with Bill Rugers picture. You really have no way of knowing which direction he would have taken his company. Stick to the topic which is the gun.

  • @Lokpyrite Your kind of vile and vulgar comment is just the kind of fuel the gun grabbers need. To show such rage and hate for a gun maker who was somewhat conservative is way off the map. Keep it up, it's your kind of vitreal that makes us all look bad. Thanks for helping the left prove their point....

  • @Michael6by6 You're right, Michael. That comment was so unnecessary, I removed it. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • @mopperone He is a bit annoying.

  • @mopperone Bill Ruger is a douche. I will never own any of their shitty products.

  • @a2birdcage Well now, that's an intelligent, well thought out critique. Hope your a gun owner, shows others that we are so sophistcated and deserve to bear arms. Thanks for such a thoughtful comment. You make us all proud dude...

  • @a2birdcage they are to every ruger ive own has these stupid pins that pop out all the time

  • Any updates on the sr9 trench warfare drill why it went into battery numerous times?

  • have you ever done a safty cheak and found that it was loaded

  • @Rasey07 ok, thank u anyways

  • @Rasey07 i looked at the ruger sight for the springs & everything they had & i was wondering, is there some sort of special term for the spring ur talking about? is it a striker spring or a latch spring of some sort or wat? also was it just one spring or several?

  • @Rasey07 that helps alot, thanks for the info

  • @Rasey07 ya cause ive heard of that as a complaint about the sr40. i like the idea of the extra stopping power behind the sr40, but the trigger pull was a small turn off {not a deal breaker though}. could u order the sr9 trigger spring on ur own & swap them out w/o the smith for a descent price? and i dont no alot about pistols so ive been wondering, how does the .40 s/w round compare to the 45 acp? ide imagine less stopping power, but is it rlly a huge difference?

  • @Rasey07 is there any difference in the trigger pull?

  • ok, im looking at getting a 9mm and am between the sr9, xd9, m&p 9, and glock 17. I went and checked out the sr9. Did anybody else notice that its hard to use the slide release? I could see if you were wearing gloves you wouldnt be able to release it.

  • @mxbuddy595 I'd say either the XD or the glock, see wich one fits your hand better.

  • is there any real difference between the sr9 and the sr40 other than the caliber and the magazine capacity? reliability, recoil etc

  • A bullet won't suddenly appear in the chamber, so why would you do more than one safety check? In my opinion, it's unnecessary.

  • Nice video. I just had a question. I heard a rumor that glocks are made to shoot low left for beginer shooters. It really doesn't make sence to me. Can you make a video shooting a glock from a vice to possibly debunk this myth or at least give an explination for it? Thanks.

  • I seriously wish I could get anything more than a 10 round magazine up here in Canada, but either way great review, hope to try one out! Big fan!

  • know where to get a bulletproof vest?

  • hey I was just wondering how would high capacity magiznes protect ruger sales this claim makes no sense to me there is nothing wrong with more rounds

  • I totaly want this gun now! Thanks!

  • what you think about cal.45 1911

  • when i sent my sr9 after the recal thay gave me 2 boxes of ammo an extra mag and said they were sorry it had to happen

  • how much do they go for brand new in a box

  • @jackedunderme123 The MSRP is listed at $535, I found one at my local (Minnesota) gun store for $445

  • Have you reviewed the s&w 500? I know it is in know why a practical gun, but my cousin bought it and i cant get over the stopping power on that gun.

  • "If you can't get the job done if you have 17 rounds, you suck." Nice review, still loving that Glock I see. I'm kind of glad that you use your favorite gun as the standard instead of not using a comparison point.

  • I'm gonna get the Ruger SR40 soon.

  • is the fnp better thane does 2

  • Does anyone know if this SR9 is double action? I can't find any info from Ruger....

  • @DjEndurancE it is

  • @DjEndurancE I dont know how it would be DA. There is no way to decock it other than firing the round. Im pretty sure it is SA

  • @DjEndurancE The SR9 is a semi double action, as the slide is racked, it sets the striker part way, then pulling the trigger sets the striker all the way back, so it's a lighter trigger than double action, but heavier than full single action. You don't have full double action as there is no second strike capability, and no true single action as the trigger completes the re-set. The trigger is WAY lighter on the SR9c than the old trigger on the full size SR9.

  • @Michael6by6 Oh I see. Thanks for clearing that up! And I assume the Glock 17 is probably the same setup...?

  • My Mate made a his own custom Magazine(Not to sure how exactly) but he used a few Magz and connected them together, 'somehow' and he had just under 100 rounds..... Was crazy but it did jam every now and then was the only downside!!!!

  • I know your video has been out for some time but I disagree that the safety on the SR9 is "superfluous". I own both but I like the fact that it would take a less educated user more time to fire the gun. Advantage Ruger because it offers a higher level safety.

  • May I have your opinion on these specifics guns: Ruger SR9 & the P95, Baretta PX4, and the Barsa Thunder. I'm looking for a gun that is comfortable for the larger than average hand, under $500, reliable, concealable, and (just b/c I'm picky) preferable all black. Thanks for any advice.

  • I love your videos.

    Keep making them.

  • 3:50 Bill Ruger wasn't digging polymer guns, but he sure did dig gun control legislation

  • This guy seems to know his biscuits.

There's a problem with that. Guy's who know what they're talking about often tend to leap ahead in a presentation. I guess it's because their deep knowledge keeps throwing more useful info at their tongue and enthusiasm does the rest.

    He needs a backpull rope.

Sorta....Whoa.....'you're off track'......and give that rope a pull.

Do the media people call that a 'producer'?....I dunno.

Good guy though. I'm gonna watch the next one.

  • I know that is a weird request but perhaps maybe nutnfancy could review more California legal guns? I know there aren't too many cool guns that are legal here but I'll be getting my ccw soon and I want to get a good one.

  • Has it come back from the factory NutnFancy? I'm more of a sr9c fan but I'd like to know how Ruger dealt with the issue and if you were satisfied with their customer support?
