  • Yep. Started early and had to quit. Bluesed up a rock and roll song. Not worth listening to.

  • Yeah i like this version too. His new stuff on xm 21 is great. Comes out next week.

  • MAGNIFICENT !

  • he produced the song so he can do whatever the fuck he wants with it dumbasse! He's the shit!

  • WOW! Nice, absolutely respect of you guys. Hope I can do the same if I come aged.

  • I loved it - do you guys not get the notion of a little bit of variation??? Very clever - in fact too clever for some.

  • Jools seems to be a bit irritated also, wtf is Dion doing there???

  • Of course his age must come into question!, you can't sing exactly you did over 50 years ago!!.. that is what most people do not understand..

  • at least get your timing and phrasing right - yo sound all over the shop

  • This is so sad. I really hate to say it, but he should have quit while he was ahead.

  • @mfwills He still has it! Just a bad day. Try this one: youtube.com/watch?v=JvGktPaDAPM&feature=player_embedded

  • Did he have a stroke or what? This is sad.

  • Dion!! I didnt even know you were still alive man!! You are true rock and roll, all the way!!

  • Great version! Thanks Dion - nice see a legend from the early 60's looking like someone who exists in this century. Cool groove!

  • Oh well to each his own. I'm a rock and roller through and through but the blues runs deep in my soul.

  • Hello everybody!!! He only changed the melody and and vocal delivery. This early rock and roll song like many of that time is based on a blues progression. I feel sorry for those of you who don't like this version because of it being bluesy, because in reality the origanal was just as bluesy. I think his deeper voice makes it sound a little bluesier. It's funny how people don't realize how close some early rock and roll is to blues.

  • @MrMattRocker Bluesy or not, it still sucks. It's even hard to recognize that it's the same song. It sounds tired, bloodless and lame.

  • I like this! Nothing wrong with rearranging your own classic song. It's the same song, and I think it sounds just as good.

  • Comparitiively, it's pathetic

  • Fantastic version, Dion. Nice beat. Meaningful.

  • he should have kept it original. now it sounds like the fucking blues, and i HATE the fucking blues

  • Two things. It IS a blues song (by progression) and he didn't mess anything up. You just don't know how to listen to it.

  • I like this version...i dont prefer it, i just like it

  • my god Dion youre done finished. hang up the mic. you were one of the best back in the late 50s early 60s. not today old and tired

  • Stick to the original

  • Stick to the origin

  • shut up all you negative retards! This is great stuff. you wouldn't know it if it hit you squarely in the face, because you don't know squat about good musik. so just shut the fuck up and go collect your unemployment check!

  • Is Dion becoming Gary Busey?

  • Why are People so negative,Write your own song's and when your 70 you too can play them and sing and arrange them any way you like.

  • Show some respect--it's great to hear an artist rearrange one of his classic hits. If you like the original better just listen to the record.

  • no, your right. It's just terrible.

  • at first i hated it but it isnt that bad

  • I like you Dion, a whole lot. You've have excellent experience. “Long live Dion!”

  • wow there's some funny shit going down here...ummm it's cool,it's like ya all said matter of opinion...

  • What's wrong with re-arranging an old classic? I like both versions. You wanna listen to the same ol' same ol', buy the record!

  • If he listened to this version back in the day he would have told his old self that he sucked!!!

  • Given that this had to be more than 40 years after the original, give the man credit for still having the balls to get up and have a go! Bluesed up or not - good onya Dion!!

  • What the F---???? The mind is a horrible thing to waste Long live the original song DION!

  • hes messing up all of his good old songs i like the originals

  • ALL YALL HATERS ARE GOING TO GROW OLDER TOO Wait till your wives or even your kids hate you because you got older you aint going to be exlackley like you were when you were 20 when your 60 so get ready to grow old too your time is coming respect your elders especially when you have never even made a song you just read this and got older too leave the musicians alone

  • Everyone gets old voices go away after time.

He wrote the damn song! He can change it any way he damn pleases!!!

.....And you and i both know you can't do it any better!

So do everyone a favor and shut up instead of insulting the true musicians still left making music!

  • Just sing the fucking song the way its supposed to be sung. I sing this song better than him now

  • Hes the one that wrote the song so how can he mess it up? He dont play songs everyone likes. He left that to the beegees :-P

  • dat sounds shit

  • Funny how all the rock stars from the 50's and 60's are dead and Dion is still going strong

  • you people are stupid

no matter how he sings it, its a great song and i love this version just as much as the original. yea it dosent sound like classic dion but its still badass

  • Well, he's getting up there in years and I'm sure he gets tired of singing the old arrangement over and over and over again. That said, this is painful to watch.

  • dion still has the spirit and the force is with dion in this song!!!1 all those years later!!! hey i was 11 when that song was on top 40

  • Yikes, this is sad and lame. Also see: recent Chuck Berry stuff.

  • This video was so painful to watch. I love Dion but this was just awful...

  • I agree, he was the best, dunno whats up with him here,, WHY Dion WHY... I have his album King of The New York Streets, from the 80's that does rock big time.... great piano player here tho...

  • Shit, drop off the perch..... u r shithouse.

  • Why can't they just die? Rock and roll has turned into farce; same old songs (written by others) 40-50 years later, dribbling piss down their legs

  • I think the problem was that the arrangement was uncomfortable to Dion. I've experienced the same as a vocalist. If the song stumbles right at first, it throws off your groove and confidence. You try and muddle through, but it's probably best to just stop right at first and begin it right. This stumbles all the way through. I saw him on the R&R 25 year Hall of Fame video and he pulled it off flawlessly.

  • For me it didn't work.I love Dion and I think he still has a great voice.I wish he would keep to the original arrangement. It was a classic.I've never liked the way he's done it over the last 40 years.I think he's become a lazy singer.

  • this is shit !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He was the best singer of all time. Dion you should know better that to blues up an old rock song. If you want to do blues just write a blues song. Don't end your career by changing. We loved you the way you were.

  • @hilanderone agreed!

  • a fantastic version!!!

  • alzheimer schade

  • He's Dion.a DEMIGOD...He can do what he likes....

  • yeeeeeeeee

  • hes singing this song in a more bluesy type style sounds different then the original..

  • dion fucked it up!!!!!

  • awesome, simple as, Dion = Superb, I wonder when Jools will be recognised as the superb musician he is?

  • One of the most influential artists in rock and roll history. A New York badass rocker, who overcame huge hurdles in His life, and came out on the other side, a new man in Jesus!

Multiple hits! Legendary career! A man who walked with, and worked with, all the giants in the industry. Dion, you are the man!!!

Thank you for your powerful Christian witness and for sharing your incredible gifts and talents with the world! God bless Dion!!!

  • jools on the keys

  • hes like country now

  • didn't know this one hit wonder was still around

  • @NicaDutch

That is the remark of a musically illiterate prat.

Dion had several huge hits around this period.

Go and get the cloth out of your ears you fucking half wit.

  • Faggot

  • This is like an unplugged version. He put a blues twist to it. Kind of like what Clapton did with many of his songs. It's got a groove.

  • Elvis who? MJ who? (Greats sure - but Dion is not only LIVING - so is HIS MUSIC) no resting on laurels or methods!! :) TRUE Prince of NY Rock n Roll

  • At first I was upset at this performance because he didn't remember his own words, but then it kept going and I started to dig it.

  • So fine

  • how about the drummer?!?! awesome

  • this is awesome!! i love the doo op spin on it :D lol and i love how the piano man is gettin' down

  • Dig the groove set by the back up band. Makes me wish that I knew how to Shag with my wife...

  • Cheney is the one he'll be with tonight? lol great re~make Dion, know his music :)

  • That is so cool! He's the man!

  • Man, it's so nice to see that Dion is still belting out that good old sound! Sooo good.

  • @lasurvivor47 yeah I've heard interviews of dion on public radio stations, and not only is the dude still rockin, he is like a really cool philosopher of life and time. I love all of his music and I like to hear him speak. The dude is way cool!

  • i showed my grandmother this version shes from the era of elvis and all this musis she said he spoiled his own song lol

  • Hmmmmm, I didn't like this version for the first few seconds, then all of a sudden it started sounding great! I love this version now!

  • Wo his voice is gone. Damn mine sounds just like his when he was young. Good to have another reason wanting to die before I get old D:

oh yea i think he's ruining his own song by trying to be all fancy. just sing the song and it'll keep the classic

  • @PunchlnChest

    that is complete shit

  • just beautiful and great as always!!!!!!

  • If you know anything about Dion Dimucci and his music, you will know how much soul has always influenced his music. I have heard him talk about it and this version of The Wanderer makes sense. The guy has grown up.

  • Dion is the original king

  • i think this version is brilliant, its got a great blues beat. well done Dion. still love the original,,,, this is really catchy too ;-)

  • Me Either....But We Are Oldies But Goodies Forever ! Let Us Never Forget That !

  • iloved the original and ilove this one also. this ol guy has got much talent to this day.amazing.

  • He is the man!

  • cool the OLD MAN is still doing it blues style

  • Yes, Dion's voice/stylings have changed and matured, and to fully appreciate this check out his new release, Bronx In Blue. Really great stuff.

  • Playing the song in C, that's what happens to us singers when we get older, had to lower it from the original Eb!

  • I love all his songs, but it time to call it a day !

  • @sebbby1 u are a dick head. if u liked all his songs u say he should call it a day. jerkoff

  • so what jerry lee lewis, little rihard, and chuck berry are all living

  • Did not noticed the "bluesiness" of this song until hearing this version!

    Great !

  • Awesome to see him!!!!!!

  • From a teenage punk. Just Nice.

  • dylanesque phrasing....really cool!

  • Muy buena interpretacion; donde se puede ver todo su talento....eddy torres

  • He's got the Blues because he's been wanderin' since '61.

  • If the man wants to change his tunes then be it. He is a legend. When you see Chuck Berry and Little Richard live they have changed ,I've seen them with my own eyes and it does not make them any less. I guess in part due to age and in some instances wanting to appeal to the younger generations. Lets just enjoy.

  • Pretty good for a 68 year old

  • a shout out to mr dion the king of the new streets and a newbie to the net /dont beleive it any way just seen you singing on your dvd and a big up to jerry . xxxx

  • Dion ,smooth, slick, and still producing that backstreet NewYork do-wop.

  • personally like this version very much !!!

  • personally like this version ver much !!!

  • personalyi like this version ver much !!!

  • Oh come on... How can you people expect a 68 years old man to sing like when he was thirty?!! He is not a robot... His throat grows old with him...

  • Comment removed

  • Dion is WEARING DIAPERSSS

  • The bassist looks like he's from the Adam's Family lmao

  • @TheGreatBennyMitch Yea looks like lurch:)

  • nobody is forever young....and all the voices change!

  • He is STILL the king of the New York Streets. And with attitude!! This guy is 71 years old. just amazing.

  • i'm a fan of Dion but this is fucking rubbish. he's trying to mix it up a little because God knows how many times he's performed this song, but he somehow destroyed the swagger and the energy by altering his voice. artists frequently mix it up but he lost his "sound" not his vocal capabilities. don't EVER mess with a classic like this.

  • good updated version by the man !!

  • love the original but like this one also kinda got a blues feelin to it

  • If it was Lightnin Hopkins or Blind Lemon or somebody, playing into their old age people would be more reverential. What's the problem here with some of these comments? What's wrong with people's perception of music nowadays?. People get old, it is part of life. Dion is DA MAN......he has nothing to prove.

  • he still gots it:)

  • Superbe Dion !

Ses hésitations et ses improvisations le rendent encore plus sympathique... Il était sans doute impressionné par le batteur à cravate !

Et le pianiste n'est pas mauvais !

  • Does a great job, and yes, stop criticizing, this is 2000 even Mick Jagger doesn't sound the same. Give hime alot of credit, he's come a long way and does a great job. Glad he's doin' Old Blues & Rockabilly, the albums are great!!!!

  • I like to beat my dog to this song. Take that Fletcher, stop pee'in on the floor...

  • nowhere close to the original but i mean thats kinda a given

  • Damn! he sounds Great! Got some Blues workin there!

  • that guy playin the piano is just SOOOO FUCKIN STOKED hahaha hes lovin life

  • @StonedPro haha, yes he used to be in a band called Squeeze ( up the junction?) but he landed a cushy job with the ( state subsidised) BBC TV coimpany. So no wonder the little f****r is smiling

  • @incongra

    no i was being sarcastic

  • btw anybody know what guitar hes playing? i think its the one i have, an Ibanez

  • Great! Same guy, same voice, same song as 1961, just a bit 'bluesier' is all. He's still got 'it'.

  • WOW! I just spun the ol' lady right through the kitchen floor!

  • I grew up listening to Dion. he is The King!

  • Ed3432 Dion is from the Bronx, not Brooklyn. Belmonts come from Belmont Ave, in the Little Italy section of the Bronx.

  • Love it!!! Has a ska beat to it. Dion, still the king of DO-WOP. Brooklyn's finest still kick'en it.

  • You have been a star, I love you songs, but now: Stop singing, grandpa !

  • @tantemanfred

You have joined facebook, I love "you" comments, but now: Stop writing, illiterate!

  • @theycallmelefou

Oh, one letter was missing - what a certain evidence for illiteracy !

Dont forget : English is not my native language. What do you mean : Could your comment be a sign for your disability to cope with other opinions?

  • This version telegraphs its roots. Have to admit, as a blues number, it's nearly as much fun...

  • Dion . . stir up your gospel stuff again . . it was the most powerful!!!

  • He's got better with time. Like a fine wine it gets better but he can never diminish

  • Dion is still the man. Bronx cool!

  • Whoever is "pounding" on Dion needs to take a bigger look , first , he outlived "Elvis" and "Micheal Jackson" , any questions

  • @oldrumer4u

well.. great music isn't counted in lived years.. do you think Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens were crap because they died young?

the best part about this tune is the great amount of energy. in the original version (and by status quo) there is plenty.. as blues.. its just another blues..

  • @oldrumer4u Unfortunately he outlived Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper too. :(

  • @oldrumer4u It's not just that he outlived Michael Jackson, his music is timeless too. Given the choice, I know who I'd pay money to see and it isn't Michael Jackson. Dion doesn't need expensive, elaborate sets with lights and smoke. He just turns up with a guitar and entertains. I wish you a life of well-being.

  • @oldrumer4u Haha Cause He Never Had Enough Money To Buy Drugs..

  • Comment removed

  • GREAT! Only missing a little guitar solo. But great.

  • Anyone who disses Dion sucks dead donkey dick for crack money, and will burn when their scabrous bodies give out and fart their smelly souls back to the infernal pit they came from.

  • will you people sound the same 50 years later? :) I won't.

  • i hope i can still sing at his age this is awsome he can still do the song well!!!

  • Sounds like he was "wondering" which song he was trying to sing. I dig the bluesy version of this song but he sounded a little lost through most of the song.

  • I like it . He's supremely cool now. He's got a right to sing these happy blues!!

  • Yeah, the man has evolved. He's still great, just in a different way. I'm not doing things the way I did in 1958 either.

  • @Axgoodofdunemaul

    Brilliant comment !!!

  • dion could play the plues, which he did mid sixties. He was/is a great talent. Rickie nelson hear similar stupid insults and wrote "garden party" Bob Dylan was attacked for going electric and for never singing the same song the same way.

    Great vid, thx so much

  • Wanderers Forever

  • Loved the piano playing anyways...

  • ¿Cómo canta Dion "The Wanderer" ahora, cuatro décadas después?

  • Nice!

  • Wow, awful, just awful.

  • this is one of my dad's favorites and i grew up listening to this kind of music. He working on his old cars in the garage with this music blaring loud. This music is the best ever and this guy can still sing! His music will live infinitely!

  • This is absolutely fantastic!!!

  • not very good as he older

  • Brilliant bluesy sound Dion has now. Back then it was more rocker. I love both the sounds.

  • At least he can still go.

  • reminds me of bob dylan change style & few words GREAT""

  • did anyone think that hes on jools show and he is a rythem and blues player whoops spelling anyways the piont is is it dion or jools who said its this sound ???? just a thought ppl

  • He should know the words by now and its a bit slow !!.

  • Wow! bit suprised, different but hey! still got my foot tapping. Man he must be a good age now, looks good tho. Rock on Dion.

  • to bad he change the lines, no clue why he did that. :D

  • Piano sounds good.

  • My God, 50 years on and this daddy still rocks !!

  • very different sound for a very differa

  • very bluesy
