@dexfx69 Hey thanks! Check out my pro channel I'm writing from. I have some cool playlists of various stuff I do. I'm into aerial video these days. Cheers!
I had a discectomy two months back and i am doing qt well now. Almost no pain. I myslef am a physician and though my personal experience may help others. You may find may negative comments, reports of complications etc in forums. REMEMBER that is becuase only those who had some problems will only be coming back to these forums to detail it. The thousands who has a successful surgery moves on..so dont get disheartened. Ask your doc if u need any more details
@lovarts really well said, thats exactly what i tought when i was in the forums. im getting this surgury next week i am really scared of course but not because of the complications the few people in the forums had...its just normal to be scared i guess.
Yeah me too, still a few years later, if I bump it it bloody hurts. It feels like there`s jagged bits in there doesn`t it? lol The numb patches seem to even out ok though..
I had a disc taken from my lower back, they used a bit of my hip to fuse it too, nasty thing to have to have done. I didn`t get much better either ! I`m still on morphine... Did you have to wear a neck brace or something afterwards?
I tried chiropracty, massage, epidurals, exercise, etc. If you have low back pain, mid-back pain, or whatever it may be, there is a really great read called "Healing Back Pain" by Dr. John Sarno. It conveys the most Responsible Content on the matter that I have ever come across and is NOT "about" anatomy in general. You can google his name - don't have to buy the book. P.S. I've had 2 discectomies in the past - didn't know better, and.....yeah, it's a really worthwhile read.
Thanks for the suggestion. You said you had discectomies in the past because you "didn't know better". Better than what? YOu can't fix a smashed disc, and my surrounding vertebrae had pieces missing. The operation totally fixed the pain and numbness caused by the injured disc, and now I have total function. I had a world class doctor though, who did it right with no pins or metal. The right doctor makes all the difference.
I had this last wednesday. Man the pain before was incredible. I was a little spooked going in. but hell I feel better now. I am just worried about scar tissue buildup. my surgery was in my lower back though the L5 joint. how long till your pain was gone and you were running wild?
Mine was in my neck, and they took a piece of my hip to replace the disc. I hardly felt any pain in my neck - it was the hip that hurt the most. I was limping for 2-3 weeks, and within 2 months I felt great. Just take it easy - don't be a hero and try to do more than you should. Just rent some movies, pop those pain pills and take the ride. Within 8 months the bone had totally fused and now I have no pain-and total movement. I thought I would have less movement but I'm feeling 100%.
Hey it's the best thing to happen for your back! I feel great one year later with no pain. I did act a little crazy when I came off the anesthesia . Otherwise I remember NOTHING. The worst pain was in my hip. Just rest and kick back and watch TV. You'll be fine. Enjoy the vicodin!
When I had my Back surgery, back in '94, When they woke me up in recovery, the first thing I did was grab the nurse's Boob! And she was a very Big black lady. She said, "Uh huh! We got a live one over here, and I think he'll be just fine, he ok!"
I had a hysterectomy when I was 33 years old. They told me later on that I was singing the Spongebob song! I have no recollection of that, but I'm not sure if I'd want to see myself on video like that! And the MORPHINE was grrreat!
I don't remember the stuff that happens after I say "Get 30 seconds of me comming on." I was joking around, "Can I get a Ruben before the operation?" but I was totally messed up then, and have no memory of what I said. They told me that I would most likely not remember. You have to watch the Post Op stuff!
Chad, you're an astounding spirit.

Yep. Neckbrace for 6 to 8 weeks. Strangely it was my hip that hurt more after the operation.

I hear you. Many doctors are just trying to do surgery to get a paycheck.

I just had a lumber discectomy, flavectomy, and foraminotomy. All I got to do when I came to was throw up.
Of course here in Germany, we don't use morphine drips... dammit.

Was your babbling intentional or did they already have you on enough drugs that you didn't know what you were saying?
