Based on the first shot, I am guessing that you recorded a sequence of notes with MIDI into a program, the program is looping it, and you are playing with the effects on the Little Phatty in realtime via MIDI
why isnt there a single youtube cover of on the run with the correct note sequence? its the main part of the song, shouldn't you people take twenty seconds to look up the sequence of notes?
my bad sorry about that man and yeah i think you may be right has that polysix 80's ish sound to it in a way i suppose the moog filter sounds a side fatter but on youtube its difficult to tell anything forsure.
@imagesunlimiteduk it was made with 2 ems synths , EMS Synthi AKS and EMS VCS3 , david gilmour programmed a sequence of notes into the ks sequencer then sped it up , while roger waters made the "future car" noises with the VCS3 joystick controller ( i have heard conflicting reports that it was an AKS but to my ear the filter sounds like a VCS3 16db not the later 24db). and i know this because i am a muso ,synth player and work in recording and above all else am OBSESSED with the floyd.music=life
pink floyd really are in essence the definition of progressive rock , they always used the best of the new gear available to progress thier sound to another level , many techniques pioneered by them and certainly alot of unconventional ones , to credit thier creativity just to producers and others is not right at all , sure alan parsons is great but he didnt write DSOTM and eclipse shows had been around b4 him anyway , they were much more than a jazz, blues band who owned a bunch of synths.
yes and no, dark side of the moon was more a "psych" album than prog. alot of times in progressive rock they have over 10 minute "epics" that vary in alot of music styles, key and time signatures. i am aware pink floyd did make "epics" but not on DSOTM.... id say more that Gentle Giant and King Crimson are the definition of progressive rock.
ill pay that however DSOTM was one HUGE epic from start to finish with the exception of where you have to get up and flick the record over , thats the whole point of the album (as roger waters once said "i dont write songs i write albums!) , and if you take that into account then DSOTM does vary much in time signature ,style, sound and feel from start to the very end (and some of thier earlier work like echoes and atom heart mother) they are designed to be listened to in full length from .
however i believe it is just a plain example of not really being able to "classify" or "label" the floyd with anything definatively because they were so very very unique , but hey they have to have somewhere to stick it in the record shops ( i hate it when i am looking for pink floyd and in the rack above is fucking Pink makes me ill) .
software can only recreate and build parts of the analog (100% electrical signal) as digital (data) parts of sound, so software can come similar to the Moog analog sound, but it can't sound just like it.
pull yer panties outta yer crack.. I never said I didnt like the floyd. I'm a huge floyd fan and a huge DSOTM fan. Just dont think the Flkoyd are "PROG" Like I said I would call them space rock. THey were a blues/jazz/rock/folk outfit who happened to own a bunch cool synths and work with some great producers. Great stuff. So get off your platform cuz no one is gonna listen..
no problem man.. Sorry if I went off but its impossible to make a comment on youtube without people misinterpreting it. But seriously I love Pink Floyd. I have even had the privilege of speaking with Alan Parsons about the production of DSOTM and Atom Heart Mother. Great stuff.
it's been 35 years and this song still rocking all the world... this is the difference between an average rock band and to be a perfect and amazing band like Pink Floyd
You better go catch it!

Other than that, good work modulating the tone.

Question: Is it the physical being of the Moog that enables it to sound how it does?
Or is it the little computer board inside it?
In other words.. would be possible to have a software that could recreate the Moog sound down to its every detail?
NimaSun 3 years ago

Fantastic! Love the filter sweeps!
I don't want to be a nit picker (but I guess I'm going to be anyway)...
The 2nd note event in your sequence is a half-step off.
Try using these notes
EGAG DCDE
(the 1st group below middle C, the 2nd above)
Keep making Rick proud!

nah...
prog is about capes, ruffled shirts, and complex music..
The floyd are NOT complex. Plodding space blues rock is what I would call them. Dark Side of The Moon prog? No way.

fuck off man, go away and try make something nearly 1 percent as good as dark side of the moon.
