  • You better go catch it!

  • Based on the first shot, I am guessing that you recorded a sequence of notes with MIDI into a program, the program is looping it, and you are playing with the effects on the Little Phatty in realtime via MIDI

  • How are you able to sequence the moog ? i want to buy one and i was wondering if you can do that .

  • brilliant version!!!!!

  • That's not ALL coming from the Phatty in real time, is it ? What did you use to sequence ?

  • 0:11 FAIL!!! E-G-A-G, not E-G-G#-G...

  • why isnt there a single youtube cover of on the run with the correct note sequence? its the main part of the song, shouldn't you people take twenty seconds to look up the sequence of notes?

Other than that, good work modulating the tone.

  • my bad sorry about that man and yeah i think you may be right has that polysix 80's ish sound to it in a way i suppose the moog filter sounds a side fatter but on youtube its difficult to tell anything forsure.

  • @imagesunlimiteduk it was made with 2 ems synths , EMS Synthi AKS and EMS VCS3 , david gilmour programmed a sequence of notes into the ks sequencer then sped it up , while roger waters made the "future car" noises with the VCS3 joystick controller ( i have heard conflicting reports that it was an AKS but to my ear the filter sounds like a VCS3 16db not the later 24db). and i know this because i am a muso ,synth player and work in recording and above all else am OBSESSED with the floyd.music=life

  • Awesome :P

  • pink floyd really are in essence the definition of progressive rock , they always used the best of the new gear available to progress thier sound to another level , many techniques pioneered by them and certainly alot of unconventional ones , to credit thier creativity just to producers and others is not right at all , sure alan parsons is great but he didnt write DSOTM and eclipse shows had been around b4 him anyway , they were much more than a jazz, blues band who owned a bunch of synths.

  • yes and no, dark side of the moon was more a "psych" album than prog. alot of times in progressive rock they have over 10 minute "epics" that vary in alot of music styles, key and time signatures. i am aware pink floyd did make "epics" but not on DSOTM.... id say more that Gentle Giant and King Crimson are the definition of progressive rock.

  • ill pay that however DSOTM was one HUGE epic from start to finish with the exception of where you have to get up and flick the record over , thats the whole point of the album (as roger waters once said "i dont write songs i write albums!) , and if you take that into account then DSOTM does vary much in time signature ,style, sound and feel from start to the very end (and some of thier earlier work like echoes and atom heart mother) they are designed to be listened to in full length from .

  • however i believe it is just a plain example of not really being able to "classify" or "label" the floyd with anything definatively because they were so very very unique , but hey they have to have somewhere to stick it in the record shops ( i hate it when i am looking for pink floyd and in the rack above is fucking Pink makes me ill) .

  • man i'm saving up money for one of these sweet pieces of musical engineering. well done my friend.

  • sweet

  • You post something this awesome and people are saying stupid shit like "you missed a note" man that sounded really cool, exactly like it!

  • non sono le note esatte mi dispiace.

  • dispiace anche a me. solo le prime 4. anzichè mi sol la solo, suona mi fa sol fa.

  • it is the wrong notes compared to the recording, but ive watched concerts where they use different notes also, it doesnt matter

  • Pink Floyd! AWESOME remake!

  • yes, everything ok but the fourth note

  • Super synth!!

  • Fourth note is wrong

  • no, the notes are ok

  • It's actually the 3rd note that's wrong. Should be a A not A flat.

  • Yea, A

  • mi sa che ti piaciono i pink floyd!

  • er, the sound fx sounds good, but wrong notes

  • Wrong notes. See mine.

  • I like this a lot. Your version has soul.

  • yes mate twist them tunes. take them to 11

  • do your homework....twas not done on a moog....

  • cant... choose... between... mono... or... poly

  • choose both...

  • Question: Is it the physical being of the Moog that enables it to sound how it does?

Or is it the little computer board inside it?

In other words.. would be possible to have a software that could recreate the Moog sound down to its every detail?

  • software can only recreate and build parts of the analog (100% electrical signal) as digital (data) parts of sound, so software can come similar to the Moog analog sound, but it can't sound just like it.

  • Fantastic! Love the filter sweeps!

I don't want to be a nit picker (but I guess I'm going to be anyway)...

The 2nd note event in your sequence is a half-step off.

    Try using these notes

    EGAG DCDE

(the 1st group below middle C, the 2nd above)

    Keep making Rick proud!

  • classic!

  • Pink Floyd!!!

  • that's awesome! where would the human race be without filters?

  • Busy trying to invent it I guess.

  • can you do this just with the little phatty? or are you using a looper aswell?

  • how do you make it repeat the sounds like that?

  • Its almost right but there are is problem with some of the notes, good LFO tweaking though.

  • nice. a classic indeed. (although i think i like "any colour you like" a little better...)

  • listen to all the little bitches: you got this note wrong, bladdy blah. use this do that. shut up people. this is first class stuff.

  • @arabthestab i know whays the deal everyone trys to sound like they are perfect lets pick out every little flaw lame and waist of time

  • Ya think?

  • What the fuck is progressive rock?

  • dude that was amazing. what computer software are u using?

  • Read the credits at the end...

  • Is there a sequencer built in or are you using an additional piece of hardware?

  • The first note is E

  • One of the notes is wrong, the lowest one....cool sounds though.

  • Firsts notes are wrong :S

  • the lowest interval in the sequencer should be a whole step, not a half step.

  • nice! did you hear the song of Colosseum - Dark side of the moog? you must hear it. great moog playing!

  • Yes, indeed. Anyway... you may be disappointed but I don't like progressive rock very much...

  • Yes they are.

  • fuck off man, go away and try make something nearly 1 percent as good as dark side of the moon.

  • pull yer panties outta yer crack.. I never said I didnt like the floyd. I'm a huge floyd fan and a huge DSOTM fan. Just dont think the Flkoyd are "PROG" Like I said I would call them space rock. THey were a blues/jazz/rock/folk outfit who happened to own a bunch cool synths and work with some great producers. Great stuff. So get off your platform cuz no one is gonna listen..

  • fair enough. not gonna argue with ya fella. anyway nice video.

  • no problem man.. Sorry if I went off but its impossible to make a comment on youtube without people misinterpreting it. But seriously I love Pink Floyd. I have even had the privilege of speaking with Alan Parsons about the production of DSOTM and Atom Heart Mother. Great stuff.

  • I Agree With you ... but they had some flirting with prog in some musics.

  • it's been 35 years and this song still rocking all the world... this is the difference between an average rock band and to be a perfect and amazing band like Pink Floyd

  • well done! it sounds good

but please check the notes! you're not right!!!

  • Anyone know how the repeat is happening? I just got an LP, and know no way of repeating/delay for a given phrase...

  • He's using the computer to emulate an analogue sequencer.

  • Sorry, i not speek eglish. Please, i have LP to, do you tellme how presets or controls to do you music? Tanks

  • Cool sounds on the Little Phatty. I used a Roland JX-3P on my version of On The Run...check it out.

    Capt Whizzo

  • whats the difference between the stage and the tribute?

  • exterior, not more than that

  • It looks like you have a stage, but with wood side panels?

  • Lol, yes answer that one Gattobus, i'm interested

  • i want one of those but there to expensive

  • just played with this at the store today. I want one :(

  • Man, I love this song!! You did a good job on it.

    5/5 for effort! :D

  • nice sounds. work the filter EG's attack & decay a bit more to get the "thwip" sound variations

  • Wrong notes IMHO. Its a G after A, not G#.

  • Oops, you're right...

but that's the only one that is wrong after all...

    ...forgive me Roger...
