Overseas assignment - 1981, a woman caught my eye - and with time, my heart as well - while this song constantly playing within. But that was forbidden territory. Nevertheless, I still missed her like crazy after I left. Neglected loveliness is my only clue and coupled with extreme grace and sweetness is the best description of her I can give. . . I pray she's doing well.
1981: Summers in Sandpoint Idaho!!!! I never did see the vid and when surfing old 1980's tunes this came up. As a canuck our entire family journied from Lethbridge to Sandpoint every summer... Great mix ....memorable tunes, american hospitality, awesome beach babes down at city beach and a hot Ford Pinto.......those were the days. Thanks for posting!!
Sandpoint Idaho, yes, a beautiful place indeed. I was living in Spokane for 15 years and my gf at the time was from Sandpoint, we go back there for the Sandpoint Jazz Festival every year. Those were the days.
I remember George playing that keyboard with a lever that stuck out of the top of it that altered the pitch in a very radical way when he pushed it !!
This song takes me back to July 1981 when I was in basic training for the Air Force. I had broken up with my girlfriend before I left and I really hadn't thought much about her, then one night when I was was on guard duty someone had a radio and this song came on. Needless to say, the rest of basic training was terrible because this song and my ex stayed on my mind. Big George really cranked this one. This is a very good song.
@Terryman1960 All for the best, military and young love doesn't mix. I just started my navy life about the same time you did and this happened to be one of favorite albums at the time.
@rzombi666 I feel you, but you know they don't sing about young love, first love for nothing. Though she and I never did get back together, my choosing. We do keep ion touch, she is my sister in Christ as I am now a Pastor and she's a Minister, but I do think back to the old days when I hear this song.
George, as I posted before....I hope your career is never over just set aside for future generations to enjoy. Your music, especially this song, has brought me great joy and I am forever grateful!!!! Best Wishes, always
Finding this video sure takes me back. 30 years ago playing this song in our cover band "Strangelove" Always loved when this tune came up on our song list. George had such a sweet falsetto, too bad he's too old to find that tone now... but hey, the years do take some things away. Love to you always George...
A timeless classic! I remember buying this on 45 and literally wearing the groves out of it since I played the record over and over again. Where did 30 years go?
This song me reminds me of my crush a couple of years ago, we both loved this song and so everytime I listen or hear this song, I remember her, too bad we're not meant for one another...
This song remindsm of the sweetes girl I had and will ever have Dorita!!! I still love you may God bless you and find someone who can love you the way you deserve! Corleone
I can hardly believe I am hearing this song again...so long ago...memories( bittersweet).of my first love.....I always said this was "our" song. My how life does change..long divorced from that first love..... uh...and GLAD, I might add :)
This song demonstrates the simpliest way of expressing love to someone special--They don't make love songs like this anymore. Thanks for posting this video.
