if u have stock engine and u buy best NGK spark plugs would u have a problem because after i put new best NGK spark plugs i can buy for my car 98 dodge avenger it ran perfect for a few days and i went outside to tint my windows i left the car on.. it was not idleing but completely on.. and had my door open.. turned the car off.. came back about 1 hour later and my car cranks.. but will not turn on? anyone know what the problem is.. i also put 98 octain fuel in it?
@ssupraguy i have no idea about Dodge, we dont have many here. i can think of atleast a dozen problems it could be, or i might be somthing else, but start with fuel, than spark, than electrical issues.
Some mechanic diagnosed my car as having a blown gasket. I fix it myself using a manual. I finished, turned it on and it is still misfireing. This mechanic had supposedly done a tune up 1.5 earlier. Do you think he misdiagnosed it? or trying to pull my leg and get more money out of me by lying and saying it was blown gasket?... My car misfires when I turn it on. If I step on the gas, it stops shaking and making noises. Do you think it could be the spark plugs or something??? Thanks.
what are your experiences with the denso/champions/ngk/bosch plugs? Is it more so longevity with the Denso ones?
Is it possible for the car to run fine yet still misfire? As what happened on my 01 hyundai accent is one of the leads, the terminal came out! I tried to prop it back in and after a few days it started misfiring, loud ticking. Have changed new leads/spark plugs but I think the "ticking" has reduced but still there.
@ayske1 Denso is my favorite plug, ive never had a denso plug fail. the ticking you heard was indeed the spark arcing across an earth point (it is the easy path rather than firing in compression). on most fuel injected cars you will always hear a ticking as the fuel injectors open and close. also any car with hydrolic lifters will usually tic to some degree. the loud arcing noise is very distnct and as you no longer hear it, im guessing you fixed the problem.
@ayske1 If its still missfiring under load, and you have changed the plugs and leads, its usually only 1 of 3 things, coil pack, injectors or low fuel pressure (check filter and do a flow/pressure test) or least likley is a faulty knock sensor retarding the timing
nice camera work!! you mentioned the truck had set for sometime? do you have access to seafoam or Marvel mystery oil for your fuel system and or your oil system?
stuff works wonders...directions are on the bottle..keep up the great work and Thank you
