  • Great combo those two ..BUT i would add "The Duel" as a bonus feature.

  • Oh, I wish this double feature return to the theater near ME! Here in my country people don't like good movies. It's so sad :(

  • what a gr8 double bill, i'll bet the cinemas smelled of POT & old jizz. xD

  • I wish sumone would do a remake of Dirty Mary,Crazy Larry,,,i didnt care for the remake of Vanishing Point although i have both classics in my vault, also i would really love too see a remake of my all time favorite The Gumball Rally!

  • Takes a Mopar to catch a Mopar

  • A bit of trivia for Y'all, Did anyone know that Bruce Dern almost played Kowalski instead of Barry Newman. Another awesome Barry Newman car chase flick is "Fear is the Key" (approx 1972). In which there is about 30 minutes of car chase starring a Red '72 big block Sport Torino. Just like Clints Gran Torino.

  • @doacarnage

He also played Petrocceli the tv lawyer .

  • Gotta love the Mopars!

  • VP has a more true to life story line, but DMCL still have the better car, that charger will remain my all time fav, has been since the movies were released,

I was 10 years old and I was there for the ooener :-) have both films in my car movie collection as well.

  • VP has a more true to life story? Really? A story about a Vietnam veteran, former copofficer, former race car driver, and motorcycle racer? A blind DJ who seems to see and hear Kowalski?

Don't get me wrong, it's a great film, but NOT because it's 'true to life', but more because it's a commentary, more a kind of existentialistic view of one man's life.

  • @broadjumper1 VP was regarded as one of those post-psychodelic, meaningless 1970s films. The film maker intended to do on film what Jazz trumpeter Miles Davis did with jazz in the late 1950s. VP was the "modal" form of film making. . in so much as there really wasn't a beginning or an end. The movie just kind of drifts along with no real point whatsoever.

  • @rayjr62 - Meaningless? Hardly. You could claim there's a nihilistic tone to it, but that doesn't make it meaningless or pointless. And I don't see the comparison to any of Davis' periods either because each phase of his career had specific styles and influences as well as experiments. As for VP, the movie was full of symbolism and had some existential and esoteric ideas, but it wasn't pointless. Difficult to understand, not pointless...

  • i havn't seen this movie is it any good? plz comment fast

  • If you like chase films, they are highly recomended. DMCL was pretty silly and simplistic but vanishing point felt more genuine and it's message was definetly more cryptic.

  • If you like fast cars and crazy chases, these are both good flicks..

  • That would be a heck of a double feature for sure.

  • I was 10 yr, 1975 at Clinton Iowa drive in, I was there for these movies, it was great,

Still two of my Fav car movies today.

  • That was made in Linden, Ca. I live there. Surprisingly it's known for something.

  • Two classics. When they remade Vanishing Point the changes they made made me wanna puke.

  • You got that right. The 1971 movie was one of the best road movies ever. The remake had a great car but that's where it stopped. I bought the movie and was so bad I couldn't finish watching it.

  • I agree that the remake of Vanishing Point sucked, but it makes me wonder if they ever were to remake DMCL, who would get the parts..

Peter Fonda = Leo Dicaprio/ Christian Bale?

Adam Roarke = Robert Downey Jr.?

    Susan George = Heather Graham?

    Vic Morrow = Harvey Keitel?

I'd love to see Quentin Tarantino take a shot at it...

  • Not sure I'd like to see a remake of of DMCL, after the butchering and stupidness of the remake of VP..... that was sickening if you ask me.

But yeah, who would be best for the parts...

  • Part of VP's problem was that it was a made-for-TV flick, but under the right directing, casting, and with the right screenplay, it could be remade well. the problem is that most Hollywood studios won't make the effort or go to the expense to do it right.

Spielberg made a great suspense film with 'Duel', George Lucas has a sensibility for muscle cars, and Tarantino definitely could make a quality remake.

  • Freaking awesome. Man, I would have loved to seen this double feature. You kind of think that these films only got re-discovered in the 1990s or so, but apparently they had enough of a cult for them to warrant a re-release even back in the '70s. Together, no less!

  • Vanishing Point is a million times better.

  • The 2 best car chase films EVER!

  • Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger R/T kick ass... Go Mopar!

  • Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger R/T rules!!! Go Mopar!!!

  • wow, Im actually doing a double feature of this tommorow night

  • that would have been a great double bill to see!

  • Rare..Very rare!

  • now that is a rare commercial
