No, I'm almost certain it is "begged". When you hear the next line that uses it again, you can really hear the "g" sound.

By lines like "If I knew what was good for me..." its clear that it is beg because she is struggling with what she wants: asking for sunshine and then begging for rain, she doesnt know.
