Really like this band, Love The song. Brendan Bayliss sucks at singing. Really, thats one of the major problems with Jam Bands - shitty singers. great musicians, though. I wish some of them would either get singers, or sing songs in their range.

@Funkenstein256 dude think about this, brendan is signing through a regular mic, when you listen to a studio recording of a song you are listening to the artists vocals post mixing so they sound much much better. And jam band musicians are usually too focused on playing ridiculous music to sing to their full capacity

I love phish and I love umphreys but i feel they are completely diffrent bands there styles are so diffrent with phish i get a mellow funky mood and trey absoultely melts my face off and then with umphreys my face gets melted just as much but i feel alotta ther jams are gettin more an more electro. kinda minus the laptops anyway just dont compare the 2 there both great and diffrent styles

I don't care if they didn't write the lyrics. Frank Sinatra didn't write 99 percent of the lyrics he sang. Not writing the lyrics didn't keep him from singing in tune. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Musically I think Ump rocks! Have never been too keen on their vocals though. Still think they are a great band though and a lot of fun live. :)

I can't decide if I like UM better than Phish. I have , as probably some of you have, spent countless hours listening to these 2 bands. Now, when I listen to UM I am initially mind-fucked at jake's speed and how amazing the music sounds (and feels when you are at their shows). Although as i listen to the songs over and over, I realize that Phish is just more diverse in their jams. UM seems to build up too much, and after theyve climbed scales for a minute, they just drop back down to the chorus

@StashTheGumbo87 Jesus Christ stashthegumbo mellow out. I think you need to compare the way UM covers a song to the way Phish covers one. Not saying Phish isn't talented, but the level of musicianship in Umphrey's is much higher imo. UM could probably cover any Phish song flawlessly, and i doubt you could argue that Phish could cover UM. I'm fans of both, but UM takes the cake for me.

@phishliveon Really you're using age as a determining factor? The only reason i haven't seen Phish is i haven't had the chance and i'm not made of money. I can also safely bet I've been to more concerts than you have (considering one of my jobs was being sent to concerts to review them) that my "Mommy and Daddy" have oh so graciously let me go to. I love Phish, but in my opinion they don't have the same musical prowess as UM. I may not be a phish expert but i'm allowed to have an opinion.
