"I can't tell you how lovely it is to kiss a beautiful women with your face covered in lard. It's just all slippy and slidy. And those Victorians knew, the dirty, DIRTY buggers"
It's amazing how much Xmas in Australia still shares with Victorian England. Remember; it's v hot here at Xmas but my family STILL has three roast meats, leg of ham, gravy, roast potatoes etc. Mince pies and the awful crackers with terrible jokes and hats too. Tho we are eating more salad and seafood now it has only been a recent change and for most old fashioned families it's traditional hot awful food like usual :(. We pretend it's winter and use fake snow! It's so dumb!
@RedRoosterRoad no, but it is an awful waste when summer is the time for fresh and healthy vibrant salads and particularly around that time of year the seafood is plentiful. Just very sad that we feel the need to copy other countries instead of making our own traditions with our own produce and culture. However, we need to remember theres ONLY been just over 100 xmases since then so it doesnt evolve and the dishes are really relics of times long gone. Roasts are favoured by the elderly here
From the other side of "the Pond," I really appreciate seeing this great series that we do not have in America. I will be showing "Supersizers go Victorian" to my Victorian Horror classes I teach. :-) Thanks.
The game pie was amusing.I remember my mother one christmas bought a brace of very well hung pheasants.Not only did these thing smell like a giant turd while cooking,they filled the entire house with a smell of shit.The pheasant also tasted like shit aswell as smelling of it.Mother made soup with the remains and that too stank like shit,the damn things hung around for a week and kept coming back again and again.Needless to say she was banned from having hung pheasants ever again!
@silver760 my dad is a hunter and brought home pheasant once your right is reeks but we did discover by accident i may add that pheasant jerkey is awesome with some teryaki sauce flavoring just thought id share :)

Funny how they're saying how Christmas dinner hasn't changed that much, because I'm Swedish and over here the things we serve at Christmas has changed a whole lot since the 19th century. (Also we had a Christmas goat delivering presents before we got Santa, a little pagan in our christinity, we were)
I want giles and sue to marry so bad!! who cares that she's gay... they have so much chemistry :D

@3122tan "hot awful food?!"
I understand that Australia is a very hot country and as such cooler foods are often used instead of hot dishes.
But I would hardly say; Roast beef, lamb, turkey or chicken was awful

07:52 if i'm not mistaken, Didn't Slade sing "Here it is Merry Christmas" as "I Wish it Could be Christmas Everyday" was sung by Wizard wasn't it?
