gOS Testing, the Google-focused Operating System

Why the hell would anyone need this OS? If you wanted one-click access to these applications, just put a shortcut on your desktop, taskbar, start menu or dock... which you could do on ANY OS.

oh really it was slow? Its one of the fastest OS i have made, you probably had an older computer and where Running Ubuntu in gnome, Ubuntu fails, and Gnome fails for older machines, if it is slow install XFCE, and most programs it does run smoothly and without flaw, and if it doesnt if you werent lazy you make it run flawlesly and smooth yo fucken self.

No it's no so much the slowness, it's the execution. I didn't know you made Linux. My laptop i had it on has an nVidia chipset with 512 didicated memory and my prossesor is 2.26 dualcore bought a year ago with 3 gigs of ram. So if it's shitty to you that's your opinion, because i certainly don't think so. I was using Redhat, then later switched to FedoraCore. Both failed with compatibility and overall performance.

lol i failed i ment to say ran sorry for that. ( hahaha im cracken up at that LOL ) But uh, sorry :( FedorCore and uh Redhat can not always be so user compatabil with drivers and what not, you gotta do stuff your self :D. If your a normal windows user, you should try open SUSE :D should be a little easier for you. ( nice computer by the way :D, dont care much for the ram but i like your prossesor :D )

Google is already in progress with a chrome based cloud OS, built on linux. Target towards net books. The operating system shown in the video is in no way legally associated with Google. gOS stands for 'good operating system'. This community of developers are who had decided to make a Ubuntu based operating targeted towards Google applications. Obviously you simply cannot appreciate the technical qualifications of a linux distribution such as this.

Dude.... gOS stands for 'Good Operating System'. The google OS is a chrome centered linux distro, with many cloud technologies. This and the still unreleased google OS are two TOTALLY unassociated things.

This would be good for a newbie to computers . I.E , your grandparents Lol But , IMO Ubuntu Does way more and is still fairly fast. But for those demanding Parents , go with GoS :)

gOS is not a version of Linux, it is a distribution. Linux is merely an operating system kernel upon which more software utilities, like a window manager and decorator and programs can be run on top of. A version of Linux would merely be named something like 2.6.30.

gOS is the Linux kernel with a certain combination of programs on top of it, mostly the ones that come with Ubuntu.

gOS is a theme.. It's based on Ubuntu version of Debian Linux, it is based on Enlightenment's window manager. It is at best a internet utility centric repackaging of open source applications.

Go check out puppy linux's pupplets.. They are much better if you are looking for out-of-box utility.

It's not hard to dual boot with Vista. Just be careful not to mess with the beginning of the Vista partition, or you'll have to repair a corrupted MBR.
