I personally think Amityville II, is the best in the series. It had a demon, a possession, a very messed up family, all get killed, an exorcism, and a fallen priest. Great movie, a bit piece of trash, but good trash. The killing scene is really scary to watch and I felt fear when I watched it many years ago. For those who want to watch a movie that doesn't follow strict Hollywood standards when it comes to horror, this is one. It gives you all that horror should. Damn Scary.

I agree this was the best of the films. The first one was interesting but had some very slooooow areas and basically relied on the "Boo!" scares for it's punches. Amityville II starts-off with a dark feeling of something evil, and as it moves along you realize this family has some serious stuff going on. As a viewer, you get the feeling you are actually caught-up in the story personally. Some people have freaked because of the incest scene, but that also is part of the movie's darkness.

@farmerne I know right? And your right about the original, it does drag but it does deliver the scare factor, until the dumb ending. But Amityville II, it is the one that stands alone as a true Horror movie. Movies based on hauntings are hit or missed when it comes to story telling. One thing it might have had was it was made in Mexico, and De Launrentis , so I guess that helped. But the trump card was Tommy Lee Wallace. And of course the Amityville true killings.

Well, for one thing the family priest SUCKS! for another demonic possession occurs in 4 stages; Temptation or Invitation which is when "the door" is opened to the evil influence this is followed by Infestation (lots of poltergeist activity) then comes Obsession which is when the victim's body is physically attacked and finally the actual physical possession

This movie skips the first two stages and jumps right into 3 and 4.

The movie is also based on the "Idiot Plot."
