I like a lot of Kate's music. Just recently heard about the new album and I saw a news site that had this new version of DU uploaded. I listened to it and must say I was pretty horrified at it. All in all, I think it's a pretty nifty idea to go back and rework some of your older songs. But if they all sound as badly as this one...I think I'll pass.
Have you listened to the Lily sample? The original Lily is one of my favorite Kate songs. The 30 second sample sounds pretty good. I just wish the whole thing would leak so I could really make up my mind.

Sensual World was a very beautiful album, but this reinterpretation of 'Deeper Understanding' sounds ridiculous, childish, and without charm. The 'Trio Bulgarka' are barely there, being deleted into oblivion. What a tragic shocker :(

@proto1type I agree - I can't believe how sloppy and generally crap this is. The original was beautiful but this sounds like it was produced by the work experience kid. Some people will assume it's just more evidence of her bold artistic genius but they'd probably say the same if she released a record of her blowing her nose or burping. She certainly was a genius and still a national treasure, but I think the golden years are long passed.

The thing is, I absolutely ADORE Kate Bush but it doesn't mean I must neccessarily agree with EVERYTHING she does. Kate is back! I haven't been this excited over an album release in such a long time. I'm pretty sure that when the single is released I will be playing it in a loop until the album comes out, or until my head explodes. Whichever comes first...

Can't make a judgement call from a 46 second excerpt, but it sounds good, something to chill out to before retiring for the night. Which is when I listen to most of my music nowadays being middle-aged and all! Still fond of the original though.

There is a lot more space in the mix of the song from that on the original album and sounds a lot more aerial-like. I like the original and love Kate but for me A Sky of Honey was so magical that any re-interpretation of older work which has that as its sonic template get my thumbs up big time.
@Rubberbandgirl76 Hi RBGirl... Mysterious little things appear and disappear in the digital world. The story goes that a swedish site listed the yet unknown tracks of the Directr's Cut album. The first song on that list carried the name was "flower of the mountain". From there it was told that it is The Sensual World reworked and woven with Molly Bloom's words from James Joyce's Ullyses. Or so it is told. But the tracklist went up and disappeared.
It definitely sounds more martial thanks to that annoying snare drum that insists on pushing its way to the front. I'd be curious to know why KB thought that this track needed reworking? I could pick a few dozen that might be improved with a second pass, but this wasn't one of them. Perhaps if she'd taken it in an entirely different direction, but the mood of this new cut sounds too much like the original. I love you Kate, but this is a pass.
Well someones got to say it, This is far better then the clip on amazon the other day... i think autotune would work on that bit of the song but it just sounded messy...

Can't make a judgement call from a 46 second excerpt, but it sounds good, something to chill out to before retiring for the night. Which is when I listen to most of my music nowadays being middle-aged and all! Still fond of the original though.

@ravettox The reason for the hype is that absolutely nothing has been heard of her since 2005 and the fact that know she is working on new material.
Fans are excited for anything she does because it happens so rarely.

There is a lot more space in the mix of the song from that on the original album and sounds a lot more aerial-like. I like the original and love Kate but for me A Sky of Honey was so magical that any re-interpretation of older work which has that as its sonic template get my thumbs up big time.

@Rubberbandgirl76 Hi RBGirl... Mysterious little things appear and disappear in the digital world. The story goes that a swedish site listed the yet unknown tracks of the Directr's Cut album. The first song on that list carried the name was "flower of the mountain". From there it was told that it is The Sensual World reworked and woven with Molly Bloom's words from James Joyce's Ullyses. Or so it is told. But the tracklist went up and disappeared.

It definitely sounds more martial thanks to that annoying snare drum that insists on pushing its way to the front. I'd be curious to know why KB thought that this track needed reworking? I could pick a few dozen that might be improved with a second pass, but this wasn't one of them. Perhaps if she'd taken it in an entirely different direction, but the mood of this new cut sounds too much like the original. I love you Kate, but this is a pass.

I love Kate's music and Aerial was a revelation. So hearing that a new album was coming out this year was very exciting news. Alas an album of re-works is very disappointing indeed.
