  • The Clash is way better! There's no competition

  • @magix1215 no. social distortion is liked way more than the clash. dont get me wrong the clash is good but social distortion has words of wisdom in every one of their songs.

  • @FixMyHead1 i didn't mean in terms of all around fame, but specifically this song. As it is true in most cases the original is better.

I like both bands and I never thought one was 'more famous' than the other. But the Clash is my personal favorite

  • Does anyone could make a video of this song with videos from the Lords of dogtown, it would be cool :P

  • I just saw this film, Lords of dogtown, and i didnt stop until found this performing of Death or glory.

    Fuk yeah

  • CLASSIC

  • lords of dogtown =D

  • @MrKeltset Fuck yeah!

  • nice cover

  • the best fucking cover

  • dubmeister55 where did you get this vid

  • God I don't know which one I prefer...each has its own deal. Gotta go with the clash though because it's Joe's words and Jones' melody...but Mike Ness rocks the shit out of this song and if I can't hear the clash (which I can't anymore) this is the only version I ever wanna hear...just another story..."every cheap hood" really? cant write this shit anymore. Where are these guys??? Damn:(:(

  • are you kidding me this is the best version

  • If this was the original I would still love this song... but sorry Social Distortion this version doesn't even come close to the original

  • Punk Rock saved my life

  • a good version realy.....

    but not the original

  • No, just no.

  • Lords of dogtown a touching film.

  • alright, great cover, and i love mike ness almost as much as shane macgowan! but seorslyy this wont ever even touch mr. joe strummer! sorryr

  • Honestly, I really like both versions.

  • awesome man they are great

  • I like the Clash Version better, I know you all wanted to know(sarcasm), but I think Social D's version of Ring of Fire is amazing and even though I like Johnny Cash( and his version of city of new Orleans is really good ) the Social D one is better than his version of ring of fire.

  • I like this one better because i like Mike's raspy voice.

    Personal preference.

  • @Muppio Strange comment, because I always thought Joe Strummer's voice was one of the best things about the Clash. One of those instantly-recognizable voices that can never be replicated. Not to mention some of the greatest backing vocal styles ever, courtesy of Mick Jones (and occasionally Paul Simonon). You'd think the Clash's voices would be the reason to prefer their version! LOL

  • @iwantcompletecontrol

    To each his/her own :-)

  • considering what a huge influance Joe and the Clash had on Mike

Ness, who better to cover anything they ever had done. Social D deserves to be respected for a job well done.

  • I love the Clash but I feel Social Distortion made one hell of an cover, I find myself listening to the cover more than the original

  • both versions are good, I actually like this one better. idiots that are saying this sucks and the original is better... its all in the eye of the beholder. dont listen if you dont like it. ugh, children.

  • sure the ramones had too tell the them too to get the balls aand go out and play lol

  • the clash are fuckin rubbish even the ramones sat around and laughed at them they were punk for one album get a grip u swear they were heroes them and the fuckin sex pistols are a waste of space :L

  • @anarchysham1 ya the sex pistols were basically useless and the clash were only punk for one album, and that is why in my opinion they were so good, they started picking up influences from places they were touring instead of just sticking to some formulaic think over and over.

  • @Parley454 shit always had the punk spirit though, you cant deny that

  • the original is much better

  • *insert some comment about how the clash are better* who gives a shit? music is music, and i personally like this version more. and if you dont, there's the original to the right of the screen. quit your bitching and listen to music.

  • THIS SHIT SUCKS I CAN'T STAND THIS FUCKING VERSION/ VOMIT VERSION ONE SONG THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE COVERED THIS HOMOSEXUALLY

  • The Clash is the original, therefore, it is better.

  • I love social d, but this is a very tepid version of the fiery, incandescent original by the Clash. Social Distortion is much better at doing rave-ups of country songs.

  • back in the 70s the clash could sing that he who fuck nuns and now this gets censored fuck off

  • Omg even though this cover is awesome being that it's on the lords of dogtown album, who actually asks who the clash are!! :O

    There legendary in music!!! xD

  • RDBeatnick you know I love Social D and the clash both and really can judge people because they love a great song only played by different band that is still amazing

  • the clash aren't better than social d, social d aren't better than the clash.

it all comes down to personal preference.

imo both bands have contributed great things to punk.

  • This rocks hard but Clash did it better

  • i like the Clash, but they dont even come close to Social D!

  • this is at least as good as the original, and this is coming from a hardcore Clash fan. absolutely amazing <3

  • these guys wanna sneak up on the Clash as my favorite. Social Distortion raise a lotta hell!

  • love social d.. but clash is where its at

  • EA Skate :D

  • The clash version better

  • social motherfukin gets down!

  • " I believe in this and its been tested by research: he who FUCKS! nuns will later join the church"... Gimme artistic FREEDOM OR GIVE ME DEATH!!

  • not the original... >.<

  • It's sad this cover has more views than the original from The Only Band That Matters.

  • @RDBeatnik I love the Clash, but its not like this is a cover by fuckin' Bon Jovi or something. To me your complaint would be like worrying about the Clash's versions of "I fought the law", "police and thieves", or "pressure drop" having more views than their originals. Besides, this version is newer and YouTube's a convenient place to hear it. I mean everyones got fuckin' London Calling...

  • @RDBeatnik maybe it's cus the original isn't available in all countries. i live in germany and i can't find it. thank god i own the album.

  • @RDBeatnik oh i see what you did there! =]

  • @RDBeatnik This cover is way better than the original.

  • @PieIsAwzum i don't think so. the original vocals were better, especially with the little harmony in each verse's 2nd half. and i don't like how he shifts the singing tempo around. it's unnecessary and frankly it makes everybody seem full of himself.

  • I fucking love Lords of Dogtown, and I fucking loved this song jaja :D

  • no this song was written by elton john and tupac, they schemed to kill biggie, then killed him. now they are both on the run to fight their enemies

  • COOL SONG!!!

  • Yea Lords of Dogtown FTW!!

  • what album was this on?

  • @adeadlysinner1 Recordings Between Then And Now

  • who are the sex pistols?

  • All you hipsters can say whatever you want, but i know that this thge only cover is way better than the original. i dare you to prove me wrong.

  • @AdamParedesM social distortions version is great, but without the clash you would not have this cover... and the original by far was better in its own way... i guess it'd depend on which version you loved first...

  • @dualityofmen22 i agree, the original is better in it's own way, but this version has more staying power. no offense to the clash, they are awesome.

  • In my opinion Punk bands are tiered in their awesomeness. From incredibly, rediculously amazing to total shit. with each one a little worse than the last in this order The Clash (F*KING AMAZING) , Social D (alright), Green Day (sometimes good, sometimes totally shitty), and the worst. Sex Pistols. (yeah, they were the face of punk, but they are also the asshole of punk.)

  • @Porojukaha sex pistols are ten fucking times better than the clash green day or social distortion i like social distortion but the sex pistols are a way better and cooler band than any of them

  • @hillelslovakrip you must not have ears....the sex pistols sound like shit. Even critics and even their MANAGER agreed. Their manager once said that they were all image. They had no talent whatsoever. Sid Vicious is the epitome of that kind of marketing.

  • @Porojukaha if you knew shit about the sex pistols you would know sid vicious didnt write shit or even know how to play bass he was there for the whole punk image but everyone else in my opinion sounded good and you would also know malcom mclauren was a fucking stingy prick who didnt give a shit about the band. its not my fault your ears cant handle a heavy sound like the sex pistols try it out some time you fucking clash loving pussy

  • @hillelslovakrip "'n' every gimmick hungry yob digging gold from rock 'n' roll, Grabs the mike to tell us he'll die before he's sold..." that's what sex pistols were about, getting money from the punk image, they have only 1 album, it got into history and it's fuckin awesome, but that was it, then they come back on tour to raise cash for their lazy asses. the clash probably did more musicaly for punk rock than any other band and social d is here for 3 decades rockin out. period. get over sid.

  • @rafaguimaandrade thats cute you quoted a song. the sex pistols had a punk image before punk was punk dude they werent worried about making money they were just doing it how they wanted to do it which is probably the most punk attitude possible. the clash arent even punk they sound fuckin alternative.so suck my dick by the way i always thought sid was a douche i like johnny thats the reason i like the band so much cause his voice is distinct and different

  • @hillelslovakrip do you even know the history of the sex pistols? they were formed to advertise a fucking a clothing store.

  • @squirreled yeh i read johnnys biography and it wasnt to advertise it they just adopted the name

  • @hillelslovakrip you're a way bigger douche than sid vicious. don't even wanna waste my time with ya... good day buddy!

  • Lords of Dogtown is amazing movie, i love it! And Heath Ledger is the BEST <3 Love this song too :)

  • great cover!!! social distortion style... like the american version of a brit song

  • @andrewbwerner Always Better Bud..

  • great story

  • death or glory for skateing means go big or die nowadays its either your passion and profession or its not so pick it....

  • its the loser song .originalis good

  • Of course to me the The Clash original is better because I prefer Joe Strummers singing over Ness' at least a bit. This is an adorable cover nontheless.

  • @derkleinenatz3 i dont know if i like strummers voice more than mikes BUT.the clash version is a classic

  • I had no idea that Social D covered this amazing Clash song. Brilliant, brilliant stuff. Funny - I've never heard Ness play this live. Any Social D freaks out there know if he ever does it?

  • why is there 3 more minutes or so of nothing lol

  • @ aaronwanker1 he who fucks nuns will later join the chuech. This is a remake of the clash song on London Burning; the clean version is the only one available

  • this is way better than the other versions

  • @jackrocks1231001 youe a stupid fuck the clash is the best

  • finally i find the actual song and not a horrible cover by some dude in his living room.

  • Love This Song !!!!!

  • DEY WOR EHT OUT FER MEEH )':

  • The people who dislikes this song can suck a cock

  • whoever disliked this dont lik covers of the clash or dont like punk.

  • Covers are either "hit or miss"..This is one of those that certainly is a HIT!!..Mike really did justice in honoring this classic Clash tune!

  • SD is the only band who could cover the Clash with style!!

  • @whereislucky you're forgetting the Dropkick Murphys... check out their covers of Guns Of Brixton or White Riot. Or Rancid's cover of Cheat.

  • My boy Ness... 20 years of listening pleasure... AND counting

  • Tune! Dog town for days

  • i think the clashs version is better, but this is a good cover

  • 23 people just searched justin bieber

  • IM TOTALLY GOING T GO SEE SOCIAL DISTORTION ON THE 18TH OF THIS MONTH (novermber)!!!!!!!!

  • Bullshit sensory - the clash could say fuck nuns back in the day and these fools get almost 300000 views on this 'safe for the kids version'

  • @xxxkilla37 actually there very much is an uncensored version. it's uncensored on the Dogtown soundtrack. So. No need to be an asshole about it.

  • @aaronwanker1 AND SOMEONE PLLZZZZZ UPLOAD THE SONG SOMETIMES I DO.... album version..

  • @aaronwanker1 i was just about to say that,..but you said it all so...

  • @aaronwanker1 i dont think there is another version >.>

  • @aaronwanker1 why dont you upload the uncensored version since you are bitching about it

  • @ZackyT5 "Would somebody FIND the uncensored version?" Obviously because he can't find it.

  • @aaronwanker1 check the clash, joe strummer, duh

  • @aaronwanker1 And you know Mike Ness would fucking SCREAM it like he does "Fuck" in the other songs. It's even censored in the movie credits. I was disappointed.

  • @aaronwanker1 it's 2x funnier that way though, cuz wtf is "nunning"?

  • @aaronwanker1 I think you mean FOR ..... SAKE

  • @aaronwanker1 idiot

  • The Clash is amazing, and Social Distortion did a great job on this song too!

  • Skate 2!!!

  • Great cover of an amazing song

  • This song is awesome. I can't think of a song that has two versions that are both this good. Social D does it justice, and Mike Ness adds just enough of his own style to make it great.

  • id say it's not bad a bit like metalicas take on whiskey in the jar vocaly

    musicly it's well not bad

  • for the z-boyz lords of dogtown

  • thanks 4 the post

  • frigin kool

  • lords of dogtown, best film ever :)

  • i like this one better than the clashes version. i was never a big clash fan, they have a few good songs, but i dont really like them that much at all

  • @bloodrain744 FAIL. May the devil not have mercy on ur soul. (just kidding but thats fuckin mental)

  • @nanku42 im entitled to my opinion :/ i like the clashes version a lot too, just not as much as this one though

  • @negev3000 The best skate movie ever!

  • @tekman60001 Gleaming The Cube is the best skate movie ever!

  • social distortion always does a great job of covering songs and putting their own sound on them while still not straying too far from the original

  • I love The Clash and Social D too

Its not about which version is better its about a great band like SD paid a tribute to one of the greatest bands ever.

    enjoy the song brow.

I´m going to the Social D show today =] first time in Brazil Here Igo (with my clash t-shirt) 17/04/2010
