@Charliem1016 Go to Soul Survivor 2012. It is truly the best thing I have ever done. I have been twice now, and thanks to Soul Survivor I am getting baptised soon. I regret not doing it sooner. Even if you don't enjoy, at least you tried. God Bless! :D
@floak123 me too! i've never done that before... it was at the 'when we arrive at eternity's shore' bit! Such a powerful song. I really want to try and live for God so much more!
@HayleyDawnluvsyhuu2x Haha thank you, It really has been, I have been constantly happy so far which is strange for me as i suffer from bi-polar disorder but yeah everything has been great!! Week B was so good!! I am missing it so much how about you?
Few weeks ago was working on new wine LSE at club one. When they played this one all I could see was a sea of hands in the air. Everyone there was just praising God. It was awesome.
I just heard this song at a concert thingie and wow..its amazing...and so wow..thank you so much..i'm so glad I was able to find it cuz I had no idea who sang this one...thank you!
"I see you there hanging on a tree, you bled and then you died and then you rose again for me" I am forever sealed in his hand..all because of his work on the cross. incredible
this song nearly makes me cry every time I hear it! Soul Survivor was so powerful and brought me back from the virge of losing my faith God is so amazing!
<3 love love love =D I was here when this was recorded and it brings back memories of a week that helped me and this song had a massive impact on me and made me the person i am today. Thankyou Jamie, Thankyou Ucle Draken <3
Clearly - but what I'm saying is that God, and His beautiful creation, are done more credit by by valuing them as they really are rather than as we wished they were. There's plenty of beauty up there without needing to invent things, whether through design or ignorance. And I'm not criticising God for making galaxies faint - far from it. I'm saying we should be celebrating things as He has made them.
Yeah - it's not a big deal. I just can't help thinking that God made the galaxies, and He chose to make them in a way that means they appear faint to us here on earth. And to pretend otherwise is almost like belittling the real universe that God has made, in favour of a pretend one of our own that we think would be nicer.
@dsberry22 The lyrics, 'The planets are in motion and galaxies are bright' are basically there to say how beautiful the whole universe is. Somehow I don't think 'The planets are in motion and Alpha Centauri is bright' really works, if you see what I mean?
I also think it's unfair to say, 'He chose to make them in a way that means they appear faint to us' because he put SO MUCH in the universe that we can see. And it's great we get to discover new things every time we build a bigger telescope!
@dsberry22 yeah you know what, even if they may appear faint to us we can still see them from that massive distance between us, there isn't much else we could see that far away, so it's pretty incredible and the fact we can see them at all is properly impressive. It's hardly a pretend world either is it, you're world is that of text books and what you read, others is of what nature holds other is about religion, everyones world is different so you can't say it's pretend it's someones perspective
The statement "galaxies appear bright to the naked eye" is either true or false - regardless of anyone's perspective. I'm talking about pretending something is true when it's clearly not true. Don't get me wrong - the night sky is awesome and majestic. It always has drawn people to God and always will. To be at one of the world's professional observatory sites in the middle of the night and to see the stars such as you never see them from England is an experience no book or photo can capture
@dsberry22 To be picky, 'bright' isn't a fixed measurement, it's comparative. Almost nothing is bright compared to the Sun (and that's only due to it's distance from us). The galaxies could be bright compared to the darkness? Or when looking through the Hubble?
Saying that, I feel like I've been drawn into a debate that's pretty irrelevant. :/
@UncleDraken You're right - it's comparative. But galaxies are faint, faint, faint to us compared even to visible stars, let alone the Moon, and not even mentioning the Sun. Regarding "irrelevant" - true , it's a forgivable inaccuracy probably born of not actually having looked at the night sky very much. Clearly I understand what the lyrics are trying to say. But it appears bad to non-Christians when our songs have obvious errors in them - it could suggest we're not bothered about reality.
"Galaxies are bright" ?? Sound's nice, but 'fraid it's not true. Galaxies are notoriously faint - there's only one that you stand any chance at all of seeing without binoculars, and even then it's only a faint smudge. Is poetry or worship affected by factual errors? (PS - but planet's *do* move, so that's OK)
@dsberry22 But they're bright against the black space when you're using binoculars or more likely a telescope... Either way, does it really matter? It's a great song for a greater God!
Can you really put your heart into singing something you know is not true? It smacks of living in a world of wishful thinking - "wouldn't it be nice if...". Christianity gets accused of this enough as it is! PS. Even with a big telescope the brightest galaxies appear as nothing more than a smudge to the eye. You need to use a long exposure on a camera (attached to a telescope) to see anything more. The problem is people are so used to seeing impressive pictures from the HST and things.
@dsberry22 I don't think it matters. By the sound of what you're saying, the only reason it doesn't seem so bright is because it's so far away. Most people don't even know what a galaxy is, just something huge and pretty in space. Like you say, people are used to seeing those great pictures from the HST. It doesn't bother me, mostly because this piece of the song means more than just the literal words.
souls survivor b 2010 was incredible but what would make it even better is if we carry on those feelings and that intense love for god into our real lives xx
