Although it was made-to-measure the most unique part of the bike was the paint job they did, and it seems that Trek were more worried about having the bike painted in time than having a new one

I've had 18 stolen. And my primary means of transportation. Lance's bike was worth several thousand dollars, making the theft a felony. With the "livestrong" and the distinctive markings, I don't think anyone would be able to pawn it without the pawnbroker asking a bunch of questions and suspecting theft. If a homeless bum were to ride Lance's bike, or if it were used as a getaway vehicle from a robbery, it would get noticed.

my bike was a piece of shits. the guy that stole it brought it back to me and he was all bandaged up. he fell off because it was unridable. he said "look i don't need this shit" he even paid me to take it back. i'll never forget that day.
