The only reason these kids really did something that incredible is because they were born in old time periods.Where the internet,Xbox,Ps3, and all those things weren't invented yet. So all they could do in their homes is to improve something that actually matters. You can't expect a average kid at this generation to stop and do stuff like learn to play piano,guitar, and so on, unless of course is their passion.
