Sorry to hear about this Stef. Too bad it's politically incorrect to suggest that parents should not mentally/physically abuse..oh way sorry, "discipline" their children.
Also, if it's not too much trouble, is the show in which this man called in (the son of the politician) available? I've been searching for it, but I'm not really sure what to search for. I'd like to listen to the original conversation.
I all honesty, it took me about 15 minutes of real searching to even find out what 'DeFOOing' was even about. Literally! I was frustrated I couldn't just find a simple explanation and took me a while to find posts and listening through podcasts to find out.
Stef, I want you to know that your videos and material have helped me save myself. Very few people in the history of the world have managed to be such great human beings.
God bless you peace. Regarding the politician Jezebel hunting her escaped son down at any cost. She accuses others for what she has done to her son.
All evil when exposed (caught red handed) for that evil takes retribution upon the light exposing the wrongs, oppressions and evil that the accuser actually did.
i listen to this all the time and i dont kill people and i dont attack my family. hell if stefan told me to go out and fight violently with a gun to support him and his veiws. i would say fuck u and walk away. i dont serve him i dont even believe everything he says i just listen and then debate with myself. not like i follow him like a cult leader. me personally just listen... so i dont kill my family. so fuck the media just trying to bring great minds down.
Sounds like a cheap slander attempt but interesting to show power over mainstream media flex like that.
There is some major political feathers being fluffed by your personal approach. Mind you if I was dependent upon the sheeple for the payment of taxes for a billion dollar plunder, I'd probably want to diversify with your State Is Dead out there. Good luck!
Right around 2:10 into this video Molyneux claims Freedomain Radio is a completely free philosophy website. This is a blatant lie.
I registered and was posting on the forums. Molyneux banned my account, for absolutely no reason. I was not abusive or offensive in any way. The best I can figure is that I was argumentative and didn't unquestioningly accept Molyneux's various assertions. So...I was banned.
Stefan: I expect when you get around to it you'll delete this comment. Free? I think not.
I believe you miss the point that FDR is a private institution and therefore he can do whatever he wants, especially since you pay nothing for it. You had no obligations to be on the site, and he has no obligations for letting you on.
@dashxdr: Molyneux banned my account, for absolutely no reason.
I am surprised you spend time at FDR. According to your YouTube profile, you dislike liberty and libertarians. You appear to me as a trouble maker. I have never seen a socialist who is coherent.
Interesting that you could be so hopelessly clueless as to form the ridiculous idea that I dislike liberty. Or that I'm a socialist.
Anarchy is the purest form of freedom. It's the precise opposite of socialism. I favor anarchy. Stefan calls it stateless society. Same thing. It's libertarianism to the extreme. No government at all.
complete BS... just because stefan posts his ideas on a website, I think the government doesn't want people to realize the truth that stefan told...so they use the media to try to make people to stop viewing him.
The governments number one weapon after all...is the media.
Stef did not discover an objective theory of morality- Ayn Rand did that. Nevertheless, he appears to be a very good communicator of the merits of philosophy. I can understand the connection to "cults" because the standards of objectivism are absolute. Those that disagree are "immoral". In this sense, objectivism is no different from organized religion because the person who "created" the system would be elevated in the eyes of the believers. The same thing happened w/ the followers of Rand.
Both FDR and Objectivist movement are not at all like religions. Why? Because they have no hierachy, organisations controlling their believers, etc. There is no such thing as "FDR Church", you know.
Don't worry about it too much Stefbot. The Daily Mail is only a tabloid rag and the Guardian is a paper run by champagne socialists for champagne socialists.
Take any insults from them as mere free publicity.
So the MSM imply s that Freedomain Radio is a cult among other things. This is a surprise? So Stef has become large + radical enough to become a target. Congrats Stef
What I think is really messed up about all this is that people are justifying child abuse. I not a moral expert but I think we can all agree that abusing a child is wrong.
Keep up the good work Stef, I think your best stuff has always been around the family.
I think just about everyone out there who had read the articles needed this wise and insightful show. As one can see by the comments there are many out there who have found FDR a wonderful website after finding out about it through the media! Which I think is just fabulous!
You also mention in this video that you never told this young man that he should leave his parents. But in the podcast you called his father 'the devil' and said that Tom's mother 'created him for the devil' and you also said that you tell people to ditch their parents if they are evil. This was all before the young man mentioned wanting to leave home.
I absolutely do say that it is neither productive nor wise to have evil people in your life - do you think that this is controversial? I do argue it is worth trying to repair and improve relations even with abusive parents, as this young man did. As an atheist, I use the word 'devil' metaphorically, to describe the long-term and terrible abuse of power, which was certainly the case in this tragic matter.
Few people would disagree with those first 3 sentences. Your use of the term 'devil' is what is controversial for this particular point because the devil is evil (if anything) and you tell the young man that you tell people to ditch their parents if they are evil. Hence you told the young man to ditch his parents. Hence what you say in this video is not true.
The evils of child abuse can be reversed by better behaviour, which is always to be hoped for. The evil was in the past, and the hope always remains that better behaviour can be achieved and maintained in the future. Thus my argument, genereally: "I believe that what your father did was immoral, and I suggest that you need to try to work things out with your family, to achieve better relations. Of course, if the evil continues, you are free to take a break." Would you disagree with any of this?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Not at all. But that is not what you said/implied in the podcast, so I'm unsure what point your trying to make. You didn't suggest the young man talk about things with his parents. You called his father the devil (and much more) and said his mother knowingly created him for the devil and that the young man knew this deep down already and that you don't need confirmation for this theory. And you told him that you tell people with evil parents to ditch 'em. Ergo, you told him to ditch his parents.
Sigh. As I clearly state in the video, the young man reports that he had read my book on relationships, where I talk about the need to get therapy and try to work things out with family - which is what he did. There was no need to repeat that, since he alreay knew it. Of course if parents will not change their immoral actions, I suggest taking a break - I totally stand by that.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Sigh? Why sigh? Anyway, do you then admit or deny that you did tell the young man to ditch his parents and - as a consequence - that what you say in this video and elsewhere is not true? That's the sole point I'm trying to make and the one you have not addressed yet in your 3 responses.

So does that mean that you deny having said - before the young man ever mentioned such a thing - that his father is the devil and that his mother created him for the devil, and that you tell people to ditch their parents if they're evil? if that is not what you mean, then I don't yet understand what you make of these quotes: do they not say/directly imply that the young man should ditch his parents? P.S. I'll be happy to comment on the quotes you use in this video to support your case.
It is interesting of course that the only thing that appears to arouse your moral indignation in this tragedy is my words, you have not mentioned any moral problems you might have with the terrible abuse the young man suffered for 18 years. I think that says it all about your concern with 'ethics'... :(

Man Stef you're sounding more and more like a religious nut with your constant cries of 'thats immoral!' Not to mention the free will crap. Rational materialist my ass. You are a true phantasmagorical.
He sure tried but it's not possible since there's no such thing. There's no reason reason why I should care if I'm consistent with upb. I don't accept upb.
I'm not sure if I'm a subjectivist. I've been grappling with subjectivism and objectivism for some time.
Anyway, my response was to you calling him a religious nut. Well he thinks that he has empirically created an objective standard for morality. Of course he's going to keep preaching it until someone disproves him. I'd do the same thing.
Well one would think but not really. He has been disproved various times but he just bans those people and keeps on preaching like it never happened. That's why I think he is religious and culty.
If you're very concerned about whether the actual young man interpreted Stefan's comments as you do here, you're in luck. The young man clarifies that in first few minutes of his publicly-available interview.

It is so typical that when someones authority is challenged today, that their first reaction is to label the target with a name or term in an effort to discrdit them and to skew or blantantly falsify the facts in order to give their version some validity. As an 18 year old with a little less than 40 years experience I enjoy hearing your evaluations of philosophical subjects. You cannot compare ideas amd make a judgement without an arguement, agreeable or no.
