  • Yoko is Strange even by Frank's standards.... notice his expressions... priceless!

  • all about Hiroshima; did Yoko say that?

  • just the beginning is amazing no yoko either

  • yoko ono was actually high on heroin during this performance

  • I'd rather listen to the feedback than listen to Yoko anyday

  • Yoko should never be let near any microphone. LOL

  • Is that Lowell George who's putting the bag over yoko?

  • Yoko's was getting too loud, so they put a bag over her! AHAHHHHAAAHA

  • 1:32 Yoko shut up...

  • Почему Леннон не указал авторство на Zappa? (Jamrag)

Why Lennon does not have the authorship of Zappa? (Jamrag)

  • @DOMESTOS229 When the concert was finished, FZ and John and Yoko had two separate copies of the master tape. They were in tentative agreement that they would both release the mixes, but John infuriated frank by not only renaming the song, but also mixing out Zappa's band and adding in different musicians. John was pissed because he felt that Mark Volman and Howard were making fun of Yoko by saying 'Put Yoko in a scumbag', but really, who could blame them?

  • just "like"-ing this video is not enough. ooohhhh, so godly.....

  • John Lennon= God

    Frank Zappa= Jesus

    Yoko Ono= Satan

  • @Django5198 dear friend, change Lennon and Zappa.

  • @Django5198 im sorry...... Frank Zappa = GOD

John Lennon = .... John the baptist

    Yoko Ono = Satan

  • @Django5198 amen!

  • Notice how Frank is pointing at Yoko when they say "Scumbag" at the begining

  • WITHOUT YOKO, THESE GUYS ARE NOTHING! NOTHING!

  • RIGHT ON BROTHERS AND SISTERS...LETS HEAR IT FOR THE SCUMBAG....FUNNY SHIT

  • I Know why the song is named scumbag... it is obvious....

    (yoko in a bag=Scumbag :D)

  • why that fucking microphone finished in with that fuckin bitch...WHYYYYYYYYYY??

    SHUT THE FUCK UP YOKOSHITONO

  • Yoko was the best thing that ever happened to John. Any sensible Beatle (or music) fan recognizes that.

  • @XxBeatlesforeverxX Don't you mean the worst?

  • @5eurocups2005 Obviously not.

  • If I was at the mixing console her stage volume would have come up to cover the fact I pulled her from the mains. She would hear herself well, but that would have been it for the goat woman.

  • I can not stand that bitch yoko and John what a fool for letting a piece of shit make a joke out of you and the beatles.

  • So I heard Yoko composed Inca Roads?

  • Yoko is rawking this! Great vid, thank you!

  • Wow. I mean WOW. My 2 absolute musical heroes combined on one stage. They could have just stood there without playing anything, and it would be equally mindblowing. That these 2 human beings met is devastatingly awesome.

  • 3:47 How would you like to be underneath this "Oh Face" during climax? Poor John Lennon.

  • i love how zappa is just is enjoying that jap screaming and john out of key

  • hahaha i was watching this and then looked away and came back to it and was like...whered yoko go? but she was in the bag haha. thank you for posting this. i LOVE this. and yoko just makes it that much better

  • i dont get it, are they calling yoko a scumbag..

  • @happypatio,

It's a joke. Sometime in 1968 or 1969, John created a series of drawings for Yoko that were called Bag One. No doubt Zappa, Lennon, and Yoko thought this would be funny. Get it? One Bag for Yoko. Anyone who thinks Frank didn't approve of Yoko's screaming ain't paying attention. Zappa did crap like this all the time. Phi Zappa Crappa!

  • Well, all concerned were incredible talents. EVERYONE. Unfortunately it did not translate very well. Too bad the Lennon's did not take the Mother's music serious enough to learn it before the performance.

  • i like the sick synth solo... no, i'm not referring to Yoko...

  • Hey, Yoko Ono is a TRENDSETTER! Without her there would've been no Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, and Lady GaGa!!! Yoko only proves that if you sing like shit, be a starfucker, and make a complete fool out of yourself you can make it in this business!

  • An incredible memento! Thanks.

  • It's a flaming train wreck!!!!! Frank!!!! WTF were you thinking when you let them on stage!?!?

  • I've heard better singing from air being let out of a baloon.

  • @MrWails The nicest thing ever said about yoko's "singing."

  • I think she sounds pretty good here, fits in with the rest. I know I'm in the minority on this.

  • YUK put her back in the bag!!!!!

  • WHAT. THE. FUCK. ARE. YOU. DOING. YOKO?

  • Oh, NO! ruins this fine piece of film. with that caterwauling I'm surprised John Lennon didn't shoot himself...

  • acctualy , when i look at it better she is doing it all song lol

  • lol , in one moment it seems like Yoko is there only to ruin song , like when someone intetionaly tries to annoy you ..

  • Holy Crap! I was there! This is the last show at the Filmore East. Lennon and ONO came back with the Mother's to do this as the encore. I didn't think this existed! They recorded the "Live at the Filmore East" album that night. Featuring "The Mudshark".... good times!

  • I love yoko. I think she fits in the zappa world, she's pretty weird. I like that. Zappa is God

  • I like Eddie's lyrics @ 1:12

  • deli la bu yoko

  • I think that you could send this song to someone you didn't like, as if it were a punk greeting card or something. Functional.

  • This is even beyond Middle-East Mosque Chanting. Its been around for ages..I've read about Yoko..even a few songs during the Lennon years that are interesting. But its difficult to describe this; maybe like the lament of a 90 year old Japanese Grandmother whos whole family was destroyed in Hiroshima & Nagasaki. Theres only 1 Yoko..'thank God'. It's like a Japanese Ghost in Chains.

  • just goes to show you who's talented, and who's not

  • HEY JOHN LENNON I'M REAL HAPPY FOR YOU AND IMMA LET YOU FINISH BUT FRANK ZAPPA IS THE BEST MUSICIAN OF ALL TIME, OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!

  • Lennon could certainly be a fucking idiot

  • 8:30 I imagine Hell might sound like this

  • How much worse can singing get

  • Yoko was just a fool.No talent,no insight and not even a sliver of beauty, inside or out.Aside from that she's OK in my book!

  • The guy on the left with the overalls is Howard Kaylan, Flo of Flo & Eddie and he was also the lead singer of The Turtles.

  • hahahaha zappa thinks theyre a joke. john lennons always chewing gum. i sorta feel bad for john and yoko. they werent as advanced as the mothers

  • hahahaha zappa thinks theyre a joke. john lennons always chewing gum

  • hahahaha zappa thinks theyre a joke

  • I dig Yoko

  • I rather listen to a yoko solo record than a Zappa one

  • this is funny and cool so all you aint-getting-art-or-politics-guitar-man haters-sexists-wanksters shut the fuck up you are losing and you know it.

  • I-HATE-YOKO.

  • This "song" blows. Yoko's "singing"..... fucked it up even more. Good to see she was in top form in this. .

  • She's Chinese.

  • ''right on brothers and sisters...lets hear it for the SCUMBAG..'' funny shit

  • Yoko is great and so is her art. I think she´s closer to Zappa than John.

  • Boo hoo Boo hoo Yoko sucks and i don't respect Lennon's judgement for music cause i know better

  • worst shit either of them ever done they shouda been above this shit

  • lost all respect for lennon.

  • 'Put Yoko in a scumbag', indeed. Good for you, Howard! Thanks for trying to save our eardrums!!

  • excellent keyboard work by don preston!

  • Yoko ruins everything!

  • @peterchoyce

truer words have never been spoken

  • ''right on brothers and sisters...lets hear it for the SCUMBAG...'' funny shit

  • That is a great place for Yoko..she sucks. Keep her in a bag so she can't perform or be seen again. She ruined the Beatles and John.

  • It would of been better if they actually had a set lyrics.

Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman were fans of the Ono Lennon's more experimental recordings, which inspired their recordings as the Rythym Butchers.

They must of loved doing this.

  • Never knew anyone filmed this - these two songs are on the Lennon-Ono album SOME TIME IN NEW YORK CITY.

  • @jimlaregina

Not exactly, They appeared on the vinyl version of "Sometime in New York City", not the CD release. Totally different mixes of these recordings appear on the Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention CD "Playground Psychotics"

Wikipedia note - "An alternate mix of tracks 22 through 26, at times with different titles, appears on the John Lennon and Yoko Ono album, Sometime in New York City."

For background, see the YouTube clip - Zappa on John and Yoko

  • @himself801

That's what I meant - the vinyl SOME TIME IN NEW YORK CITY, which I've owned since 1977. I'm not one for re-purchasing stuff on C.D. - anyway, thanks for your response.

  • Damnit they should have tied that bag up and thrown in it the ocean when they had the chance

  • GREAT POST

  • To all the haters who compulsively badmouth Yoko at every opportunity: Shut up. John loved her and she was good for him so screw you.

  • @UmmoSirius

    Face it,

Yoko is always going to be the broad you love to hate because John did the most unBeatle things with her. The average person doesn't care about her Fluxus art group roots and doesn't want her Kabuki inspired vocalize because it's just too far out of mainstream rock.

As for their marriage, it wasn't as rosy as they portrayed it.

  • Very cool. Great to see this video after all of this time. I had the vinyl, of course, and really liked that Zappa, who appreciated both Musique concrète and musicians like Varèse, liked Yoko and her Fluxus roots enough to both appear with her in concert and release the performance.

  • yoko.....oh no..

  • @doomsdayjesus39

    Trite, worn out cliche,

    get over it already.

  • I first heard this on a bootleg CD my brother had years ago. Wasn't this original footage stolen from Frank?

  • I kinda like it for a jam. Yoko was not the first to make an awful sound into a mic.

The context of it being with Zappas band also, for me makes it fall into place.

  • Thank you, Yoko, for your realistic audio depiction of goats making love.

  • Am i the only one who likes all of this ? including Yoko? Brilliant!

  • They say the LSD is stored in the fatty tissue...for future use...like the approach of a bridge which has no bridge to cross the canyon just yet...Yes I believe that is a good analogy. An approach to a bridge from which you get going like 135 miles and hour and then the fatty cells lit go of all this stored up LSD and VIOLA you are carreening across a canyon approach to a bridge which isn't built yet !!! hahahah!

  • This is just embarrasing.

  • sounds like Steve miller band LIVEN IN THE U S A LOL SOMEONE GET ME A CHEESEBURGER LOL

  • I love it when one of the band members brings out a trash bag to contain Yoko's warbling...scumbag indeed

  • Comment removed

  • And Yoko has no idea the word they are yelling. Typical non musical idiot.

  • What the fuck is Yoko Ono doing on stage?! She just makes sounds like sheep being slaughtered. Christ almighty. I'm surprised hollywood didn't try casting her as the character Hannibal in Silence of the Lambs.

  • 1:17 paul mccartney movie is a scumbag???

  • @zamogl7ny gonna put my dirty movies in a scumbag?

  • 1:17 paulmccartney is ascumbag???

  • 1:46 Howard Kaylan thought this would be good idea to keep her from screaming... unfortunately it didn't.

  • and he makes you be a creep

  • ...I was there

  • I'm only 24 so I may be full of poo BUT I see this, listen to this and say, "It's no surprise to me that Wolfgang closed the Fillmores!" It's a shame that my generation hardly knows about this stuff, that they claim, "good music" is Drake and Kesha! I was born way too late.

  • This really isn't that bad of a jam except for that Japanese broad screaming.

  • @432F01 Hi : ) I thumbed you and the others down : )

  • I'm a proud owner of this recording on cassette. Since I first saw this 1971 film snippet on utube, I've gained an indept understanding and appreciation of The Plastic Ono Band and Zappa's contribution to the art of sound. It also explains Lennon's need to break away from the Beatles format which, must have utterly bored him by 1970. This recording, like Mile's Bitches Brew, is one of the seminal sound masterpieces of 1971.

  • How can Yoko even think she has enough muiscal talent or ability to play with frank's band...

  • That probably were all the lyrics Yoko could ever understand and or remember...

Was the song about her? Frank seemed to aim at her in the intro...

That in itself, makes an excellent video about the nasty effects of drugs abuse...

They should run this in schools...

  • Some of Yoko's avant garde stuff had some real possibilities, here and in general... If she paid more attention to or had a better sense of how and when to use it (especially regarding what else is going on) she might have the artistic cred she and John often claimed was unfairly denied her.

  • I hate everything about yoko. Shes just icky.

  • Spectacular

  • thought it was aimed at the perpetrators of the kent state massacre

  • I think Frank would like Yoko for his music considering he is into weird sounds and such

  • i loves frank's ability to compose and chaleenge lennon!!!

  • Waou

  • Yoko finally put in her place--a scumbag.

  • @dantean --- Jesus - i read an account of this show in a book, and now i actually see it....

    Zappa didn't like Yoko

A lot of industry people did not like Yoko

    Scumbag song title

    Yoko screeching

Howard Kaylan puts a bag over Yoko

    So Yoko = scumbag?

  • @decimated550 First, I dig the form of your comment--like YouTube haiku--totally cool. Second, I think I got it wrong originally. The scumbag is being placed over her makes her the dick...the dick that helped destroy the Beatles. Thanks, Yoko--your work here is done!

  • Where did you get this?

  • @Zappa551 zappateers

  • yoko sounds like she is saying SCUMWWAAG

  • JUST TWO WORD'S ! SING ALONG ! SCUMBAG !! OFF SOMETIME IN NEW YORK CITY !

  • thanks4post

  • @StAlfonzosPancakes1 no it's Pro-shot Video.. single camera set up by that Bill Graham would use for various things.. you will not find this quality of video in any amateur video camera of the early 70's, nor would you find a amateur camera that would hold enough film to record more than 8 minutes of footage at a time
