This is sooo true. The fashion needs to be free nowadays and without too differences between men and woman but it just get tougher. If in the1800's mens wore laces, nowadays it will seem as a gay or a fashion disaster.
The fashion needs to be much lighter. without any stigma or bad opinion.
I were shorts almost all the time and if someone don't like it is their Fuckin problem.
I'm pretty sure wearing shorts doesn't make you gay. Being sexually attracted to other men is probably a better indicator of whether or not you are gay.
heh, I'm 23 and for me BELOW THE KNEE is normal, when I look t my childhood pics like kindergarten or early school years and see myself in those sbove the knee shorts my mother bought me I cringe :D At that time (early to mid 90s) it seemed normal to me... I'm always amazed how fashion shapes us even when don't realize that... If I'd been 16 or more in 90s and would be able to consciously decide what I want to wear, I might be one of you guys praising shorts above the knee :)
@lkrnpk I was 16 in the VERY early 90's (1991), and yeah, the majority of guys wore shorts pretty high above the knee. I chose to continue to wear that style, even though some of my fellow teens started wearing them almost to the knees (watch Jordan's Spike Lee commercial for his "extra long shorts" to get an idea), but for the last 20+ years, have worn that "normal" 80s short-short length, yet somehow in the 90's I went from being fashion behind to "gay" in the 2000's, and I'd like to know how!
I wonder if knee length shorts existed back in the 80s? At least in this day and age people can more easily choose what they feel most comfortable with. No one should be forced to wear what there uncomfortable with or be denied the right to wear what they like.
@Penguindog55 I do remember back in the mid-80's seeing the "Bermuda" shorts that did reach the knee, but usually old guys (60's/70's/80's/etc) wore them. The younger ones and of course us kids wore the shorter ones.
Life's too short to pick on someone just because of their shorts, every one's different and capable of making their own choice. Some people feel more comfortable in longer shorts while other's still like wearing mid to upper thigh shorts or shorts above the knee, so what, theres nothing wrong with that. I think I have made my point.
@Penguindog55 Agreed. But GOOD GOD have I been harassed for about the last 10 or so years for wearing "gay" shorts, which is funny how they go from being "behind the times" in the 90's to being "gay" in the 2000's...
I was an adult both decades (most of the 90's at least), so maybe that's how- these young adults now were just kids in the 90's so they wouldn't dare pick on an adult, yet as adults have no problem picking on an older adult now...
There is no right or wrong answer, though it should be said knee length shorts are a reasonable compromise, but everyone should feel free to wear what they feel is most comfortable, it doesn't matter what everyone else around you thinks ( or does it? ) I would sooner entertain knee length shorts and three quarter lengths look smart.
I agree a homophobic attitude is unhealthy, I understand the whole Modesty thing from both points, why shorts above the knee to upper thigh can be considered as indecent, it's also understandable why many people want to protest against that, also why some people just sit back and accept the whole modesty thing no matter how ridiculous it is ( me being one of those people ).
I liked the shorts we wore back then... But those stupid socks! Why did we have the need to have them up to our knees. I look at my old photos and become embarrassed. They looked like cloth knee boots.
@vomitnoise2000 I always thought it was because those were the same socks we wore with pants- at least I usually wore the same ones with pants as I did shorts (short shorts). They didn't quite come to the knee, they were about an inch below the knee. I think they were called tube socks, and had those stripes on them. I used to wear the red stripe ones to ball games to show support of the team, and in shorts you actually saw what I was wearing. Well, that's how I viewed the socks from back then.
@kansasthunderman1 yeah, as someone who was a teenager in the 80's, I can say we never knew any kind but short shorts then. In fact, I always thought "short shorts" were hotpants that barely (sometimes not) covered your butt, NOT the kind that go mid to upper thigh. It seems today anything that's above the knee are "short shorts" and you're gay if you wear them... These kids today, too dumb to look up fashion trends and realize how common they were...
Soooo im trying to find a pair of these for a halloween costume. I'd like, like a neon glossy color with dual stripes on the side. Short shorts, kinda 80's (I think) style. Anyone got any suggestions?
Can guys shorts today even be considered shorts? They look like floods, and they look dumb. Shorts are shorts. Above the knee for all. And who says what you can, and cannot wear? If someone else diesn't like what you're wearing, f them. Who the f cares what they think anyway?
@juliadennehy DITTO! What is annoying though is that you have all these Gen Y punks (20 to early 30-somethings) who do all kinds of disrespectful things though when you wear them. They snap pics with their cell phones, burst out in immense laughter, do all kinds of crap, because they're too young to remember them. I don't care what they say, but I HATE snapping pics without my permission!
@redilliop My consultant today at work, who is 59 years old, a former director of State Street Bank, was wearing... SHORTS. REAL shorts. I took notice, and gave my mental thumbs up! Anything 'below the knee is a capri.' My boyfriend's shorts are about an inch to two inches above the knee. He's comfortable, and I think he has cute legs... that's all that matters. If all people have to do is notice what other people are wearing, then they have no life... losers.
@juliadennehy yeah, I agree, because I've had that same thought! They focus that much on what someone is wearing, then go out of their way to do quite stupid immature things to those wearing them, that they could use that time for something FAR more productive!!
It's just ironic, I was just watching Katy Perry's TGIF video, and it is pretty 80's, but guy short shorts, a staple of the 80's is one look that guys just won't adopt. I don't get it, they adopt all this other 80's stuff like the denim jackets, member's only jackets, hi-tops shoes, even the skinny jeans, but when it comes to short shorts, which were HUGELY common in the 80's, guys won't adopt them... I've worn them for 35 straight years, and I'm not planning on stopping now!!
I still have a few pairs that I continue to wear. I wish they would come back in style. I need to replenish my stock. Oh well, there is always the consignments/thrift stores. I love my short shorts!
@mbamike1 I know International Male used to sell them, but I haven't seen them in a while. In fact, I think IM was bought out, or made into Undergear? Not sure. Either way, they no longer carry that style- at least from what I can find in their catalogs. Thankfully, I got several pairs a decade ago, so I'm good to go for a while! ;)
Start wearing it Men! U need to! It feels like freedom in the sexual area... Most girls will enjoy watching your shorts too! By the way, It makes your life Pinkish! :P To hell the concept of gay.. Its just love in all its multiple ways of expression. :)
Sears is the only store I know where you can buy above the knee shorts for men and I bought several pairs.I don't care what the fashion police say about short length shorts. I like them and they feel normal to me. not those long baggy poor excuse for shorts that are below the knees.Same thing with board trunks. swimming is easier in a speedo or short trunks.
I heard a comment from a comedian she told a teen to pull his pants up because they were down around his thighs.(sagging)The Teen then said, "Why? that is gay" What do you call it then when your walking around with your ass hanging out? I think its stupid and retarded. I just waiting till one of them makes fun of me wearing one of my Kilts...
@kilteddave1 of course, you'll just end up in an arguement by that young punk like I did a couple months ago. These kids have no respect for their elders, and no memories of the 1980's, giving them more reason to be jerks. Oh well, that disrespect will come back on them some way or another; you get what you give.
What gets me is WOMEN can wear short shorts that go all way up there ass crack even when they are a fat ass and out of shape. And that is completly normal and accepted by soceity. Yet a guy does it and is "gay" and "gross". I have a fit and smooth body without all the "hair" and I will wear shorter shorts when I decide to stop wearing my Kilts. In my next life, Im comming back as a women so i can get away with wearing anything.
@kilteddave1 it doesn't make sense, does it? You hear all these men standing up for women over in the middle east, because of them forced to cover up, yet you don't seem to have hardly any men or women doing the same thing for men overe here! I mean it's not like men never wore them, they were sooooooo commen in the 80's. It's funny, because so many of these kids (young adults) act like I'm wearing women's clothes, all because I refuse to change and follow everyone else!
What I also don't understand, about 4 months ago when summer was starting, I wore them out, and there was an older teen/young 20-something girl who just erupted in extreme laughter like I was acting like a clown or something as soon as she saw me, and I just don't get the extreme laughter. I just can't see what's so "funny" about a style that's dated now... If you would have told me 30 years ago this style would be laughed at like that, I wouldn't have believed you, because they were EVERYWHERE!
As far as im conderned, they can take all the pics of me as they want. At least my shorts are not hanging below my ass with a belt tightened around my thighs..What is more stupid? Im 47 and was raised in the 70s and was in my 20s in the 80s. You can guess what Ive worn..Shorts and speeodos...And wear them today. Along with Kilts as well.
@kilteddave1 I agree the way some young black men especially wear their pants falling down with their underpants exposed. 10 years from now they will look back and say "what the hell was I thinking"
@bigrok33 I know, and when they won't want to change their style after doing it for 30+ years, then they can get all the grief they've been doing to me!! I mean really, you do something that spans 5 decades, why change it? Sure, I tried the longer ones in 1992, but didn't like them, and reverted back to the shorter ones from then to today, and I will NOT change back again! They just don't feel right, not having worn the shorter ones for over 35 years!!!
About the person filiming this..This was made back in the 80s. Not last yr. THis was filmed when it was in style. I wear shor shorts while at the gym. I also wear speedos. and have the body for both. I will continue wearing them. There more comfortable in hot weather then shorts below the knees. Last time I looked at the package or labels..It never said "This will make you gay if worn in public"..I can care less what this fucked up american society thinks about shorter shorts.
@kilteddave1 I'm similar to you, but 10 years younger. I grew up in the 80's wearing this style, and wore them through the 90's as well. I NEVER had anyone call me gay in the 80's or 90's while wearing them, but from around 2004 on (at least that's when I started noticing), I've been called "gay", and had more and more incidents happening to me like I had the last time I posted about a month ago- what is wrong with these 20-something punks? I didn't act like that when I was their age!!!
Just a funny thing I want to note. I was at a gas station, wearing shorts EXACTLY like those shown in the video, when the punk kid in front of me commented that they were some "REALLY short shorts", and then argued with me wearing 80's style shorts, saying that he didn't remember guys ever wearing shorts that short during the 80's, but like this video shows, and my memories of the 80's verify, we DID wear shorts that short during the 80's! The kid looked like he was MAYBE mid 20's at the oldest.
@pika62221 oh, I also want to add that he did make some smart aleck comment as he walked out the door about the only reason I wear them is because I'm gay, or something along those lines. Here's where he showed his youth the most, and I showed my nearly 40-something maturity- I ignored that punk's comment, because his comment that he didn't remember guys ever wearing them that short shouts to me that he's FAR too young to remember the 1980's!
Bignok, no, Im not God's gift to women. I am quite a lady's man though. Well, maybe God created me for all people to look up to, I dont know. Lots of men and women do admire me.
Oh I agree with everyone's posts thanking me. Look at the obesity. These american men are truly homosexuals. Look at where the men are hanging out near the restrooms, looking for little boys to instruct. I dont understand why in the states, short pants are considered the correct outer wear for homosexuals. Its not my society, its american society. These men are proud of their sexuality, and obesity, but why? Why are all american men so smooth, with no body hair? Just like women...nevermind.
Maybe because I grew up in the 1980's, and actually remember them, but I just can't get over how these 20-somethings act around me when I wear them today! I've had so many give looks like "What the Hell is he wearing??", and intense laughter, and idiots snapping my picture with their cell phones. They were ALL 30 and under who have done it. What the Hell is wrong with these Generation Y's??? Were Boomers and us X'ers so lazy in raising them we've created the most disrespectful generation ever???
@pika62221 Like I said before, I am 25 and I've never had a pair of shorts that go below the knee. In fact most of my shorts only go halfway down my thigh, they are cool and comfortable.
99% of american men are gay, or have homosexual tendencies. It is part of the american culture. In the states, if a man has two legs he is considered to be homosexual. In my country if a man wear short leg pants, it means the temperature is warm outside. Noice in the video the obese children in the public american swimming pool. Also the poor has a lot of urine, since americans feel it is acceptable to urinate in the swimming pool. Nobody has told them of the health risks of swimming in urine.
The only way to tell if you like something, is by looking at it first. Then you decide if you like it or not. Obviously, I wouldn't look at this again. Someone once said, When you point a finger at someone, there's always 3 pointing back at YOU.
I just wish this look would come back sooner rather than later, I'm getting annoyed by all these laughs kids (those 30 and under) are giving me, because there is nothing funny about this look!!! I grew up with it, sporting them not only in the 70's (no choice then) but during the 1980's (started choosing my outfits) and the 1990's (still decided to wear them, and never noticed people stopped- not all mind you) through the 2000's to today! I didn't just start wearing them, I just never stopped!!!
@TheRamrod100 they look like they're home videos! It's a total blast from the past, as this is EXACTLY what I grew up wearing, as well as virtually every guy in my family!
I personally like to wear shorts not below the knee but just above the kneecap and I'm heterosexual. Plenty of people wear them like that now. Below the knees looks too hip-hop and is uncomfortable in the summer. I think it's only considered gay if they're worn a good distance above the kneecaps, but that's not necessarily the case.
I saw a few old tv shows from the 80's with guys wearing short shorts, so i started to do so, and i was criticized by my sister for them being way too short. I walk and have nice legs, so why not?
@biruss don't let people tell you otherwise, if there was NOTHING wrong with wearing them in the 1980's (which I not only did, but since I was born in the 70's clearly remember), there is NOTHING wrong with wearing them today! They weren't a way of rebelling against a war like I've heard, because there was no war during the 1980's! They weren't part of men dressing like women, because macho guys were considered macho for wearing them! Not a young person fad either, because Reagan wore them!!
I too refuse to wear these rapper style shorts, below the knees or at the knees, to me it's a joke. An outright joke purpertrated by the single minded buyers at department stores. I can't stand board, cargo, shorts, to me they are like big pants. When I go out on short errands I wear 3-4" inseams and I don't care what people think. I am straight, married, in my 50's and in better physical shape than alot of guys in their 30's. I don't mind showing my legs and wearing tight short shorts.
Indeed, so many of men's "shorts" today cannot even be considered "shorts" at all - "high-water pants" would be more appropriate! It's also interesting how the "fashion" trend of longer "shorts" also coincided with the extremely unkempt look of oversize shirts and baggy "relaxed-fit" jeans that hang 'waay down below the wearers' buttocks and practically drag on the street - both trends of which also have coincided with the explosion of overweight and obesity in the American population.
@dvgale the irony, if they go to the knees, they're considered "short-shorts", and if they go to the calf, they're shorts!
When I was growing up in the 80's, if they were at the knees (not very common), they were BERMUDA shorts, and if they went about 1/4 down the thigh, they were shorts. That's what we called them, shorts or bermuda shorts.
I just find it interesting that people keep posting that they were fine with short shorts until someone said it looked gay or that it's gay to wear them etc. Gay does not equal bad and we are the ones who have and know about style. It's a stereotype but usually a true one. Everything old is new again and comes back in style. I say if you look good wearing the shorts - go for it. A lot of men have nice legs and look great with shorter shorts.
@steerpike71 10 years ago, one person wearing a pair of bright colored skinny jeans would be a considered a fag. Now that one million emos do it, it's okay.
What I can't understand is that it's okay to drive an 80's car, listen to 80's music, watch 80's movies, play 80's video games, yet you wear 80's fashion- guy "short-shorts", and it's totally wrong!
WHY? Why it's okay to do everything else 80's, yet you want to wear what you grew up with, and you're a "weirdo" or whatever. I noticed the "excuse" people my age use having worn that style in the 80's, they claim their "parents put me in those, I didn't choose them" yeah, right, they know they did!
I know what you are talking about. I still wear that style, and because I don't follow fashion, I was oblivious to the fact that they had changed until a few years ago a jerkface rudely pointed out to me that all guys stopped wearing them- actually, since I never did, he can't really say that ALL guys stopped, now can he?
I just wish these disrespectful teens/20-somethings would stop popping out their cell phones, and snapping my picture, making disrespectful comments to me!
I was riding my bike last summer (trying to get a tan too) and was at a stoplight and some guy was taking my picture with his cell phone. I should of gave him the finger but I just ignored him. I wore those shorts until guys started telling me at work it looked gay. I was just trying to keep cool in the summertime.
Yeah, the punk that pointed it out to me was almost 5 years younger than me, and said I was going to "get really made fun of". Yeah, by HIS generation!! These 80's babies are too young to remember this look firsthand, so they make fun of it, because they think it's "funny".
I wish I knew what happened, I wore them in the 70's/80's/90's and I didn't hear any bad comments, but in the 2000's I started getting disrespected, because I won't change!
@bigrok33 Just because it looks "gay" doesn't mean it is, it's a stereotype which is ironic, because most gay guys wear long baggy shorts! We both remember the 1980's and how common this look was, and I had a person I worked with go on and on at how "nasty" shorts like this are, but he didn't remember the 80's like we do, so he doesn't remember this look being common. I just can't wait until they come back, and all the ones making fun of it are made fun of for not wearing them!!
@pika62221 Hey, I'm 25 and I've never owned a pair of shorts that go below the knee. To me I think it's stupid, and I feel more comfortable in shorts above the knee.

I like them and they feel normal to me. not those long baggy poor excuse for shorts that are below the knees.Same thing with board trunks. swimming is easier in a speedo or short trunks.
dellownerman 11 months ago 2
short shorts? Hey, it's a fashion thing, and fashion is cyclical, so just as LONG shorts have been around, short shorts will be back again.

I heard a comment from a comedian she told a teen to pull his pants up because they were down around his thighs.(sagging)The Teen then said, "Why? that is gay" What do you call it then when your walking around with your ass hanging out? I think its stupid and retarded. I just waiting till one of them makes fun of me wearing one of my Kilts...
kilteddave1 1 year ago
@kilteddave1 of course, you'll just end up in an arguement by that young punk like I did a couple months ago. These kids have no respect for their elders, and no memories of the 1980's, giving them more reason to be jerks. Oh well, that disrespect will come back on them some way or another; you get what you give.
pika62221 1 year ago 3
What gets me is WOMEN can wear short shorts that go all way up there ass crack even when they are a fat ass and out of shape. And that is completly normal and accepted by soceity. Yet a guy does it and is "gay" and "gross". I have a fit and smooth body without all the "hair" and I will wear shorter shorts when I decide to stop wearing my Kilts. In my next life, Im comming back as a women so i can get away with wearing anything.
kilteddave1 1 year ago 4
@kilteddave1 it doesn't make sense, does it? You hear all these men standing up for women over in the middle east, because of them forced to cover up, yet you don't seem to have hardly any men or women doing the same thing for men overe here! I mean it's not like men never wore them, they were sooooooo commen in the 80's. It's funny, because so many of these kids (young adults) act like I'm wearing women's clothes, all because I refuse to change and follow everyone else!
pika62221 1 year ago 3
What I also don't understand, about 4 months ago when summer was starting, I wore them out, and there was an older teen/young 20-something girl who just erupted in extreme laughter like I was acting like a clown or something as soon as she saw me, and I just don't get the extreme laughter. I just can't see what's so "funny" about a style that's dated now... If you would have told me 30 years ago this style would be laughed at like that, I wouldn't have believed you, because they were EVERYWHERE!

@pika62221 Yep!
I changed the title to reflect the true purpose of the video.

Along with Kilts as well.
kilteddave1 1 year ago 9
@kilteddave1 I agree the way some young black men especially wear their pants falling down with their underpants exposed. 10 years from now they will look back and say "what the hell was I thinking"
bigrok33 1 year ago 6
@bigrok33 I know, and when they won't want to change their style after doing it for 30+ years, then they can get all the grief they've been doing to me!! I mean really, you do something that spans 5 decades, why change it? Sure, I tried the longer ones in 1992, but didn't like them, and reverted back to the shorter ones from then to today, and I will NOT change back again! They just don't feel right, not having worn the shorter ones for over 35 years!!!
pika62221 1 year ago

About the person filiming this..This was made back in the 80s. Not last yr. THis was filmed when it was in style. I wear shor shorts while at the gym. I also wear speedos. and have the body for both. I will continue wearing them. There more comfortable in hot weather then shorts below the knees. Last time I looked at the package or labels..It never said "This will make you gay if worn in public"..I can care less what this fucked up american society thinks about shorter shorts.
kilteddave1 1 year ago
@kilteddave1 I'm similar to you, but 10 years younger. I grew up in the 80's wearing this style, and wore them through the 90's as well. I NEVER had anyone call me gay in the 80's or 90's while wearing them, but from around 2004 on (at least that's when I started noticing), I've been called "gay", and had more and more incidents happening to me like I had the last time I posted about a month ago- what is wrong with these 20-something punks? I didn't act like that when I was their age!!!
pika62221 1 year ago
Just a funny thing I want to note. I was at a gas station, wearing shorts EXACTLY like those shown in the video, when the punk kid in front of me commented that they were some "REALLY short shorts", and then argued with me wearing 80's style shorts, saying that he didn't remember guys ever wearing shorts that short during the 80's, but like this video shows, and my memories of the 80's verify, we DID wear shorts that short during the 80's! The kid looked like he was MAYBE mid 20's at the oldest.
pika62221 1 year ago

Just like women...nevermind.

bigrok33 1 year ago
Maybe because I grew up in the 1980's, and actually remember them, but I just can't get over how these 20-somethings act around me when I wear them today! I've had so many give looks like "What the Hell is he wearing??", and intense laughter, and idiots snapping my picture with their cell phones. They were ALL 30 and under who have done it. What the Hell is wrong with these Generation Y's??? Were Boomers and us X'ers so lazy in raising them we've created the most disrespectful generation ever???
pika62221 1 year ago 2
@pika62221 Like I said before, I am 25 and I've never had a pair of shorts that go below the knee. In fact most of my shorts only go halfway down my thigh, they are cool and comfortable.
IvixHira 9 months ago
99% of american men are gay, or have homosexual tendencies. It is part of the american culture. In the states, if a man has two legs he is considered to be homosexual. In my country if a man wear short leg pants, it means the temperature is warm outside. Noice in the video the obese children in the public american swimming pool. Also the poor has a lot of urine, since americans feel it is acceptable to urinate in the swimming pool. Nobody has told them of the health risks of swimming in urine.
Tophairybutt 1 year ago
@Tophairybutt 99% of american men are gay??? Where are you getting your statistics?
bigrok33 1 year ago
The only way to tell if you like something, is by looking at it first. Then you decide if you like it or not. Obviously, I wouldn't look at this again. Someone once said, When you point a finger at someone, there's always 3 pointing back at YOU.
TheRamrod100 1 year ago
I just wish this look would come back sooner rather than later, I'm getting annoyed by all these laughs kids (those 30 and under) are giving me, because there is nothing funny about this look!!! I grew up with it, sporting them not only in the 70's (no choice then) but during the 1980's (started choosing my outfits) and the 1990's (still decided to wear them, and never noticed people stopped- not all mind you) through the 2000's to today! I didn't just start wearing them, I just never stopped!!!

MrNYCman530 1 year ago
I saw a few old tv shows from the 80's with guys wearing short shorts, so i started to do so, and i was criticized by my sister for them being way too short. I walk and have nice legs, so why not?
biruss 1 year ago
@biruss don't let people tell you otherwise, if there was NOTHING wrong with wearing them in the 1980's (which I not only did, but since I was born in the 70's clearly remember), there is NOTHING wrong with wearing them today! They weren't a way of rebelling against a war like I've heard, because there was no war during the 1980's! They weren't part of men dressing like women, because macho guys were considered macho for wearing them! Not a young person fad either, because Reagan wore them!!
pika62221 1 year ago
I too refuse to wear these rapper style shorts, below the knees or at the knees, to me it's a joke. An outright joke purpertrated by the single minded buyers at department stores. I can't stand board, cargo, shorts, to me they are like big pants. When I go out on short errands I wear 3-4" inseams and I don't care what people think. I am straight, married, in my 50's and in better physical shape than alot of guys in their 30's. I don't mind showing my legs and wearing tight short shorts.
CosmicNut 1 year ago 4
I wear shorter shorts and I'm gay. I have nothing to worry about
ToutCQJM 1 year ago
Indeed, so many of men's "shorts" today cannot even be considered "shorts" at all - "high-water pants" would be more appropriate! It's also interesting how the "fashion" trend of longer "shorts" also coincided with the extremely unkempt look of oversize shirts and baggy "relaxed-fit" jeans that hang 'waay down below the wearers' buttocks and practically drag on the street - both trends of which also have coincided with the explosion of overweight and obesity in the American population.
dvgale 1 year ago 11
@dvgale the irony, if they go to the knees, they're considered "short-shorts", and if they go to the calf, they're shorts!
When I was growing up in the 80's, if they were at the knees (not very common), they were BERMUDA shorts, and if they went about 1/4 down the thigh, they were shorts. That's what we called them, shorts or bermuda shorts.
pika62221 1 year ago 2
I just find it interesting that people keep posting that they were fine with short shorts until someone said it looked gay or that it's gay to wear them etc. Gay does not equal bad and we are the ones who have and know about style. It's a stereotype but usually a true one. Everything old is new again and comes back in style. I say if you look good wearing the shorts - go for it. A lot of men have nice legs and look great with shorter shorts.
steerpike71 1 year ago 12
@steerpike71 10 years ago, one person wearing a pair of bright colored skinny jeans would be a considered a fag. Now that one million emos do it, it's okay.

What I can't understand is that it's okay to drive an 80's car, listen to 80's music, watch 80's movies, play 80's video games, yet you wear 80's fashion- guy "short-shorts", and it's totally wrong!
WHY? Why it's okay to do everything else 80's, yet you want to wear what you grew up with, and you're a "weirdo" or whatever. I noticed the "excuse" people my age use having worn that style in the 80's, they claim their "parents put me in those, I didn't choose them" yeah, right, they know they did!
pika62221 2 years ago 4
I know what you are talking about. I still wear that style, and because I don't follow fashion, I was oblivious to the fact that they had changed until a few years ago a jerkface rudely pointed out to me that all guys stopped wearing them- actually, since I never did, he can't really say that ALL guys stopped, now can he?
I just wish these disrespectful teens/20-somethings would stop popping out their cell phones, and snapping my picture, making disrespectful comments to me!
pika62221 2 years ago 2
I was riding my bike last summer (trying to get a tan too) and was at a stoplight and some guy was taking my picture with his cell phone. I should of gave him the finger but I just ignored him. I wore those shorts until guys started telling me at work it looked gay. I was just trying to keep cool in the summertime.
bigrok33 2 years ago 2
Yeah, the punk that pointed it out to me was almost 5 years younger than me, and said I was going to "get really made fun of". Yeah, by HIS generation!! These 80's babies are too young to remember this look firsthand, so they make fun of it, because they think it's "funny".
I wish I knew what happened, I wore them in the 70's/80's/90's and I didn't hear any bad comments, but in the 2000's I started getting disrespected, because I won't change!
I'll be happy when this look comes back around!!!
pika62221 2 years ago 4
@bigrok33 Just because it looks "gay" doesn't mean it is, it's a stereotype which is ironic, because most gay guys wear long baggy shorts! We both remember the 1980's and how common this look was, and I had a person I worked with go on and on at how "nasty" shorts like this are, but he didn't remember the 80's like we do, so he doesn't remember this look being common. I just can't wait until they come back, and all the ones making fun of it are made fun of for not wearing them!!
pika62221 1 year ago 2
@pika62221 Hey, I'm 25 and I've never owned a pair of shorts that go below the knee. To me I think it's stupid, and I feel more comfortable in shorts above the knee.
