I taped this whole marathon. I kept going across our back yard and buying kodak vhs tapes to record on my vcr. I threw them away years ago. Now they are probably are in a land fill in new hampshire in a garbage bag. boo hoo!
I think Michael Nesmith changed so much after the Monkees - when he grew his beard I've never really been able to see it's the same person and he looks SO different nowadays - you can barely tell it's him, but just for a few split seconds between 3.35 and 3.37 in this vid as he takes the glasses and hat off you get a glimpse of the old Michael Nesmith just by seeing the top half of his face - it's wierd - then he takes the Santa beard off and you can't see it's him again!
That was Ami, Micky's daughter? Was that Davy's daughter as well? There's a girl standing next to Davy who looks a lot like him and also a little girl on his lap that looks like him... could it be a grand daughter?
OMGosh...I have never seen this footage before. It is GREAT. Not only seeing all the guys together again..it was wonderful to see Ami (Micky's daughter) standing behind him in a couple of scenes. Thanks for posting this!
This is the first time that I have seen this footage and its great. We missed out a heck of a lot of the Monkess reunion footage in the UK...not fair. Hopefully someone might piece it all together and release it one day. That would be a great christmas present
@fuzzyli Hey Fuzzy, yes, it's me, Eddie. I was the drummer in 1986 for The Monkees 20th Anniversary tour. That was over 20 years ago! I'm playing with Fernando Perdomo in Dreaming In Stereo as well as with Billy Livesay in The Livesays and also with the original bass player of Foghat, Tony Stevens in Slow Ride. I'm on the new Hall & Oates 4 CD box set "Do What You Want, Be What You Are" on Disc 1 Tracks 16, 17, 18 & 19.
I remembered them showing this video on MTV during Christmas 1986. I loved this video but, they should put the whole video including the beginning where they showed "We wish you a Merry Christmas". I taped this song as well.
OMG is that Nez as Santa? J/K but seriously my friend and I used to watch this (we were 12) and we were SURE that that was him - that it was the only way he'd appear in the video! LOL
I love that part in the beginning when Davy and Peter are wrapping Micky up like a present. LOL also those parts when they're giving out the presents, omg that part when Davy takes that axe outta the bag and making that scary face and Peter's reaction to it is so priceless. And the part where Davy and Peter fall through the hole in the table is hysterical. And that part when Davy sang I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus was adorble.
Yes those are Davy's daughters, and the pretty blond Micky has his arm around during "And So This Is Christmas" is his daughter Amy. I don't know if Peter's son or daughter was there or not. His daughter would have been about 17 and his son 11.
From the sound of the announcer at the beginning of the clip, it sounds like this may have been from Nickelodeon's "Nick Rocks" Maybe they were re-airing the video. I think Nickelodeon is owned by MTV. Great video.
I don't know if I'd agree that Mike didn't look happy, I think he just felt akward. Just before the clip ends, you can see a quick, sincere smile he flashes to Peter.
