  • Hi there kr103. Any chance of you putting the 'B' side of this up on YouTube? be relly nice if oyu could. Thanks

  • I recently aquired a 78 of the Four Crotchets singing 'Sweet Sue' with 'Yogi Bogi' on the reverse side. I will try to upload it if I can get my head around the formats and file sizes.

They were amazingly tight vocally and make a great sound.

Incidentally there are two pre-war films of them playing on the Pathe News archive site (search for Radio revellers). It was a real treat to discover that film still existed.

  • I love this! I played it to my 21 year old son and he thought it was great!

  • Fantastic to hear this posted. My dad was Harry Hawes. I've just been given a 78 of the Four Crotchets singing Sweet Sue and I've added some photos and uploaded it.

Do you have any more musuc from the Four Crotchets or the Philco Four as they later became known. I'd love to hear it. Thanks

  • Sorry, there is not much on my shelves, and most of these discs are played to death and no fun to listen to. But who knows what the next auction list may bring?

  • Many thanks for posting this! This is the first time I have been able to hear The Four Crotchets!

The singers are: Art Reed (with guitar), Freddie Holmes, Harry Hawes & Jack Hazelton. They didn't quite fade into total obscurity - they turned professional as "The Philco Four". After the war Art Reed & Freddie Holmes were joined by Al Fernhead and Stan Emeney and achieved success as "The Radio Revellers".

  • A thousand thanks for your comments which are most helpful. I hope to post something by the Radio Revellers in the future, but as I have to work sometimes, I'm a little slow going through my collection ...
