In the animation, the cupcake "lids" become part of the dress. In the real toy, as you can see in the advert, the lids had to be removed and put to one side (so they'd get lost). With the lid removed these dolls were nothing - just normal dolls with thick, rubbery dresses that turn inside out instead of legs.
