This is reminiscent of that episode of Cheers where Diane and Sam go on a double date with Lilith and Frasier at home. Lilith desperately wants the evening to go well and argues with Frasier constantly. Diane and Sam are caught in the middle with Sam slowly losing interest and concerning himself with eating chips. I'm sure that that episode was the template for this sketch.
