At least in Cuba we call "Blanquitos" to those mixed races from "mulatto & white". Wow! I had been trying to find a way to visit Cuba in the next couple of years ever since a friend of mine mentioned that after Fidel dies (and the embargo is lifted) it will be a Miami suburb.

I applaud these brothers for being critical about the place they live in, although the Cuban government has great intentions for its people as a nation that truly cares about the well being of their society that does not mean that they have solved all of the social contradictions that remained after their revolution such as classism, racism, patriarchy, etc. These are critical contradictions that need to be dealt with, but only through taking up a more dialectical materialism approach.

Racism in Cuba's independent history has never been institutionalized like in the USA, but it is impossible to rid a society of all racism. You as a white Cuba must know that if you walk down the street in Cuba holding hands with a black girl you are going to get some looks from people who think you should be dating someone of your same race. Wow! I had been trying to find a way to visit Cuba in the next couple of years ever since a friend of mine mentioned that after Fidel dies (and the embargo is lifted) it will be a Miami suburb.
But since I am African-American (non hispanic), I'm wary after seeing this vid. I have an almond complexion and got along pretty well in Puerto Rico and Belize, but I don't know about Cuba.

This video is politically motivated, Pro US capitalism, anti cuba- revolution. Where are the CNN news reports and interviews with Dead Prez, Wise Intelligent, KRS 1, Immortal Technique... No other country oppressed blacks more then the US, that's one of the reasons HipHop was born here. That news reporter getting surrounded by a groups of cops proves what, what happened to Sean Bell? You are right: there's plenty of discrimination in the US and groups like Dead Prez and so on are marginalized. However, that does not mean that the video is a lie or politically motivated. There IS racism in Cuba and in fact, the government just created a commission to watch over rap musicians and to "act" (beat them up) if their lyrics criticize the revolution. Not the same. Not even close as the USA.

yea, so i wasn't trying to say that what these guys are saying isn't true. I love Los Aldeanos and Comision Depuradora and the entire Real 70 squad. What i'm saying is that CNN is more critical of Cuba than the US. U are right about the commission for Rap music in Cuba. U know what that's about, Censure ship. But i've yet to hear their story on US censureship. My point was that it's hypocritical..
