  • Hah, you were a pushed division to? I graduated the 16th of December.

  • @LethalUnlimited yep. In 2010? If so that means you most likely graduated the same day as my husband.

  • @NavyGypsy 2011.

  • @LethalUnlimited Oh well then you graduated a year after us.

  • @NavyGypsy Would've been some shit if I did though.

  • this girl is so cute and natural.

  • @NavyGypsy thanks for the advice. I cut my hair and i feel alot better now. i was sposed to ship monday but im getting over the flu so my chief had it fixed to wednesday.

  • Just came across your video by accident. I retired from the Air Force in 2001 after a 21-year career and just wanted to congratulate you for taking the time to share your experiences with others who are facing the same challenges or contemplating joining the military! As you embark upon the adventure which awaits you, may the wind keep your sails full and your journey remain free of storms! I render a huge salute to the next generation as you continue to carry the torch!

  • How often do you call your family?

  • @blessed2933 whenever i want, just like normal life. i am not on a ship though

  • @NavyGypsy am talking about when you were at the bootcamp

  • @blessed2933 oh. I think we got phone calls 3 times... maybe 4.

  • At A school do they teach hands on or slap a book and make you study for everything?

  • @steezyTre210 depends on what you learn, i got both

  • how long do you need to be in the navy to retire?

I believe it's 20 years but im not sure,

  • @starzapanzi yes 20 but you can also retire at 5 or 10, you just don't get as much back since you haven't put alot of money into your retirement account.

  • @navyGypsy. Are you allowed to wear makeup after boot camp? And where will you likely be sent????

  • @shannonrosehofmann yes your allowed to wear makeup and it depends on your job

  • Do they have Dive motivators at Bootcamp? Also do you anything about when they test people to try out for Navy Diver? I turn 17 March 1, and I talked with a recruiter already and told me that I couldn't start processing until I'm senior in highschool. So I'm taking my Senior year in summer and fall of 2012. So once I get my diploma can I just sign the dotted line and ship off that next week? or do I HAVE to do DEP?

  • @DIVERPRESSLEY If you are signing up for Diver then they should let you DEP in before the start of the fall semester, since there is generally a wait on leaving for bootcamp. My wait was 6 months.Usually people who do not DEP are people going UNDES or BM (you don't want those). And if you are in a special program like Navy Diver, I believe you get put in a special Division that focuses more on swimming so you would have possibly "Dive Motivators". I just got pushed off a platform.

  • @NavyGypsy Okay! Once I can start processing I will be sure to read the fine print and make sure that I don't get stuck in those Rates! I heard I would be enlisting under a "Navy Challenge Program" a mandotary 6 year contract! Yikes! So if I don't pass Pre-Dive school im screwed! So I will be continue getting physically above standards and aiming for the highest scores I can get! Thanks for the quick response! -Stephen

  • @DIVERPRESSLEY My contract is 6 years, it seems long but it really isn't bad, and they will push you into a rate that isn't bad either, they value people who want to do those things, you would most likely end up a CT, which isn't physical at all but its a great job.

  • I have 9 days til RTC and I was wondering if I should cut my hair before bootcamp.

  • @TheBriannaReynolds If you don't then they will. It is up to you though. I cut mine before and they still cut it again before boot was over. Remember: CHIN LENGTH, as in the bottom of your earlobe, or shorter. Good Luck!

  • @Armorhead81789 chances are 37 is not good enough for medical fields. For the most part the navy is trying to take on only scores of 50 and above on the asvab.

  • girls are called females? and boys are called males? You don't say?!

  • @labutrep yes i do say!

  • How long from when you sign your contract do you get shipped ? And what did you get on your asvab

  • @AllanLando it depends. I shipped after 6 months

  • every video i see from boot-camp all they wear are PT clothes. is that all you wear? or do you get other "real" uniforms?

    thanks in advance :)

  • @nickJ5959 we wear other uniforms

  • Hey in boot camp do you get offered to change your job in the navy or see a classifier?

  • @thepoised1snc I think only if you are undesignated.

  • Good day miss, I am interested in joining the navy. I want to be in the medical field for the military. If i score a 37 on the asvab, can i still reach my goal to get a good job in the navy?

  • @Armorhead81789 I am sure you can. I don't know the numbers on each job but that should be pretty good.

  • Your hair is out of regs/ Barely, but out.

  • @clnphimu um... no. it doesn't reach the bottom of my collar in this video. It was definately months before my hair starting going in a bun

  • do all females that go into the navy, seriously have to get their hair cut short ?

I was jw. Really curious actually. I know males do, but what about females ??

  • @aLeXxIsStUnNen16 No one is going to give a shit about how short your hair is cut, it will be the same as all the others around you. It's a great career choice and hair should not even be a factor.

  • @Sidepiece2 But hair is a factor, it really sucks to feel ugly all of a sudden! I was so excited when my hair was finally long again but its been over a year and hasn't grown back to where it was before boot. Once your there you don't really care but if you can save it you really want to.

  • What did you do on the very first day, do the drill instructors just scream in your face? And may I ask what you're planning to do now that's it's over? Do you guys have to choose a career or something? I'm seriously considering joining the Navy or Air Force.

  • @ShihTzusShit You sign a contract for a job before you enter boot camp. RDC's (or drill instructors as you call them) do not get all up in your face or anything but they do yell alot. After bootcamp you go to A school (which I have a video about) and then you go on to do your job.

  • I'm considering joining the Navy what State will they send me to for basic traning ?

  • @Pedroakasp407 Illinois, right outside Chicago. Its the only place the navy has bootcamp.

  • Thank you you've been a great help

  • @MrLegendaryeagle25 Are you asking if I was in Delta Barracks? No. I was on the other base. We didn't have barracks just 1 building.

  • Delta Barracks

  • @MrLegendaryeagle25 Are you asking if I was in Delta Barracks? No. I was on the other base. We didn't have barracks just 1 building.

  • @MrLegendaryeagle25 Are you asking if I was in Delta Barracks? No. I was on the other base. We didn't have barracks just 1 building.

  • @MrLegendaryeagle25 Are you asking if I was in Delta Barracks? No. I was on the other base. We didn't have barracks just 1 building.

  • @BlueEyedBarbie4 I'm in the process of joining the navy also, well I take my asvab test in a few weeks. Any tips??

  • @SimplyCaring24 yeah. u dont have to study its easy

  • Ok good, I was worried about that because even though I leave May 22, that wouldn't be tons of time to pack on the weight! Thanks for your help!

  • Do they cut ALL the girls hair if it is long? And you know how us girls go through that time of the month.. how do they go about that as to provide us with what we need? I leave feb14

  • @BlueEyedBarbie4 I have a video called females in bootcamp. I talk about all that stuff and yes they do cut your hair.

  • @BlueEyedBarbie4 Wow I leave Feb 13th :))

  • @STEPHinitely9213 You and BlueEyedBarbie4 could end up in the same division. If not you will be definitely graduating together!

  • What's your best advice to survive boot camp?

  • @caligirl8789 Do what your told. Remember they are trying to piss you off and make you cry but its all an act and find a couple good friends to help get you through. There can be fun moments if you have friends.

  • I'm 5'6 too, but I'm 100 pounds and can't gain weight for anything. When I went to MEPS it wasn't a problem, they said there was no minimum but what happens if coming into bootcamp you're under, I guess bootcamp has a minimum? I can't imagine they'd ship me to Chicago knowing my weight just to have them send me right back because I'm too light? But I'm not sure?

  • @MsChelseasChannel Don't forget I went to bootcamp over a year ago, they can change standards and they do... often. A lot of people lost weight at boot cause of all the exercise, thats all it is. They don't want someone like you to loose weight.

  • @MsChelseasChannel They won't send you right back.

  • What is the minimum weight? When I went through MEPS they told me Navy didn't have a minimum weight, just a max and a minimum height requirement (the no min. weight is the main reason I got cleared to go through, I wouldn't have ordinarily) but obviously I haven't gone through bootcamp so if I need to be packing on weight i'd like to know lol

  • @MsChelseasChannel It depends on your height of course. I am 5'6" and can not go below 114 at bootcamp.

  • @MRSAUCEDOG . Lol im a military policeman with a security clearance. I was jus messin wit yall.lol don't take it up the ass

  • Gratz on making it and good luck with the rest of your enlistment. Much respect

  • Lmao, cookies?really wow.navy must b a walk in the park. Yall wouldnt make it in Army.BCT nor reception. However im sure navy gurls r better lookin.

  • @luismig1991 not every one gets cookies. they encourage smaller people to eat them so we don't go below the minimum weight but if your bigger then they make fun of you. I was on the small side of the spectrum... about 5 lbs above minimum.

  • @luismig1991 NO... WE ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO GET IN THE ARMY....OUR ASVAB SCORES ARE TOO HIGH AND WE ARE NOT CRIMINALS! BECAUSE ALONG SIDE WITH THE "CHAIR-FORCE" WE DON'T TAKE FELONS ...ANYONE COULD PULL A TRIGGER YOU DUMB ASS.

  • What exercises did you Navy folks do? I still have my PT workout from Air Force BMT.

  • @FollowerOfTheGods lots and lots of running. pushups and situps. mountain climbers. 8 counts. jumping jacks.

  • does anyone go to navy boot camp on febuary 21st? thats when i go and i kinda wanna know somebody when i go lol

  • @NavyGypsy .... i applied online its almost a week and still havent got a response what do i do ? please and thank you

  • @hazeleyezkill Applied for the Navy? I would find a local recruiter and go talk to them.

  • @NavyGypsy thank u

  • Do you have to take showers with your shipmates?

  • @GREASYMANN504 In bootcamp, yes

  • I'm not so athletic, and I don't do so well on pushups, I leave feb 14! What do I do! :/

  • @evenaj926 happy valentines! geez. just do what you can. i still stink at them. you will get stronger in boot. Just put in the effort at PT

  • @evenaj926 Hey, I'm going up with you! I'm going in as an E1-FN Fireman. I'll see you there.

  • @evenaj926 haha i leave feb 15 its not that bad i know plenty of people in the navy and its not bad at all

  • @evenaj926 I leave the 7th my pushups aren't great either

  • I hear you have to stay up for 3 days when you get there is that true?

  • @RachelBeautyx3 I don't really recall... P-days (processing) is kinda a blur but you get a little bit of sleep, couple hours here and there. but not alot for about 5 days. when you go to your ship (your living quarters) you will get your first 8 hour sleep in a while and you will love it!

  • did anyone cry during training?

  • @thedonmynigg sure they did. for some people who have never left home its especially difficult.

  • @vekeei yea but now we revilie at 0600 and tap (sleep) at 2200

  • @KittenCat2223 they told us that, but each schedule is different so graduating divisions can get everything done in time.

  • Hi, so I just wanted to ask about the gas chamber because i am so terrified of doing it. How long did it last? Were you in pain? Can you just please tell me the whole procedure. Btw your videos are so much help , thank you.

  • @xoxoagi I have talked about this multiple times but as long as you breathe normal it just stings a little for about 30 seconds and then your done.

  • whats your daily schedule at bootcamp? when do you get up? is it fitness int he morning, then classes after?

  • @vekeei The schedules is different each day, just depends but you are usually awake before 5 and you do stuff until about 9. Then you go to bed for 8 hours.

  • Cant wait for bootcamp, 04042012 cant come quickly enough! Random: Youre really pretty btw;)

  • @kingdavey16 Thanks! Good Luck in boot!

  • alright for starters, ur gorgeous! lol. so im 17 in feb and my whole life ive wanted to join the navy. but i have to know some stuff first, 1. if i got in a fight at boot camp with another female what would happen(like fist fight) 2.what kind of exersice is there? such as running(how many miles) and how do u show good respect to ur drill sergent? thanks so much!

  • @savbeastify First you will call you RDCs Petty Officer or Chief all the time. You run until they tell you to stop, I have no idea how far we would go during PT but it felt like a lot. and do not get in a fight at bootcamp, you will get rolled back to graduate later or get kicked out in an instant.

  • "Boot Camp Boot Camp Don't Be Blue...My recruiter Screwed me too...." You guys got to be thinking past Boot Camp because you are there only for a few months,But your ass is going to be in the fleet for years and it isn't anything like Boot Camp!!!!!!

  • i want to know what the gas chamber is like?

  • @lovinchrisdrew1 Its not bad. quick burning and then you get out.

  • Quick question(s) for you. What is the classroom training at Navy bootcamp like? I know you have to study/read a lot, and that not all classroom training is going to be hands on training. But I was wondering if you had to take a lot of notes, or if they handed out things like homework? (Though, I heard they don't hand out homework.)

Also, I know you have to take a multiple-choice test sometime in week 2 or 3. But is that the only one? And are the classroom RDC's nicer, or just a gruff?

  • @SGL31Arsenal You have the same RDCs for everything. For lectures you may have a teacher type RDC, they are more relaxed. You take 3 multiple choice tests throughout boot. You carry around a book all the time (a training guide) and you study that constantly. There is hands on stuff but those aren't for the academic tests... thats like firefighting and the gas chamber.

  • @NavyGypsy I'm only guessing here, but the book you are talking about, would that be the Bluejacket's Manual? If so, I've been reading and studying that when I can after work. Sadly not as much as I'd like too...

By the way. Are you still stationed at P'cola NAS? I am about 30-40'ish miles away near Gulf Shores, AL. Been there a lot and it seems like a cool place from what little of it I have actually seen.

Thank you for such a quick reply!

  • @SGL31Arsenal I am not talking about the Bluejackets manual, although you will get that too you won't touch it much. I was never at NAS but no I am no longer in the south.

  • Do the Drill instructors really abuse you like people say.I know there mean but how mean.I mean i heard stories about poeple getting there face spat on

  • @supafamouskid No way! When I say "beat" I just mean they make you work out. Our RDC's were nice once you realized they have your best interest at heart. They aren't trying to make you fail, although they want you to think that. They yell sure and they are scary sometimes but they are good people.

  • @NavyGypsy how was the food lol i know that is kind of irrelevant but i was just wondering

  • @AREALG100 Don't worry, its good. Especially the cookies

  • thanks for uploading this. i leave soon. im in the dep program right now. im kinda nervous about boot camp. like, im worried about if i will pass or not..

  • @AREALG100 You'll have that bit of nervousness right up until BattleStations. You'll be okay though. Just try and you can do it.

  • do you guys in the navy train with the standard m-16 or the m-4, or other assault rifles or pistols?

  • @epicrussiansaxguy depending on your job will dictate what you train with. I would on computers so my only training was during boot and we used a 12 gauge shotgun and a 9 mil.

  • I put peanut butter on my cookies!!! It WAS good!

  • Sorry about the last comment my question was answered in another one of your videos.

  • Hey thanks for the chance to ask questions. Are there any specific exercises to prepare for boot camp? I know about mountain climbers but that's about it.

  • I see no crows => not interested

  • @SheltonShenanigans Thats 11 months ago... I have them now and you don't get them out of boot, all I am talking about here is boot.

  • So I went through MEPs (Hate that place) I am signed to go in as an OS. But I have been wondering whats the life at bootcamp like. Like is it more of a annoying stress or more of a "I am scared out of my mind" kind of stress?

  • @protectandserv mostly annoyance maybe the other once and a while like for gas chamber or something but it really isn't that bad.

  • did you get any phone calls?and did you graduation date ever change from the first original one given?

oh and how many nights can you write?

  • @labeoufislove You can write at night once you find a change and yes you get a couple phone calls.

  • I have an idea of what I wanna do in the navy reserves but just needed to know if we get to be close to home or chose to be in another state. Thank you so much for your quick reply!!

    Adrienne

  • @APorfiriadis30 If it is just the reserves then you get to go back home after school and just work 1 weekend a month or something like that. It is a pretty okay deal I think but I don't know much about it.

  • I am really thinking about joining myself but have a bit of hesitation and really scared. Why the Navy and whats the hardest part of basic? And do you get to choose where you go to school?

  • @APorfiriadis30 I chose the navy so that I could travel. The hardest part of basic for me was living and working with a bunch of strangers. You get to choose your job, not where you learn your job.

  • Hi I'm already on my way to joining but I just wanna know if you got to work with slot of firearms in basic?? Thanks :-)

  • @Rap1701 We shoot a 9mm and a 12 gauge shot gun during basic

  • Im thinking about join the Navy ( nurse) do I have to cut my hair? I have a long hair and my hair is really prescious to me... So do I have to cut my hair?

  • @petiniem Yes you will have to cut your hair. It is really awful if you let them do it so if you join cut it yourself, chin length

  • I'm about to Be 19 in Dec 23 and after the holidays i'm really thinking of joining to change my life is the navy worth it or should I trythe Army?

  • @berzz23 I think the navy is amazing, it was my chance to change my life and I would make the same choice over, I am sure. I suggest looking at both branches and the job you would like to do and then go talk to a recruiter if that is your choice.

  • Im thinking of joining the Navy and I was wondering if there was anything I could do to save my hair from being CHOPPED off.?

  • @krisibabygirl absolutely nothing but chop it off before hand yourself... chin level at least, straight across.

  • @NavyGypsy How would you know where you could end up? ..Deployment, basically.. Did you get maced? and last.. are there any hot guys?

  • @OmgItsMe2k12 In bootcamp guys are not hot. You know where you can go depending on your job. No i did not get maced, its not apart of my job.

  • let's get married

  • @babyboojez Sorry I'm married

  • @NavyGypsy I'm soo close to joining the Navy and I was wondering how much is your income? When you go to basic training, do you train EVERYDAY? After training is it alot of fun?

  • @OmgItsMe2k12 No training is not a lot of fun, it is a lot of hard work. You get tired and upset and want to quit but in the end you love it. Yes you train everyday but you get Sunday mornings off to rest, kinda. And you make enough to live google it. I don't like to speak about money but its not a ton

  • @NavyGypsy How would you know where you could end up.. Deployment, basically? Did you get maced? Last.. Are there any hot guys?

  • @OmgItsMe2k12 No we did not get maced. You find out where you could go once you are in A school. No the guys all look like dorks in bootcamp.

  • Does the gas chamber suck i was hoping the navy didint have gas chamber lol an an should u get fit 1st if u suck at running

  • @jjmoney18 I would practice running if I were you and no the gas chamber isn't as bad as you would think

  • @maziedaisy18 She will be able to write in the next couple days although the letters only get sent out on mondays. Once you get the address make sure to write as much as possible because bootcamp is hard work and having good support will be so much help.

  • I'm right now between the Navy and the Air Force. Why? I find that there's no military spirit in the Navy. What I mean is that, I have seen many videos of Navy bootcamp and in none of them, I have seen the instructors shouting to the recruits or pushing them through extreme pressure. I see Navy bootcamp that it doesn't brake you down at all. Is more like...come to bootcamp, learn how to defend a ship, fire some bullets, do some PT, and you're a sailor. Please, help me with this doubts. Thanks

  • @priki7 I don't know what videos your watching but my bootcamp was hard and painful and exhausting. The instructors are like any other drill instructor you have ever seen. I understand that the air force is a part of the military but they are very different branches. We have military spirit but we are steeped in tradition so we have a lot of ceremony.

  • my division had 88 people in it. Hope you like your rate. I kind of miss it. 6 year Navy veteran.

  • Do you feel like the experience has improved the way you handle things mentally?

  • @Atomicism I always handled life pretty well mentally, since mine hasn't been super easy but I think it gave me more confidence so maybe I handle things a little better

  • Lol u said Florida and already I recognized the layout of ur room let me guess Delta barracks? I'm not gunna say the name of the base but I was there back in '07 the best base I was on compared to everywhere I was stationed after that

  • @wokkaflokka81 Florida yes but the other base. Not the one your thinking of, I work with computers.

  • Your bob haircut is really nice here . Can you tell me was it cut at your work place or did you go to a salon yourself?

  • @dogfish281 haha. that is a bootcamp cut, I hated it and later got it styled a little. Glad you like it, for me it was a sign of bootcamp oppression.

  • I can't weat to go to the navy. I want to become an officer to become SWCC

  • oh wow ok. im only 19. Did you have to buy clothes before you left to take with you or were you issued everything when you go there?

  • @TheSoldierWhoSurfs13 Do not bring anything but some money and your id to Boot cause you will pay to send it all back home

  • Hey NavyGypse im a female also, i am shipping to bootcamp to great lakes on monday 11/29/11 i was wondering if they actually give paps there ive been hearing all sorts of different answers and its driving me crazy haha, but any word of advice for females throught the worst moments?

  • @TheSoldierWhoSurfs13 Yep, you will get one if you are over 21. Or if for some reason they believe you need one. My biggest piece of advice is to find a friend in your division, she will help you through.

  • Do females have to cut their hair off for bootcamp?? Recruiters say yes, anything online I find says yes... I went to go get my hair cut (leaving for navy bootcamp soon) and the hair dresser told me her friend went to Navy bootcamp (graduated 4 months ago), cut her hair off, only to find out that you could wear it in a bun and keep it long... she said if you want to wear it down it has to be short, otherwise it can be pinned in a bun...she swears her friend told her so... what gives????

  • @sspecht1415 Alright so the great hair controversy: everyone hopes and dreams that you don't have to cut your hair but as of right now all the booters (people just out of boot) have short hair. I heard a rumor that they did a test group to see if they would let people where it long like the other branches and that it didn't work. Its your choice but they stink at cutting hair...

  • @NavyGypsy haha! ok cool, I ship out in 3 weeks, thanks for your help!! :)

  • Okay my boyriend just went off to bootcamp & I have a question, will he be able to come home back here in florida to visit before he gets shipped off?

  • @ThisIsMyIDName Most likely not but just start saving now and go visit him once he is settled in his school!

  • Im planning on going to the navy like around next year and I want to know whats bootcamp like for girls like if you can please summarize everything.

  • @Wendy100z Its the same for boys haha. I will throw out a quick vid just for you.

  • @NavyGypsy Kayy thankyouu

  • hey im 16 turning 17 soon im a junior in high school i live in nyc and im planning to join the navy wen i graduate and my question is wen u come out of navy bootcamp do u go to 'A" school right away or do u wait a while and do u choose your career there or what and please explain what 'a" school is soo i hope to hear from you soon

  • @youngreg177 I actually have a video on A school if you want to watch it but it is just training. You will know your job before you even sign a contract. You will go directly to A school to receive training and then you will go out to the real navy

  • @NavyGypsy ooook and how is the process of getting enrolled to bootcamp do u just find a recruiter and he/she ships u off or is there a bit of training before u go to boot camp

  • @youngreg177 bootcamp is your first training. you may have a few meetings before you ship. I had 6 months in between signing my contract and shipping

  • @NavyGypsy oook thnkx

  • I had a question on the female hair requirements in the Navy, as far as cutting it, and putting it up. I haven't been able to find much information on it, and would really like to prepare myself ahead of time.
