  • BE VERY CAREFUL

A few degrees change in temp can collapse a snow tunnel. Kids usually hit the sides of the walls or the top of snow caves also. Which can collapse a snow cave/tunnel easily

If you make the tunnels TOO long you may be to late to dig them out. Straight up truth

Humans pass out from lack of oxygen in around 2 min and die in around 5 min. If you cannot reach that person in less than 30 sec to 1 min and dig them out within that 30 sec to 1 min the snow cave is to big and or to long

  • dangerous--In my town a kid was killed when the tunnel collapsed and parents werent around

  • This is a very effective survival shelter, actually very cozy with a good sleeping bag.

  • 21 people hate children and anything fun:(

  • We have 3 feet of snow here

  • yeah rub it in

  • don't you even warn ur little one that the cave might colapes???

  • Many thanks for this unusual video! Especially with the smaller cell off the larger one. If you were to pat the snow down before making these 'pod-homes' you could live in the. Just stick a vent pipe through the roof and you could even have a fire. If you had another smaller pipe laying flat on the floor or just about it on a little bridge of snow to the fire it would let air in as the fire burns the oxygen. Rub and smooth the roof and walls so it does not melt into icicles, would be cosy!

  • Aw she's so cute! How long did it take to build?

  • i wanna do this before i die !!

  • Damn, that little girl was ugly!

  • @billwho62 Get a life, dick head

  • i have a bigger one XD

  • i remember 2 years ago in VA we had a big ass Blizzard so day 7 i made a Snow Fort while it was still snowing and when i went in half way with my little cousin i hit my head on the snow and i got knocked out and my snow fort collapse and me and my cousin got stuck. lmao it was fucking funn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • shes cute

  • your like the grinch you lure little girls into your cave.

  • Are you a boy or a girl?

  • ok it is cool and all but you have to at lest have it 4inces from the top if it colapes she will die

  • tried this got about 2ft high then i died so now im posting this...

  • @robbysaw ugh dont you hate it when that happens!

  • Loves this jheeze!!:)

  • awesome. now i just need some snow.

  • What an adorable guy....how rare. Hope she can somehow be steered from trying to rule the world. I think this man will convince her to be her best self along the way. Sigh....

  • typical woman,,, never happy!

  • Check out my cross map tomahawk and snow fort! :)

  • we have 25 inches of snow where I live, how do i do that with out it colapsing

  • @luckyj224

You make a big pile and let it sit for a bit, best if snow is at packing temperature (does it make a nice compact snowball?) Your using the snow's own weight to pack it together.

Then you just dig out a hole, and keep digging. See other comments for how I dug it. It needs to be about a foot thick. Poke sticks in it from outside to warn if your getting thin. Any thicker and you start facing more serious issue in event of collapse, of course keep an eye on the kids.

  • @luckyj224 if u live by a dead end you go into a snow bank pick a spot and dig

  • @luckyj224 if you dont want it to cave in you can spry it with some water after youre done so it stays hard.

  • physics is key to a snowfort. it collapses and you physically stand up :)

  • tehe its huge and she wants it bigger lol i had a good laugh im from aus and havnt even seen snow myb one day :D

  • AWESOME! but when u build it next time make sure it has an air vent as carbon monoxide can build up in the cave

  • @bennypope you r awesome too, but next time make sure you think before what u write..

  • Dude that's really cool, I'm glad you would do something like that with your kids. I wish my dad would do things like that with me!

  • now put a tv in it and watch the superbowl and you dont need a fridge to cool your beer :D

  • Thats so cool!!

  • Thats

  • how did you get such a big snow pile???

  • @ Teddie120 My apartment was between two small parking areas. I asked the maintenance man if he would plow them both onto the little strip of grass in front of my place.

  • @jusjosh21 You probably don't let them play outside either, out of fear they may be bitten by West Nile mosquitoes. Better they experience the world through TV and video games. Enjoy your zombie children, jeesh!

  • @FisherCase so f*cking right. i think you are a great parent! cheers from the cold parts of sweden!

  • @FisherCase I Agree Too. Who cares about his/her children, Atleast our children are having fun. Unlike Theres

  • @jusjosh21 you obviously know nothing about snow caves so don't talk and show you ignorance

  • @jusjosh21 are you serious? it take more than a couple minutes to die of freaking hypothermia. don't be so paranoid its just snow and just walking on it isn't going to kill you....

  • @jusjosh21 dude what you do is build the roof thinner

  • @jusjosh21 Are you retarded?? Do you know that its just a father doing something fun with his daughter...lighten up jerk. Fisher I think you did a great job on building that..looks pretty cool!!

  • @jusjosh21 Fucking game nerd...

  • @jusjosh21 The kids obviously we're under supervision, bloody over protective parent.

  • @jusjosh21 Seriously!? I`ve made snowcaves since i was 2 years old. Everyone in my country makes snow caves and in the 22 years i have lived no one has died

  • @jusjosh21 Retard. Your stupid. You don't ruin there fun time that they're having. What is wrong with you?

  • @jusjosh21 OH NO!!! GOD FORBID A LARGE PILE OF SOFT FLUFFY SNOW SHOULD FALL ON YOUR CHILD!!! OH NOOOOO!!!!! Silly! If this thing collapsed most likely it would just be a cubic foot of snow or two falling off the side to create a pleasant window, you freak! Do you wear an antimicrobial mask at home, by any chance?

  • @jusjosh21 Oh yeah, I would NEVER let my kids in this terribly dangerous scene. Lets just let our kids stay indoors playing video games. It's SO much safer than this pile of snow.

    Honestly...

  • You my friend are an awesome parent :)

  • what a greedy kid haha

  • Sure hunny, ill build it longer for you.

WTF if it collapses. or melts? byebye lights :D

    and byebye lil girl

  • @XxBadDreamzXx its most likely not going to fall, its pretty compacted and cold + wind has frozen the snow

  • I so wanna do that, im english, and the maximum snow ffall we've had us abour a foot and it isn't always garenteed. Last christmas was pritty good though

  • Too sad we don't have snow here in Brazil :(. But i'll definitly see snow someday!

  • She will be an architect.

  • too cute!

  • omg soo awsome il give every 1 who posted recent coments a +1

  • You can actually take a spade shaped large shovel and move it in a circle. You will get huge chunks of snow at a time and have a massive igloo in less than an hour.

  • how did u do that????

  • I ended up using a omelet sized frying pan and a blanket. You set the blanket under the area you are working on and scrape the ceiling and walls with the frying ban. The snow lands on the blanket. When you get a nice size pile you crawl out, pull out the blanket and dump it back on the pile. (helps to have two people, sling it like a hammock)

  • @FisherCase good technique and i always have trouble getting the snow out of the cave..... by the way you're daughter is a cutie haha

  • lol "why is it just a hole?"

  • lol??

  • haha its funny when the kid comes in she just lays back and stares at the ceiling lol

  • what if that collapsed

  • the only way it could if temperatures went over 0 for a couple hours or a car drove over it i made one with the walls only around 6 inches thick and i was on top of it using my sled off of it just to see if it would cave or not. you just have to let the pile sit fro a bit before you dig the tunnel and its completely safe if your safe with it. my dog also dug a big hole right through another one cause he couldnt find the entrance and freaked out but it was just behind him lol

  • @9071freak i was gonna say that but you put it first lol

  • I guess everybody would die a horrible snowy death

  • if it collaspe just stand up

  • @lilosa1 Sorry to reply to a year-old comment, but snow is heavy... You need help if you get covered, so you work in a buddy system.

  • @lilosa1 you cant its so heavy

  • @lilosa1 Every year i look on the news and see that some kid died from a snow tunnel collapse. Snow is ALOT heavier than it seems.

  • Comment removed

  • yeah. you should subscribe to me :D it wont hurt. :]

  • cool stuff lol. also, you have super nice video quality, you must have a really good camera lol

  • It's not the camera, you can get this kind of quality from your digital still camera if you do a few things in post production.

    1. Import to iMovie (free with any Macintosh computer)

1a. Needs to be converted to .mov before imovie will accept imported if you are directly importing from the video camera.

    2. export edited file as Quicktime for CD or new imovie has youtube upload feature.

  • thats little girl had pretty eyes.

  • thaaaats creepy..

  • cool, i used to live in Aspen, we would usually get around 10n-15 feet there! I built forts with my friends, it was great, and cute kid to!

  • lucky you, in sweden there havent been snow on 2 years

  • im ur neighbour and here it snow every fuckin year and i love it!!

  • i've heard that you're supposed to poke a hole in these to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. is that true?

  • lets think... where do you suppose the carbon monoxide would be coming from? you leaving any cars running in your snow forts?

  • you breath out carbon monoxide buddy :)

  • you breathe out carbon dioxide, not monoxide.

  • oops..thanks ;)

  • dang i want winter to come last year we got so much snow pretty cool snow tunnel or fort whatever you want to call it

  • Brings back alot of memories from when my brother and I used to build snow caves when we got HUGE amounts of snow when we were kids. Only, now that I'm an adult, it worries me, what if you happen to be inside one day and your child sneaks out by themselves, goes in the fort, and it collapses. By the time you think to look in the fort for your child, its too late...

Its happened many times, it IS possible.

  • lol..love it when the kid says its not big enough...just no pleasing some children..

  • SWEET! It is like an igllo/tunnel/mine! :) I wannna make one! :)

  • This brings back memories... :)

  • Great tunnel. I never had one that big. But you should give her want she wants, add the door :) It would make it that much better.

  • you stupid stupid person! what if the tunnel colapsed? !!!!

  • ok and how do you think they build igloos?

  • You're clearly a few slices short of a loaf, people are just stating the obvious that if and when tunnels like this collapse, children could have been playing in it, "omg wat if ur car crashes and u die", Are you trying to piss people off with your idiotic statments?

  • lol, let the kids have fun, you are prolly waaay too overprotective when it comes to lettin your kids do stuff

  • In Paris we get snow maybe once a year about half an inch which doesn't last more than a few hours!

  • Good way to keep warm if you were stranded in the snow.

  • You should cover your childs face. Other than that that looks like fun!!

  • her face in covered fine! there is no snow falling no wind that i can hear of...and she has a big scarf and hat on!!!

so leave it out you retard!!!!!!!

  • if you covered her face anymore, then she couldn't see.

  • Hey im from SLC Utah too :D, but most importantly you gotta wait till it snows good here.. heh now i wanna make one

  • wow thats so beautiful. I'm from salt lake city utah and I am gathering any wisdom I can get on how to create a warm and comfortable snow cave to hibernate in this winter. I think thats pure love to do that for a child. Perhaps she will remember that when she's older each time it starts to get cold.

  • its an out side house. lol and where is your other house. is it inside a even biger house.

  • too bad I live in Texas...

  • wow! never seen so much snow! im english so we get snow like once every 3 years and then only 6inches, how do those things nt colapse?

  • I'm so jealous. I want huge drifts. I remeber making these in Coldwater and no one had a clue what I was doing. You put lights in? Paul I'm coming home this weekend and if we get the floor done we can make another one. Even a slide, what a spoiled girl.
