This is such a negative outlook on something that brings so much postive to ppls lives. I thought about this video for the past day or two and i do not agree. it actually mad me not sant to dance today. disappointing
@Yogstar2000 it's not a negative outlook, it's bringing a reality to the situation, no i didnt agree with everything he said when he 1st said it but when he broke it down futher and you apply it to what you see it's true. Plus in the beginning he said this doesn't apply to everyone/all the crews
I agree with somethings he says. But, the old school days were the old school days. We as bboys today owe that to the cats that lived through it. But the world has changed since then, people have changed, and so has bboying. There has to be evolution. I compete in competions but for my own satisfaction. the feeling of achievment. I love the dance and live the dance everyday. i owe everything I have today to bboying. There are still bboys out there that compete for the right reasons...
@Yogstar2000 its funny how they always blame on the judges for where bboying is going, but most of the time the judges are oldschool cat, or bboys the scene knows they got the knowledge, i agree in a couple of stuff, but theres a couple that have to do with the world we live on now, and we dance for fun with friends then at jams u get beef by seeing other cats, even if its just cypher callouts u still do it to smoke cats, i guess theres no real right form of bboying
First of all, I completely agree what he's saying about the scene now-a-days... I experienced it first hand when i went to IBE for the first time this year... I came back pretty disappointed... but the new kids in my scene, they came up to me asking "omg how was it?! was it crazy?!?!" i didn't want to disappoint them so i kinda lied.
So how do you approach the old mentality to the new generation that practice only to win?
@OmightyrefleX It starts with us not being so nice man. The oldschool cats were not nice to each other. They wouldn't help some kid that was trying to learn. If you tried to step in their cypher you'd get called out etc. Now there's no aggression, which is funny because some of the best bboys started their legacy through call outs. If people practice to win competitions, generally they'll get smoked in the cypher. So next chance you get call someone out, embarrass them in front of their friends!
The bboys nowadayd are now all about competition competition And Competition.. I see a lot of old skool clips and i envy whut the oldskool bboys did sometimes i wish i were one of the when bboying was more of a less organized and more rivalry and street.
oh man i honestly agree with alot of what he says. I love bboying so much and dancing in general. I've been to alot of jams but have never entered one myself. people ask me why and i tell them i come just to dance not to showcase or show off what i got. I come for the love of dance. I think this video is something every bboy should see.
