just a theory but maybe they had to use different colors becuas eof copyright laws, I know of cases when other shows have done paraodies of differnet characters and intentionally got the colors wrong for that reason

Well, it was part of the song. I'm quite sure you've heard the Barenaked Ladies tune 'One Week'. Rich was quoting verses from that song. Hence the Sailor Moon reference.

She is the CBS designer responsible for the show, and they had to redo the Showcase Showdown wheel after Drew didn't like the purple wheel and went to a black wheel with a red wall that matched with the Big Doors and Turntable walls.

Pretty weird that Drew (who is clearly behind "Price" being a little bit wackier lately than during the Bob Barker era) uses a reference of an anime cartoon from the 1990's that hasn't been seen in the States since 2000. I'm sure 99% of people watching had no idea who that was (especially the older crowd "Price" appeals to) but for the 1% of us that recognized the "Sailor Moon" reference (and happened to be watching "TPIR") it blew out minds! :)
