  • Excellent rendition. Too bad the audio had trouble capturing the high notes.

  • Beautiful, love this piece. And you sang it fantastically.

  • A lovely video. But if you put yourself out here you should be able to take constructive criticism without becoming defensive. The 'requi--ahm' is the only jarring note in the performance - the difference between professional sound and stubborn amateur. Learn, child. We never stop learning.

  • @shinawillful Those who can do. Those who can't comment on YouTube.

  • Altar verhängt, Augenkontakt mäßig, schlechte Tonqualität. Dennoch recht gut gestaltet.

Wegen Altarverhüllung drei Punkte von mir!

  • A beautiful performance! I remember the first time I heard this. I was shopping for speakers and went to a local audio store. The guy there asked me what I like and I replied something like, "Do you have any solo piano or choral?" He put the Requiem in the CD player and selected Pie Jesu. The tune sounded familiar but new - so peaceful. When the full chorus welled up so did I. I wept on the spot! The shop owner, who is also a choral conductor, just smiled when he noticed.

    Yes, I bought them!

  • This brings back so many memories. I have sung two versions of Pie Jesu in high school choir, and this was one of them. You did an absolutely fantastic job! Thank you for sharing this with me. It would have been an honor to be in the choir with you.

  • very nice!

great voice, thats a beautiful solo,

    is rutter!

    saludos de Argentina!

  • just,,,,angelic,,,,,but i quite agree with sayanarat,,,,overall,,,,,,magnificent

  • It`s just so great! John Rutter...

    I never can stop listening...

  • I'm sorry to put any kind of dampener on this coz you do have an absolutely gorgeous tone to your voice but I just wanted to mention the fact that you say: 'requi-ahm' instead of 'requiem'. Our choir conductor is really down on us about that. Sorry if this comes across as though I'm lecturing or something...

  • There will always be different schools of thought on what's right and wrong on vowels. Just because someone is of the opinion that you should always pronounce an unaccented vowel a certain way doesn't mean everyone will share the same view :)

  • I sing it as the requiem too..

  • @thespia, tess5340 is correct. It is pronounced requiEM. A letter 'e' is never pronounced 'ah'. A pity as it is well executed, but the mispronunciation jars somewhat.

  • @floatystar I'm sorry you feel that way.

  • @floatystar I think some leeway should be given for pronunciation of "requiem" as it is little more than a middle English word who itself is a modification of the latin word "requies." This makes the word requiem little more than dialect, or at worst slang. I will accept a rebuttal for requies, but only if you honor its latin origins by not using Caroline minuscule.

  • @tess5340 it's not a mispronunciation per sæ, it's just a slight vowel modification for the sake of tone (the open 'e' vowel has a tendency to cause bad placement and pull the pitch down).

  • I think you have a lovely voice and did a great job with the solo

I performed this song a week ago

but the only thing is the rest of the choir I felt were going a little to fast with the music .. but i guess because we did it totally different but thats just me

  • The conductor was nervous and went a bit faster than normal :)

  • great job! I completely envy your voice.

don't waste this gift you have!

  • wonderful ! thank you for your video !

  • u sing it really well!

  • Beautful!!

My high school choir and a bunch of others performed this piece with john rutter directing! At Carnegie Hall. this brings back memories!

  • magnificent voice !

  • You uplift my spirit - what a beautiful rendition of a stunning song. Your choirs phrasing and dynamic shifts are exceptional - felt it was growing so naturally in the climaxes.

  • Excelent, but iv'e heard this song live before, sung by Randburg Hoerskool choir under Richter Grimbeek, no choir will ever beat that

  • Out of curiosity, and the soloist for Rutter's Pie Jesu for two choirs myself, is this a college choir? You did a wonderful job by the way, intonation is perfect and you interpreted this piece very well!

  • It was some of the kids from my college choir...and a few others. This video was made as an entrance video for the conductor to get into graduate school.

  • that was amazing, love this piece. wish i could sing like that! believe me i have tried!

  • Ahhhhh....A beautiful voice!

Sustained tone, lovely control, and I love how you floated those notes...good interpretation.

When the community choir did this, the conductor brought in a guest to sing the solos, and he built her up for WEEKS.

She wasn't all that good- she was good, but nothing quite as fantabulous as this.

  • Very beautiful. I am getting my ten year old son to use your video as an accompaniment. Thanks for posting.

  • beautiful job!

  • the only thing lacking is the recording quality. Other than that, 5 stars.

  • Gorgeous. That is all.

  • Superb, we are just rehearsing this for the prep school

  • So beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wonderful--this Rutter piece never fails to start the tears flowing for me. Thank you.

  • I once sang a Bon Jovi piece at a karaoke bar. (Just some levity for the comments section. I'm here all week. Try the veal. Tip your server.)

  • Conducting was subpar! It was too fast! But it was a lovely sounding group and a fabulous soloist!

  • Tienes una voz preciosa. Gracias por colgar este video y dejarnos escucharte. Hermosa pieza. Cantas como un ángel.

  • gorgeous.

you're singing it with very little vibrato.. like an angel! I am such a stickler for rutter pieces... you guys are wonderful!

    thank you.

  • thats really bueatiful. if i were the pianist i would play it about 20 clicks slower. love your voice.

  • I sung Rutter's debut requiem in Carnegie Hall in 2001...

    It was an awesome expirience

  • aw man! lol we did this my senior year in high school and I had this solo...but we were in this huge church for our performance and we had a mini orchestra so we had, I think, a flute, clarinet, piano/organ, drum thing lol and a harp...I can't remember what else but it was amazing! And the echos in the church...wow, nothing like it. lol great job btw...we'd do great together :)

    Elphaba
