A few years back, I got cocky because I could reliably beat the original Super Mario Bros pretty quickly. I thought I had mastered the game, so I took on the lost levels. I screwed up a whole lot more than Billy ever did, and spent a good part of the day on 8-3 alone. This is not only a testament to Billy's brass balls and perseverance, but to how hard the lost levels really is. Especially once you see how he easily conquered other notoriously hard games. I think you could argue that Billy was the Barry Manilow of lp. Sure, his work may have seemed a bit underwhelming, if not downright laughable, and certainly something you'd insist you only enjoyed "ironically".
