I converted less than a year ago and from the day I said the Shahada I have never not worn an hijab while not at home, and I often wear a niqab as well. I don't feel that either are limiting me of making me feel restricted in any way... I used to be sexually harassed by men all the time, now that rarely happens. I've been looking up different ways of styling an hijab online and there are so many interesting and beautiful ways to wear it.
I'm not saying that I believe she should be killed for her points that the niqab is not mentioned in the Quran, but she seems to be anti-niqab, when the niqab is just an option for women who's Iman is strong enough that they want to take that extra step and display even more modesty than what is legally required (by the laws of Allah) for them to take.

I'm only trying to explain the thought processes that most religious people undertake. I'm not pointing the finger at you specifically when I say "you" .. I say it in a collective sense. I know well that there're huge variances within the Muslim communities - so I'd be wrong to generalize.

That rape is generally committed by strangers is a MYTH.

I guess we may be on similar footing. Except I come from an Islamic background. More reason to believe me when I say I hold no prejudice against Muslims. My parents are some of the nicest you'd ever meet. My mom's love is incomparable to any other feeling on Earth.
I dislike religion, not people. There're only two types of people in this world; good and bad. Religious zealots are thoroughly brainwashed, but I believe there're, amongst them many, who are inherently good people.

@CowardsFury I agree with you. I worry about extremists and terrorists -- most of them interpret everything wrong, or interpret it to the worst boundary possible. Religion should be a thing of the past now, but people are still hanging on to it. People need a form of guide. I guess they chose religion.

Well, yeah. But religion is mainly passed down from parent to offspring. You know..child indoctrination.
The children are programmed from a very early age to think along religious lines, and many are also told (I'm one of them) that not believing in the religion will land you in hell. Basically, something as harmless as your private metaphysical belief is the ONLY deciding factor as to if or not you'll achieve salvation instead of burning in a blaze whilst being skinned alive etc.

It's insane. But yeah, children in western cultures are also for the most part brainwashed by what they see and hear in the plethora of media surrounding them. I'm glad you realize that too. Although I'm now agnostic, I still hold socially conservative views on drinking and sex, which makes me somewhat of an outcast in my university in Canada haha

both man and women have responsibilty. its a duty in islam that women passed age of puberty wear the hijab. covering their bodies except hands and face. if they dont then they disobey god and it will be counted as a sin. the hijab is not to opress a women but rather to show her honour and modesty and to protect her. men have their duty as well to lower their gaze. jus cuz women arent dressed properly doesnt mean we can stare we have to alwayz try or best to lower our eyes

I am a muslim but I am not for covering up. Covering up has nothig to do with god. It is all about making sure that women dont get harrassed by men. So it comes done to men. And not god.

Hijab sends a clear message to men that they are all primitive with no control over their sexual urges portraying men as rapists. It is only for men that Islam orders women to cover up; otherwise, women wouldn't need to cover up. So let's be clear about this. First, I dislike the way that the interviewer equates "moderate Islam" with being unveiled; it sets a false standard of judgement that is rooted in the interviewers subjectivity towards the issue. Secondly, the lady without the hijab, is, unfortunately, making the same lies that non-Muslims make. aah but thts where ur mistaken the quran doesn't use the word hijab explicitly but it does tell us (men and women but more so women) how to be modest. for example it tells men to lower their gaze and women to draw their veil over themselves so as not to reveal their beauty which is essentially what the hijab is. the style of hijab may differ from country to country but the covering of the body is required in islam.

Just because they wear a hijab dosnt mean that they arent dirty little hores. The profanities really tell a lot about you and the people in Lebanon(not all). I didn't say someone who wears a hijab is perfect you assumed that. But women in hijab respect themselves by not turning themselves into little pieces of meat like in Lebanon. You can deny it all you want, but the women walk half naked, there are clubs than schools, you all drink alcohol like water, and in particular you have homosexual organizations all over Lebanon. The hijab is a weapon for women. It prevents them from being objectified and it gives them safety and comfort. Allah instructs us on what is right and what is wrong because He cares about us. Everything He does, everything He forbids, He does it out of great intention. He forbids a Muslima from showing her body and hair becaue He knows the consequences of it. Who are we to question His authority and state that the word of God is incorrect? If this women doesn't change her ways, she's screwed

I don't wear the hijab , but I don't criticize those who do until they give us the whole speech about chastity , it would be a better world if we mind our own business!!!!!
