@suzukirulez It was actually a marine 1000hp engine downrated to 500hp due to ridiculous fuel economy impact. It still drank fuel, especially if you had a heavy right boot. The newer straight six mack engines were the ones to go for though for reliability and economy, brilliant engines.
nice trucks, lots of room inside them, u should have blown the air horns tho mate, why have air horns and never use them? so many people have air horns and never use them!! i always use mine
Its job is not to look pretty, but to the haul loads across europe. They did an excellent job, because Renault Magnum has one of the best cab or even maybe the best. The floor is flat, and it's very spacious. In terms of living conditions this is possibly the best truck in Europe. And its style is debatable. Some people like it, some people don't. I do. But remember! This is a truck! Not a work of art.
Try daf xf superspace, much more space, I know floor not flat, tho 105's are. I had a magnum, then had xf superspace, prefer daf. Had magnum back 4 1 day due to daf in service, felt cramped. Plus magnum cab FITS inside superspace cab. Daf proved it in Paris truckshow
Your information is so very wrong. We have tough emissions laws here. Look up "EPA 2007 emissions" and you will see what I mean. We use aggressive EGR and DPF's and for 2010 will also use SCR as well. At that point we will be beyond Euro 5 for better or worse. We are still allowed to run 60's diesels if we want but supposedly in 2010 all diesels will have to be retrofitted with a DPF. I still wish the engines still used good ol' reliable mechanical injection. Simple to fix and run like hell!

Major part of truck drivers I know personaly prefer Volvo or Scania instead of renault... not for the space but for the way you drive it

Volvo Truck bought each other. All are losers.

I agree with you. And Volvo makes only 6 cylinders motors. Tout fout le camp.

Renault did not buy mack just used the engines till volvo brought renault trucks out someca1300. Renault engines r gutless, always have been.

Renault did buy Mack. They started to invest in 1979 and by 1983 they were a 40% share holder. They finally took over completely in 1990.

Mack is cheaper than a Renault. In fact, every single US truck is cheap. No pollution norms or anything, let them 60's diesel roll on 24/7.
