While most game makers only used the PCM channel for sound effects, Sunsoft used it for the bassline of their music tracks. The difference is shocking as you can hear, it sounds very vibrant for an 8-bit machine.
This and Fester's Quest - two games I went back to not too long ago and beat for the first time. Actually, I beat a lot of my other NES games that I never got around to beating. I think I also beat Little Mermaid and Star Tropics 2.
This game set the standard for office buildings. You can't run across one nowadays that doesn't have bottomless pits or elevators that only service two adjoining floors.
That's Sunsoft for ya. I always loved their good music soundtracks, especially the ones in this game.
Ever heard music from NES' Batman, SNES' Lemmings, and last but not least SNES' Adventure Island? Then you heard the stunning creativity of Sunsoft's composers! I'll never forget 'em.
I loved this game, and it's soundtrack! The only thing I didn't like, was the abscence of "The Gremlin Rag" (the Gremlins theme from the movies) in the game. If that had been there, it would have been perfect!
This was actually one of Sunsoft's best games. Then again, I always liked Sunsoft. I liked their controls. They executed the movie-to-game concept very well w/ this. I always liked to think of this as a hypothetic rendition of what wouldve happened in the movie if Gizmo was never captured by Mohawk. But wheres stage 2's music? That was one of my favs.
Who would design an office full of several types of spikes, loose electricity, inconveniently placed bottomless pits, lava, more inconveniently placed conveyor belts, moving platforms and moving flails. Not to mention the infestation of rats, bats and tomatoes(?).
Man, what happened to Sunsoft? All their games and soundtracks were so fucking good in the NES days. Gremlins 2, Batman, etc, all great games and soundtracks.
yeah i would see that thing every other playthrough.. stupid me at 5 i thought it was a witch. i don't think you were meant to catch him. a neat easter egg though
This was a very fun game. The NES days really spoiled me when it came to movie games. Now I hardly even bother looking at them.
I mean, what happened to the days where a movie game didn't always have to be released before the movie? You know, when the studios would actually have time to focus on making a GOOD game?!
Not only fantastic showcase of classic NES video game music but it also completly fits the style of the Gremlins theme- it sounds near enough like it was done by Jerry Goldsmith himself, the same vein as the movie's music.
Sunsoft made some of the best tunes on the NES (along with Konami, Capcom, and Nintendo). They always made good use of the DCPM channel (which a lot of games ignored)to create those cool drum beats.
Music sounds like an darker soundtract to Journey to Silius after I've listen to it again. Never could get far in this game, but I've always loved the music. Gizmo's the shit!

It's just a warning that the Gremlins are coming up, granted it wasn't until the next level, but that's the point.
