Poor Calvin. Please don't realize that you have to leave us to get a pro bowl birth. Also, as a detroit citizen, I would like to offer a public apology to Jason Hanson. Puts up his second highest conversion percentage (95%+) in his 17 years and was perfect from 50+ yards going 8 for 8. Yet none of his kicks were game winners :-(
The Lions didn't have the toughest schedule in the NFL. The Steelers schedule this year (based on last season's record of their opponents) was the toughest any team had since the 1976 Giants.
This may be true, but based on this year's performances league-wide, the lions had the toughest strength of schedule. While I'm not sure how they calculate that kinda thing, if it's any more than opponents' win-loss, if you look at the lions website or ESPN and they discuss the draft order and highlight strength of schedule, detroit had it worst of all.
Not an excuse for losing every game of course, but just an argument for your consideration.
Not an excuse, but if it was going to happen to anyone, it was going to happen to this lions team, this year. once they got to like 0-8, the majority of the other teams left were playing hot is all I'm saying.
The lions should have won a handful, maybe 3 of their divisional games, because the NFC north is one of the weaker divisions in the league at the moment.
green bay was in the NFC championship game last year, minny had a first round bye in the playoffs this year, chicago went to the superbowl a couple years ago
Yes, yes, and yes, but the reason i say all the teams are underwhelming are as follows. Minnesota won the division because everyone else didn't do that well, green bay is still developing aaron rodgers, and chicago is always going to be in quarterback controversy land unless they really commit to Kyle Boller. And chicago lost edge it had with Devon Hester. He's now a marked man. Same thing happened with Dante Hall a few years ago.
Their out of division schedule was a murderer's row to be sure, but even I as a detroiter have to admit that the NFC north is not the class of the NFL in terms of competitive teams. Certainly a far cry from the NFC east, or AFC south.
They should have won ANY one of their divisional games because each of those other teams was underwhelming if anything really.

dude its the NFL, there isn't a strength of schedule like the NCAA. SOS is the worst excuse for a bad season.

Whoops, I acidentally voted you down, but I agree. The Packers, suffice it to say, were the only halfway-competent team in the NFC North.
