This product was recommended to me before I did the big chop. It had rave reviews, but I don't like it at all. It's too heavy for my hair and I tried passing it on to my teenage daughter who also doesn't care for it. It's taking up space in the cabinet at this point because I hate throwing things away. Your hair looks great, especially compared to the results that I ended up with.
I love this stuff! If you old hair, for weaves or a wig it will bring it back to life don't waste money buying new hair buy some cantu its hair crack :-)
it makes sense that the cantu shea butter leave-in will NOT work with gels designed to help retain curl definition because cantu is meant to help "detangle" and get your hair in a straight mode if you will...styling gels are meant to leave hair with a "curly" tight look...the two work "against" each other...nice review anyway;-)
Haha that's funny. Unrefined shea doesn't actually have a smell until its near rancid. It takes on the smell of what ever its mixed with. Your hair is beautiful.
@taren916 just found out tht this product has animal fat in it(pork,fish,etc) ewww NOT natural annnnnd there's acohol in it....I was gonna buy this but I don't eat pork so why put part of it in my hair if u get me ..lol..
look if every1 wants to get thick lovely hair with just one product i would say use a tub of HOLLYWOOD BEAUTY CATER OIL TREATMENT WITH MINK OIL thats whats on the front by the way it has everything in it like caster oil,mink oil,sweet almond oil,jojoba oil,laonlin,coco butter and some extra good stuff that im not gonna say cause proply not many peoploe heard of them but they are good and its all in white and green not expesive and you can buy it off amazon :)

HI Taren! Iove how knowledble you are on curly hair. I have curly hair and for a while I didn't color it. However, I started to get highlights and my hair just didin't like it. I have stopped it and now I just want my hair color back. For a long time my hair just changed and is not as shinny. I have used oil treatments and they help, but i don't see much results. I have very thin hair, but curly. I dodn't know if this Cantu leave in conditioner will way my hair down.

It can be used by itself, but I usually find my hair dry and less defined rockin it solo - so I combine it with my Cantu when I want XTRA definition! Great video - I'll be checking more of them out.

However, I don't wear my hair out I use a little oil as a base and Worlds of Curls then Eco styler gel " the pink one" The I grab a brush an I have the prettiest slicked back ponytail ever. I guess you just have to try it. I started using Cantu two years ago so my hair is use to it an loves it.

hey, I am a relative newbie at being natural, literally like only 13 months and a few weeks, lol. And I was wondering after seeing this particular video, what you would recommend for maximizing definition through a more harmonious pairing of products. I.E., what two products together have given you more definition, but not too precise of one. I too feel like I'm of the median nature of people, I think I'd like definition to my curls, without it being too perfect. But more definition, lots.
Hello Taren the leave in is great for detangling and softening however the cantu pomade is thick a bit heavy for your type of hair maybe for someone with more course or tighter curls. Sorry u didnt get the defined look but your hair stills look great.
My experience with Cantu Shea leave-in is that it seems to sit on top of my hair. Although my curls were more defined, they felt dry and crunchy and my hair actually started to shed!!! Maybe I used too much?? (I can be heavy handed with products) How does Cantu compare to Shea Moisture? I'm desperate to find a leave-in that works for my hair. I just got my Mixed Chicks samples in the mail...maybe this will be it. BTW: I still want your gorgeous hair! :o)
Hi taren I wanted to let you know that I am natural and I use cantu shea butter daily on my hair and to get the definition of curls I combine tresemme flawless curls curl hydration. I found that this is the only product that will mix well with the cantu.
Love your hair!!!!! I use to use the Cantu a while ago back in the early 2000s before it was a hot youtube topic. This product is old. When I used it it left a reside and I had lots of white flakes. I think I back then was leaving too much conditioner in my hair (not washing it all out) so the Cantu would not take. Definintely use it on freshly washed hair and then maybe put a light oil on top of it to seal in moisture!!!!!!

i love the grow strong strengthning treatment. i used to use it as a leave in and put a shower cap on at night while it was still wet...it says you can do that on the back of the container.but i just style it in the morning with out putting anymore product in my head...its amazing..you should def try it out

@Mrsnesi08 Wow, sorry to hear that happened to your curls... Well you already did the first step which is not flatiron for a long while... Now I would suggest getting your best deep conditioner and deep condition for about twice a week for the next four weeks.. Deep condition with something that is rich in protein.. Or even take it a step further and use something natural like and Avacado mixed with some sweet almond oil would be excellent :-)

I heard about the Cantu Leave In Conditioner before, so I went out and bought it, just to try it out (and find a cheaper & equally effective product than what I use now). I have seen great reviews, but it dried out my hair terribly, frizzed it up completely (I have 3c curls) and the curls aren't defined and I believe that over time this will dry and later break my hair (my prediction after 1st use). But your hair seems to take the product in well! To each their own! Silicones aren't my friends

try adding an oil pre poo to your hair especially the ends. then wash/co-wash then apply the cantue. it defines better that way in my experience with my daughter's hair who has a similar texture as yours.
I used to use Cantu Shea Butter religiously for about 2 years until I just decided to get unrefined shea butter, and I never looked back!!! I still have a full of my Cantu!
I tried it a couple years ago and hated it it caused me so much breakage and shedding I will never use cantu again. Maybe it was too much protein for me
wow i cant believe u got these results!! i use it about every other day and it defines my curls like crazy!! i have millions of little ringlets, i love my results. and u get better results with continued use. maybe u should try using a little more product per section. more is more lol.
A Couple of options are using the product as a DC. Since it is very thick and rich I use it with a mix of oils (coconut, jojoba, grapeseed, olive) and really saturate the hair and do the bagging method and let it sit overnight or sit under a dryer. rinse or poo out the next morning and style as usual.
And i do use this product in combo with miss jessies baby buttercreme for m twists, coils, and if i just want a big soft fro.
I tried the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in a few times over the summer. It was a bad idea. Or maybe the bad idea was using it over my water/glycerin 50/50 mix.
My hair was a greaseball. Melted in the sun. I wouldn't mix it with anything.
Cantu for twists felt *amazing*. My hair has never felt like that before. Of course, I later learned that it wasn't my hair I was feeling, but the slick film of dimethicone on top. lol.
I think its okay temporarily. Took sulfates to wash out tho.

I have used this product....what i can say is that it cant b used everydat due to it being taky....when i had my hair flatironed by a proffesional they had a hard time getting the cantu out of my hair....buyer be aware!

Thanks... Well ever since I got my satin pillow case I don't have to do anything to my hair at night! I love that... No bonnet, no twisting, no pony tail... My hair just lays freely on the pillow and I wake up with no crazy frizz... Or sometimes I wear my hood band if I don't feel like have my hair all over the place (out of my face)...

I heard about the Cantu Leave In Conditioner before, so I went out and bought it, just to try it out (and find a cheaper & equally effective product than what I use now). I have seen great reviews, but it dried out my hair terribly, frizzed it up completely (I have 3c curls) and the curls aren't defined and I believe that over time this will dry and later break my hair (my prediction after 1st use). But your hair seems to take the product in well! To each their own! Silicones aren't my friends

try adding an oil pre poo to your hair especially the ends. then wash/co-wash then apply the cantue. it defines better that way in my experience with my daughter's hair who has a similar texture as yours.

I used to use Cantu Shea Butter religiously for about 2 years until I just decided to get unrefined shea butter, and I never looked back!!! I still have a full of my Cantu!

I tried it a couple years ago and hated it it caused me so much breakage and shedding I will never use cantu again. Maybe it was too much protein for me

wow i cant believe u got these results!! i use it about every other day and it defines my curls like crazy!! i have millions of little ringlets, i love my results. and u get better results with continued use. maybe u should try using a little more product per section. more is more lol.

Hey Taren,
A Couple of options are using the product as a DC. Since it is very thick and rich I use it with a mix of oils (coconut, jojoba, grapeseed, olive) and really saturate the hair and do the bagging method and let it sit overnight or sit under a dryer. rinse or poo out the next morning and style as usual.
And i do use this product in combo with miss jessies baby buttercreme for m twists, coils, and if i just want a big soft fro.

I tried the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in a few times over the summer. It was a bad idea. Or maybe the bad idea was using it over my water/glycerin 50/50 mix.
My hair was a greaseball. Melted in the sun. I wouldn't mix it with anything.
Cantu for twists felt *amazing*. My hair has never felt like that before. Of course, I later learned that it wasn't my hair I was feeling, but the slick film of dimethicone on top. lol.
I think its okay temporarily. Took sulfates to wash out tho.

I have used this product....what i can say is that it cant b used everydat due to it being taky....when i had my hair flatironed by a proffesional they had a hard time getting the cantu out of my hair....buyer be aware!
