@Bienkoface94 Graphic EQ's are assignable in four stereo pairs (mono or stereo operation), and can also be put on main outputs, aux outputs, and subgroup outputs. For more, check the manual at PreSonus.com!
so, let's say i'm recording drums with studiolive and cubase, i have all drums separate tracks. am i able to mix the recording with my computer without studiolive being connected to computer?
@Kritter1musicFuneral Sub groups allow faster mixing of a whole group of channels. Imagine you have your drums on channels 1 to 8 and you've made this nice balanced mix between all drum and overhead signals then you can assign all of these channels to a sub group. Now when you're doing a full mix, instead of adjusting each separate drum channel to fit your mix you can use the sub group to change the output of the whole drumkit. You can also group fx sends this way...
also do you by any chance know how the faders and fat channel will apply to one of the presonus firewire interfaces, should it be the case that I would add one?
@jonnyweston That's a good question - I'm not sure if the StudioLive will 'add' a DSP fat channel to the expanded inputs coming from a PreSonus FireWire interface - please contact tech support at PreSonus.com to check this!
@jessiefrank There's a special mode which uses the FAT Channel LEDS to show how far 'above' or 'below' the actual fader is in relation to the project setting. You just adjust the fader and the LEDS update, till you've got the setting dialled. Sounds more complicated when written down than it actually is in reality - it's very simple and intuitive in practice.
@SourceDistributionTV can you explain a little more on this subject on motorized faders please it is confussing. if you control your sound via an ipad how would it affect the sound if the faders do not move? or how do you save your sound and how would you bring it back if faders do not move? i appriciate your answer?
This was very helpful. What I really with my new 24.4.2 is a helping hand with making the FX work. This might seem very funny, but I really need the assist. I have used every major desk since 1970 and digital is a bit of a disconnect. The only thing I need now is help with the FX part of this great desk.
at larger live shows (usually festivals and outdoor events) or if you just have speakers spaced apart for better coverage of your audience, some speakers will need to be time aligned so that audio reaches the listener from each speaker at the same time.
e.g. at a festival stage FOH is time aligned with the backline so that stage amps and drums arrive to the front rows at the same time. A delay stack 50m back is then time aligned to FOH, etc
in a big show there are towers of speakers out in the crowd. They are there to lessen the natural delay at distance. Indoors at a large show delay stacks allow you to reach everyone in the house and not blow away the people down front.
Very thoughtful and professional presentation by SourceDistributionTV and a remarkable product. IMO Presonus has set the bar very high with this desk. Of course it would be very nice in future releases to incorporate IO card options such as AES, ADAT, and expecially MADI IO on a non FW version @ 24/96 and 24/192 quality to interface with PCIe , ADAT SMUX, AES, and especially MADI 64. Wonderful job Presonus. A great company with a great vision. Cheers - ~skygod~
Very excellent overview!!! I am using this at my church, and you have clarified two main concerns about the mix send levels via auxes. I have 6 separate monitor channels going for musicians. I may consider buying one for my studio-I do love the sound-very transparent and clean
hi there i got new presonus 16.4.2 im using it in church but i got a problem maybe u can help me. i have 2 monitors for guitar and violin i inserted them into aux 1 and 2 but theres no output sound. is there any button to push or to control to make it work? i tried to press all aux button but nothing works. thanks.
Is the DSP FX stereo? I assume it is with it mainly being reverb/delay type effects. If so, what is the signal routing? Do the effects go directly to the main out stereo bus only? What happens if you send it to a mono aux send? does it add the L/R channels? I'm thinking of buying one of these so any info would be great.
@SourceDistributionTV Hey, I am looking into this as a secondary mixer in a part of my church where we are constantly having different setups... For example a band on sunday morning, and another completely different band on wednesday nights, does this board have the capability to store a whole setup as say "Band 1" and then be able to call up "Band 2's" settings and it automatically set the channel settings?
hi, when your using this desk for recording do you have to mix whtever it is that your recoding before you actually record it or can you record it first thn mix on the desk after instead of mixing in your daw? thanks
@andrben You should've probably watched the video a little more properly. There are no motorized faders, thus if you move the faders in logic, no faders are moving on the console. That's no issue though. It is more of an analogue studio mixing feeling, but you still have all channels seperate at any time and don't have to create downmixes at an early stage. Best of both worlds pretty much. SweetwaterSound has an interesting video series on using the 16.4.2 in the studio, check it out.
Hello, even when two channels are linked they're still carrying separate left and right stereo signals, it's just the controls etc that are linked, so you'd still need to route the signal from both channels to your two separate speakers to obtain stereo. as to effects you can use the internal EQ and Effects and you then don't need to use any extrternal ones - hope this answers your questions,
hi thanks for great demo video im planning to buy this just like to ask im using jbl powered speakers do i still need to use driverack px for my powered speakers ?and if you link stereo 11&12 in your demo do you still need to plug the two signals going to 11&12 like in keyboard output left &right output and how about the eq in 4 mix monitors think in your demo no need to use external eq & effects ?thanks a lot
thats a nice table i have a LEM rd 204

@SourceDistributionTV hi,just a quick question...if i moved say the channel 1 fader on my mixer wouls it move the channel1 fader in logic
positiveblackman1 1 year ago
@positiveblackman1 No, it isn't a mix controller in that way - though you could feed channel 1 from Logic INTO it, and actually mix on a real mixer!
